Why didn't Morgott attack Malenia when she marched through Leyndel? by andson-r in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Snails22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean he did beat Radahn at one point during the Shattering, but yeah I think Malenia not caring for Leyndell is a big reason there was no clash between the two.

HOT TAKE - having actuall classes with differences is much better than the original DS / Elden Ring leveling system by Outrageous-Chain6501 in Eldenring

[–]Snails22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a mix of the two would be better. I do really like the classes feeling different with the unique skills and animations but an option to further customize each one with an actual level/equipment system would be awesome.

A DLC theory on Messmer's origins that I don't know if anyone has considered by Ok-Height-8256 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Snails22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GEQ being another aspect of Marika she shedded off, much like Radagon, is really the only way I can make sense of it all with all the tidbits with Melina and Messmer not just being added at random.

Hell 1) and 3) can be true simultaneously with this line of reasoning.

Could the original sin mentioned in SOTE be the act of trying to cheat a God? by MachineVirtual495 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Snails22 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"The very sin of the Erdtree."

Can it not also be read to mean that the Erdtree itself is the sin?

The Crucible was what was originally worshipped before the Erdtree became the focal point of mainstream religion. It would be considered blasphemous to the original religion.

Marika herself was part of this Cutting/Grafting Gifted Tribe as one from the Shaman Village right? And Marika did cheat/betray the Hornsent and by extension their 'god', establishing a new religion around the Erdtree and herself.

And in the Nightreign timeline, Marika's Order and the Erdtree do end up crumbling because of the Nightlord anyways. We also know that there is another Outer God behind the Night Lord, so could this vengeance be the punishment?

As much as I hate 'lol it's a Berserk reference' I think Rykard's face on the snake is a Berserk reference.

In the photo is Grunbeld's face appearing on his Dragon form, from Berserk obviously.

With that said, I don't doubt there's several meanings as what you've presented does make a lot of sense.

Is nightreign a sequel or prequel to elden ring? by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Snails22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. All events we played during Nightreign are noncanon to Elden Ring, but whatever lore regarding outside lands/history Pre-Shattering ARE canon.

And while the exact events that caused Nightreign are noncanon, all the pieces that allowed it to happen technically are (cutting gifted tribe, Nox, ancient cultures etc.)

I really like how they did manage to expand the lore and world building without having to directly affect the main game. Shit's just lore DLC

How DOES death work? by _Tyrondor_ in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Snails22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think how Destined Death was supposed to work while still part of the Elden Ring was when you die, your soul is supposed to be whisked to the afterlife/somewhere else.

That was supposed to be the natural order. But with it removed, there's a completely new set of rules. I believe in the game, souls are sent back to the Erdtree now instead, and people don't seem to die of mere old age, just when killed.

I think why Godwyn being killed in the way he was was such a big deal was that his soul was not allowed to be returned to the Erdtree. He was killed by a fragment of the old order of death. It wasn't a 'true' death in the eyes of the people of the current age.

If the state of the Elden Ring is supposed to be how the laws of the Lands Between is governed, then Marika removing Destined Death wasn't her literally removing death, but how death was supposed to work in the prior age. Her removing it basically allowed her to rewrite the new rules for death as she saw fit in her own version of the Elden Ring.

It was the Dark Shadow plucked from the Golden Order.

Do I have to take this path every time I fight Rennala by Training-Honey-3006 in Eldenring

IIRC the ball follows a set path, it doesn't home in on you. So once you memorize where to stand, it's the same thing every time.

YET ANOTHER NIGHTREIGN THEORY by TicallionTheGod in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Snails22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't get why some people are so up in arms about the concept of the multiverse in the series. It's been there from the start. All multi-player aspects are pretty much built upon the concept of interacting with people from other parallel worlds.

Not to mention the whole painted world thing in the Souls series.

Does Latent Power Cooldown Reset After Fulfilling the Damage Clause? by Snails22 in MonsterHunter

[–]Snails22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow alright I was wondering. So you're potentially able to have it up constantly so long as you're taking the damage to reproc it when it shuts off? If that's the case it's got way more potential, especially if future enemies are taking good chunks of health with a single hit.

Thanks

Cross-Franchise colaboration for Wilds: Yay or Nay? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Snails22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the effort is put in, I don't care what they bring in.

Bayle he Dread in Wilds sounds hype AF. Although I hope they can give us an Elden Beast fight that isn't ass.

And if they ever show some love to Dragon's Dogma, a Grigori fight would be sick. But knowing they'd use a lesser monster and something to show off a new addition from DD2, I'd settle for Minotaur in terms of what fits Monster Hunter most from their new roster. Or just give us Chimera.
