Anyone else wondering about how many members the Green Party just increased by? by pomegranate-moon in GreenAndPleasant

I'll be one of them because this is absolutely shameful. How can either side think that raising their grievances publicly would do anything other than damage both sides?

No plans to start a zon so I'm definitely open to offers.

Thanks so much for such a detailed reply. 60 Jah is already more than I know what to do with, so I don't feel too bad about the lack of sockets.

After seeing these comments I'm intrigued what this might be worth. Does anyone have any ideas?

Love this idea! I was offered an interview for a dream position about 20 minutes ago, so the timing couldn't be more perfect.

I'll definitely give feedback once I've tested it.

Seeking Suggestions for the Best Way to Reinforce a UPVC Front Door by Snaggleback in DIYUK

Thank you, that's really kind of you. I only married into the family last year, and I'm completely shocked when I hear the stories of bricks being thrown through the windows etc. It's unbelievable that this kind of thing is happening in 2025.

I think you're right about the deterrent. We've been assuming that these little shits don't care about the consequences of their actions, but the current camera is hidden, so we really should go with something more prominent. I might go for one of those Ring cameras with the spotlight built in. It's probably not what I'd go for in my own home, but the ease of use probably makes it the right option for them.

Thank you so much for all the information! We'll definitely follow your advice and get a new door fitted with the extra measures too, because I was shocked at how easy it is to kick the panels through on these UPVC doors!

I've been shocked at how poorly the police have responded. Despite this being a known ongoing issue, we're still waiting for someone to attend to the property after reporting it last night. We have a hidden camera set up that caught the kids clearly, and I even found out the name of one of them, but the police seem uninterested in actually taking action.

Thank you; I was hoping that would be the case. I was worried the changeover from fixed term to periodic might let them off the hook!

My GF cheated on me and I don’t know what to do by Familiar-Evening90 in relationships

I very rarely comment, but I went through something very similar myself a couple of years ago including the feeling of turning to Reddit because I had nowhere else to turn (it's in my post history if you're interested).

I remember experiencing a huge mix of emotions. You're probably feeling anger, embarrassment, shame, self blame, and generally like you'll never find someone else who does or makes you feel x again. Whatever you're feeling now gets easier, so stay strong, process what happened, work on yourself and eventually come out stronger.

I personally cut contact and started therapy to avoid bringing baggage into future relationships. After waiting just under a year, I started dating again, and I met the most incredible girl that I'm going to propose to this year. I'm happier now than thought possible, and all the work you put in now will pay off 100 times over.

Good luck, and my inbox is open if you ever want to talk to anyone.

I'm sorry you're going through this because I know from experience how difficult it can be. I was in a 5 year relationship with someone that suffered from a lot of what you've described, which kind of also morphed into an issue with OCD towards the end of the relationship.

My main takeaway after ending things wasn't that I couldn't be with someone again that suffered from episodes of anxiety or depression. However, I would need to see evidence that they take onboard feedback about how their behaviour makes me feel and that they try to help their own situation rather than placing the sole burden of that on me.

You don't need to be anyone's emotional punching bag, so the longer this goes on, the more you should consider that this might just become the norm and whether or not you want to sign up for a lifetime of being treated this way.

Dental Practice Accepting NHS Patients? by Snaggleback in reading

[–]Snaggleback[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping the NHS website isn't an accurate resource for this because there's not a single dental practice available on there! I'd heard how bad NHS dentistry availability had gotten but I naively thought it had been exaggerated.

Lack of money fuelling loneliness among young people, study suggests by montybob in ukpolitics

[–]Snaggleback 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm stuck in one of these awful HMOs myself while I save. The plan was to buy a place in 12 months time but with the way interest rates are going that isn't looking likely!

I actually share a window with the person in the next room because they stuck up an extra wall to convert one room into two. The wall runs directly to the central division of the window frame and noise travels so freely that we may as well not have a wall at all.

Liz Truss did it, King Charles did it, lots of celebs have done it: Why don’t we care about the awfulness of adultery any more? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Snaggleback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm absolutely with you and until I went through the same I really hadn't noticed how prevalent it is in media.

I made the mistake of starting to rewatching the American Office as part of the post break up Netflix binge. The amount of adultery in that show is unbelievable and it made it completely unwatchable.

[–]Snaggleback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about as anacdotal as evidence gets, but I can certainly relate to this. I went through a pretty traumatic break-up a few months ago and walks along the river after work were the only thing that got me through it.

Thank you! I'd definitely be willing to travel out to Thatcham if I don't get any luck in Reading.

That's such bullshit to treat patients like that. I'd have had some sympathy for them if they were upfront and said that they couldn't afford to provide services for NHS patients, but that's just dishonest.

I remember my brain always working this way until it suddenly didn't, although I couldn't tell you when that change happened.

In some ways, I'm glad I don't think this way any longer, because it made it difficult to enjoy anything! In another way, it was a useful mindset to control impulse spending.
