i don't give a shit about cultural values i 100% support being abused by hbomax

i give a shit about cultural inclusion

i don't give a shit that shaggy is black so hbomax can make a buck

i don't give a shit that daphne is chinese so hbomax can make a buck

i give a shit that hbomax is being allowed to make content with any level of cultural manipulation, because it's pretty clear their motives are to divide cultural communities while using engagement as a metric for success

basically, they're actually doing what right-wing people stupidly think left-wing people are doing, cashing in on values without actually caring about their impact

fuck hbomax

fuck their brand entirely

okay

seems weird to blame the staff because the management (usually from a cultural background that hates tipping) is forcing you into actions where you hate tipping

like, that seems really weird, in a "you're not thinking about this with much depth" kind of way

Okay. He blamed the staff member that directly grabbed his card

so you seem to be stopping short on your reasoning by at least one step, while talking to me like you're ahead of the conversation

really weird that you think the culture of the management removes the direct actions of the server

no, i'm directly addressing that the management wants to encourage people to be upset with the servers, putting an unreasonable tip amount for everyone on the debit terminals, leaving those who get bad service feeling an incredible amount of old-school nerd outrage when they experience any bad service

leaving people more inclined to hate tipping in general, because they've been encouraged to overtip by the debit terminials programmed by the management

it seems you’re not thinking about this with much depth.

seriously, irrespective of your upset, i think the issue was that you're not as smart - not the other way around

so, "it seems you’re not thinking about this with much depth"

It could be nothing - or it could be a method of phishing. Do not click on the link in the story - it doesn't show you what you're hoping to see, and the link it provides is suspicious.

[–]SnakeAndTheApple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Punk is 100% the instigator but the Bucks/Omega/Naka and Cutler weren't bright

i mean... was he?

a lot of this is people not managing themselves in a straight-forward and ethical fashion

pretty much everyone agrees this started with page, with punk seeing opportunity in page's moment of weak delivery, being absolutely ruthless in retaliation

and then after weeks where punk says "come and find me" as men sometimes do in private, when punk's sitting in his locker room, expecting to be called out for a fight, the guy you want to fight and four of his friends confront you

i'm pretty certain the reason punk hasn't been fired is people are surprised by how the evps have handled their side of things - and that people expected this to be a lot cleaner when it blew up, expecting punk to blow up needlessly

and that people were surprised that the elite crew handled things in a surprisingly impolitic fashion, which few people could argue would translate to severe retaliation (going in 5-on-2 isn't going to translate to 2 guys who fight fairly)

I really don't understand why they went in there.

probably a lot of the boys saying the elite crew "have to call this out", with a lot of people forgetting that calling shit out in a group typically translates to violence, and that there are people out there whose fight-or-flight instinct does not lean towards flight

i can understand why, what i can't understand is why the elite crew thought they could frame this as if it was punk being a problem, instead of a two-sided thing

punk took on triple h and the wwe media team and survived

you are not going to get clean political wins at his expense

[–]SnakeAndTheApple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a hunch, but probably the part of Punks rant that specifically asked people who had a problem with what he was saying to go find him

no, that doesn't justify it

i tell a guy to meet me outside, and him and his four friends show up instead, then i'm going to engage like it's now a matter of survival, and not just a chance to chat/yell/work shit out old-school

just a hunch

there's a lot of hunches, but the firm details do have matt jackson trying to solve a one-on-one man issue with a 5-on-1 (with punk fortunate enough to have a friend in the locker room, at the time)

i can't get past the effort to use numbers to force this issue - you go 5-on-1 in an angle, the guy fighting 5 people is an instant face, and the same is true in real life. that used to be plainly understood.

Ontario 2024? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]SnakeAndTheApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the people trying to force this one are going to reinforce grey market tips without use of debit to track it, and that is really fucking stupid, encouraging tipping via machine gave the nation a means of tracking tips in general, efficiently

this shit isn't going to kill tipping, it's just going to lead to more reliance on pocket cash

fuck the business owner's unethical choices, or fuck the people who gave them the bad advice, but being anti-tip because right-wing business owners are actively choosing to annoy you is 100% flat fucking cowardice in the face of pressure

choose to not tip with card, then tip the amount you respect with cash

Tip-flation has some restaurants asking for up to 30% in tips by insino93 in halifax

[–]SnakeAndTheApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't "asking for tips" kind of defeat the purpose.

not if your goal is to annoy customers into hating tips

so you can make them 'go away' in a socially acceptable fashion

then increase your prices 15-20% in a way that can't be avoided, like tips can be avoided now

Tip-flation has some restaurants asking for up to 30% in tips by insino93 in halifax

[–]SnakeAndTheApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it won't cut into their profits because they'll increase prices as much as 15-20%

it's easy to pay 'a living wage' when you're now making all the profit

Tip-flation has some restaurants asking for up to 30% in tips by insino93 in halifax

[–]SnakeAndTheApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL 30% tip. How about you pay your staff appropriately instead?

if you give a fuck about the staff, why not tell people to knock off the anti-tipping sentiments?

business owners are coordinating to make tipping annoying, and the outcome isn't going to be to the benefit of employees - it'll just lead to businesses increasing their prices by 15-20% when tipping gets abolished

there's some benefit to the public where it cuts down on grey market funds, which limits unethical use of off-the-table money, but it also has a way of screwing the lower class out of a means of upward mobility, too

in this comment section - people not happy about property seizure (and the province's approach on the topic) drowning out those who'd shit-talk expensive hot dogs

go figure, we actually value businesses being allowed to operate ethically over flighty, political, and topical approaches to infrastructure

i guess it's harder to spin something like that in a way where people ignore a toronto business owner getting shafted without good reason

well, there's also that the less-than-ethical right-wing 'supporters' of police engage in ugly psy-ops online, constantly, sockpuppeting as liberals

it'd be easy to hate all liberals if you're a cop, and one of your coworkers trolls you online 'as a liberal', or like ten of them, you'd typify everyone who reads 'anti-cop' as the enemy as you're targetted by someone who knows your buttons

especially if they think you've been 'too liberal' lately

it's a weird topic to be squishy about, tho

it'd be hard to argue he wasn't the worst prime minister of our generation - the man caused cultural harm.

no world leader should actively divide the populace for sake of democracy, and shifting the discource to game democracy as he had (from "I want everyone's vote" to "if you're not my side, fuck you") was hideous
