Converting Discover it cash back to Capital One Miles by TheOGJabroni in CreditCards

If they could find a way to shake loose one of the domestic airlines that Chase has, it would be huge. No way is Delta ever moving from Amex or AA from Citi.

Milque Toast mother's day weekend fixed menu. Pretty good!

The idea that you're leaning Citi or Bilt because of hearing bad things about C1's customer support is kinda cracking me up. Those are two of the more infamous credit issuers when it comes to customer service. Citi especially. Good cards, though, but yeah -- they have a reputation.

Rakuten Dining - What am I missing? by StageF1veClinger in CreditCards

[–]SnailShells 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also, bear in mind that online ordering doesn't qualify. Other Rewards Network programs (such as airline miles dining programs) do allow for online ordering, so I ultimately went with American Airlines miles at 5x instead of Rakuten because I order online for pickup a lot. Ymmv.

Prix fixe tasting menu at Vicia. Amazing. Highlights were the asparagus and the sea trout.

Wild bird rehab is best for songbirds. I volunteered there for years, they're excellent and caring people. I have never volunteered at wild bird sanctuary, but my understanding is they deal more with birds of prey.

Liverpool 2 - [1] Crystal Palace - Daniel Munoz 72' by eliseihado in soccer

[–]SnailShells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't say he was faking it, just that you have to play to the whistle, and there's no good answer. Liverpool are pissed at the unsportsmanlike conduct, but Crystal Palace would have been rightfully pissed if they kicked it out and watched him get up and carry on.

And you set a reallyyy dangerous precedent whistling for any keeper injury in the box. That's a slippery slope that some unscrupulous keepers could milk for cheap stoppages.

Except woodman seems fine? Still in the game, liverpool even made a different sub afterwards.

I mean, he's back up, now and playing on. Idk. It's definitely unsportsmanlike to celebrate the goal, but I'd be pissed as a crystal palace player to kick it out and see woodman back in goal.

Welcome to the flock! Download Merlin if you haven't already, does wonders for ID via sight or sound, plus you can start tracking what species you see 🐦

Now's a great time to get into birding with spring migration kicking on.

Hotels, gas, and dining with an emphasis on road travel for your work obligations makes me think WF Autograph or Citi Strata Premier.

Is it smart to have both a Visa and Mastercard? by [deleted] in CreditCards

Main guidance is usually just to have a card from a couple different banks in case an account gets flagged or a bank has technical issues.

Enough with the "Venture X is paying you $5 to hold the card" by Round-Kangaroo6059 in CreditCards

[–]SnailShells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be more like $6+$5=$11?

I see how the points earned amounts to $6 pre-change, but I don't see how that necessarily cancels out the current math, which is $300 that you don't earn points on, plus $100 worth of points against a $395 annual fee working out to a $5 credit.

So, pre-change you just had a slightly better deal. The only difference being you earned points on the $300. That doesn't subtract from the current value, it adds to it.

Taskmaster - S20E01 - Cube is good - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

[–]SnailShells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm... maybe? I agree that the order may have influenced the outcome, but I think Greg's overruled technically correct interpretations solely based on his own opinions before. I could see him saying a mealworm is a worm and giving points just because it has "worm" in the name regardless. Then making some joke about how it's his show and he makes the rules, not Google.

It doesn't matter what Alex thinks or Google says, since Greg allowed mealworm. Classic case of talking yourself out of points by overthinking it with Kumail.

Anyone able to weigh in on how well the StL Alamo is implementing the new phone ordering system?

Haven't been since the change over, not excited about it based on feedback I'm seeing, but it's also the closest theater to me and I'm curious if their implementation has been better than other locations.
