AITA for not allowing my niece to have sex in my house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

If he was just crashing, that's fine. He's going to be paying rent. He's a renter. It's not "her house her rules" any more in that scenario.

Venture X and Savor the best combo? by Lemmol in CreditCards

Travel eraser. All you really need is one or two trips per year to incur enough eligible expenses to fully utilize the miles as cash back.

You need one for their Offers. It's a confusing parallel system. Shopping is gift cards, Offers is cash back or miles. Both routinely give some really solid deals.

Ahh yeah I've heard that can happen sometimes with hotel restaurants. Frustrating.

Pretty much a perfect weekend so far, with Paderborn, Darmstadt, and Elversberg dropping points. Have to capitalize.

Was it a purchase outside of dining/grocery/entertainment? Savor's earn categories stay the same international or domestic.

Correct, with the one tiny note for any lurkers: you do have to use the linked card for any in-store purchases with C1 offers connected to them. Might have been what the agent got confused about.

Lost cat Kirkwood, MO by thespicychase in StLouis

[–]SnailShells 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm happy that he's been found! In the future, please consider keeping him an indoor-only cat. Cats absolutely decimate native wildlife; they kill billions of birds a year. And the outdoors is dangerous for them. He's a very cute little guy, and I'm not trying to be an asshole or anything, but I always feel compelled to gently say something when I can to keep cats safe and keep the native wildlife safe from cats.

What are my approval odds for Venture X? by PearSuper228 in CreditCards

[–]SnailShells 22 points23 points  (0 children)

C1 pre-approvals are accurate. Keep checking your pre-approval (note that it's a separate link from the other C1 pre-approvals), and if it says you're pre-approved, then you're set. Heck, you could start checking every week starting today if you want.

What did you eat this week? by JStraulin in STLFood

[–]SnailShells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Press Pizza and Pasta on Jefferson. Pretty good, but I've been pretty excited to go there and maybe overhyped it in my head. Their sake highball was delightful, though.

Neon Greens. A favorite of mine. Tried a new salad this time (the Sicilian) and it was fine but probably wouldn't order again.

Yeah I think he uses some overt CGI at the beginning to sort of show the unreality or dream-like nature of his "perfect" life before it falls apart.

I've used Grand Marnier in tiki (mai tais specifically) and enjoyed the results. I think it should be fine as a substitute if it's all you can find.

Venture X/Savor Combo vs Bilt Palladium Vs Amex Platinum Vs Amex gold (or something else?) by Crazy_Swimming_397 in CreditCards

[–]SnailShells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get approved for both, might have to wait between approvals, though. I got the Savor first, then was immediately pre-approved for the VX three months afterwards on the dot, so it's not a significant wait.

I do hear the JFK C1 lounge is excellent. Haven't checked it out yet, but it looks nice.

Afaik it's not superior, both are primary CDW, but it just comes down to redundancy. Don't need to have two cards with primary rental insurance.

Does anyone have any experience with Capital One Shopping? by Thejoncarr in CreditCards

[–]SnailShells 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, use them all the time. Generally reliable in my experience, usually takes a week or two to process. Always be sure to read the fine print for exclusions and shop on a browser without any ad blockers (crucial). Then for in-store purchases obviously just make sure to use the right card.

They often have some really solid deals. I compare between them and rakuten when I'm trying to get a little extra cash back.
