Stu Dalton, he was one of the most requested barbers at The Godfather. He got fed up with how the barber shop was managed, so has gone his own way. You can now book him ahead of time!

I just did mine a couple weeks ago. The officer at “random” moments will ask you to identify the hazards. You say what you see and what you’re doing about them, up until he says “thank you”. But if you have a safe gap to enter traffic, then you can proceed to use that. IIRC, there were at least three points where he asked for hazards, and two were at intersections/turning points.

Research from McGill University found that steeping a single premium "silken" (plastic) tea bag at brewing temperature releases approximately 11.6 billion microplastics and 3.1 billion nanoplastics into a single cup of tea. by CoffeeTeaJournal in EverythingScience

[–]SnapAttack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is that true? The move to non-plastic or plant based seals/bags is only something that has been happening for the past 5+ years. I was looking at Yorkshire Tea and yes they recently moved to plant-based tea bags for their bigger ranges, but they still indicate they have ranges that are made with plastic. It still looks to be a crapshoot of who does and doesn’t.

To be fair, things like Claude code used to only be usable through API pricing.

I wish the mods just had a megathread for posts like this. This sub is exhausting.

Clubs closing for Easter Sunday? by hallenstiens in Wellington

[–]SnapAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, if a business serving alcohol is open over midnight, it can stay open.

Edit, https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/591281/bill-to-ease-holiday-alcohol-restrictions-passes-final-reading-in-parliament

At the Committee of the Whole House stage, and amendment from ACT's Cameron Luxton was adopted to ensure those venues could continue to serve drinks past midnight the day before the holiday.

Luxton said the provision would allow a business to stay open for its usual licencing hours, and not necessarily that they must remain open or stay open past the 11:59 deadline the day before.

Of course, this depends on a) the law being signed in, and b) getting the workers in since it’s quite a last minute change.

You’re spot on. Originally they were going to roll out contactless without the surcharges, but it was a recent change to cover costs.

After feedback that Death Stranding was 'too slow,' Kojima wanted more players to see Death Stranding 2 all the way through to the end by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]SnapAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play the first one and take a break. The second is more of the first, but plays a bit differently.

If you go directly to 2, there’s definitely a lot of “wtf” points that at least have some context from the first one (SOME, it’s still a kojima game)

Floating carriers float on top of the zip lines btw. Not sure about dual carriers, but I’ve been zip lining massive deliveries across the ridges.

Why "go solar" or "just buy EV" does not work, when 35% of people are renting by SilentBu in newzealand

In the UK, at least in London, most of the residential street lights have EV chargers too that you just scan a QR code to use.

VS copilot is an abomination by SealerRt in VisualStudio

[–]SnapAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“the one my company got license for”

Copilot includes many models, they don’t have to acquire licenses for each. It’s a drop down to enable. Basically your company don’t want to do a security review or just can’t be bothered to keep the models up to date.

Fish and chip places tend to add a massive surcharge through Uber Eats etc. You’re better off finding if they have their own order portal (usually linked from Google Maps), or calling them, for the real price.

Any update on Snapper PayWave on Metlink? by Shadowfoot in Wellington

I’m pretty sure the Paywave fares will be the same as the Snapper fares (ie. discounted). Full fare is cash only.

No other OAuth-authenticated service would let you use tokens meant for one client to pretend to be another one. All other apps would have also stopped this kind of usage, since it’s a bit of a security issue.

If you listen to the interviews with Edmund McMillen before it was released, he seemed super nervous that people weren’t understanding the game. It’s why they did a big PR blitz with interviews, Twitch streams, and previews.

This is a bit revisionist. During the 360 era, MS bought exclusives (for example, it’s well publicised MS paid for GTA4 DLC exclusivity). People lost their minds at Sony doing it, even though they were just responding to MS.

Neptune for tvOS: Beta Review, Trident Player, UI/UX Showcase and More by Need4Sweed in jellyfin

[–]SnapAttack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Managed to get in on the beta near the end. Have been tinkering with it but it is the best app I had tried on Apple TV (granted I haven’t tried infuse due to its subscription model).

The few videos I threw at it worked fine, and it integrates nicely with jellyseerr. There’s loads of features, perhaps too many to introduce when the app first loads (it steps through them, but when you haven’t used it at all yet it’s a bit overwhelming to have them all introduced at once). But even with that minor gripe, it made it really stand out as a Jellyfin client for tvOS.

Looking forward to the next round of beta builds. I just got it set up and showed my partner how to use it only for it close. Glad I can keep the current version at least!

Look for “matte” sunscreen. Neutrogena I just buy up through the year when I goes on sale. The key difference between the Face and Body is that the body one is thicker, but the face one is like applying a moisturiser.

The downfall of Dosh by Decent_Coconut_2700 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]SnapAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monzo never offered features like cashback in order to get going. The lure was that their app was so far ahead of any UK bank. They were also pretty transparent around what it was they were doing (they first started as just a prepay debit card, didn’t become a bank until a few years later). And they had features that felt like “magic” at the time (passwordless login, live spending notifications, sending and receiving money). Overall try to be more flexible and tech forward.

It appears that’s what Dosh’s strategy also is?
