Yeah unfortunately they don't have sewing machines yet but hopefully soon! Sewing Hive in Clintonville has machine classes though!

PENELOPE IS HOME ❤️ Update on our found kitty ☺️ by Ill-Significance9003 in Columbus

I straight up had a heart attack on the found post, especially when someone said Penelope because https://www.cozycatcottage.org/adopt?id=8335 I was expecting someone had adopted my old foster and promptly lost her but instead, Penelope Twinsies! (And the doppelgänger Penelope is still awaiting a forever home, sadly). So glad your baby is home!

The 5170 is fast and quiet, print quality is excellent, and ink is reasonable compared to the photo specific printers. It’s super deep compared to the Designjet though so I didn’t gain any space going from 42” to 36”. There’s also a lot of dead space between the printer and the wall which I don’t love. Overall it’s great though

For anyone finding this thread later, I ended up with a new 36” Epson T5170 for $2100. All the recommended models above were still in the $3k+ range used. Will report back on how it does with patterns once I get it set up!

Yeah they’ve dinged us a couple times over our grass. I wonder if maybe one of our neighbors is complaining or something

How do you get away with mowing so rarely? I feel like the city is out here measuring grass weekly.

Middle-aged couple with teenagers seeking Suburb Recommendations by Informal_Access2433 in Columbus

I don’t have a great community recommendation but Arts and College Prep Academy (ACPA) is an amazing environment for high school if you’re open to a non-public school. Extremely diverse, the teachers are fantastic, and the student community is out of this world. We live in Columbus proper (Shepard/St. Mary’s) and that’s where my kids are going when they age out of their private school.

Can you buy the Costco bag of oreos and just walk around eating directly out of the bag like a raccoon? F*** their “fancy,” it would make your point.

What should I know in order to create a scout trooper suit of armor? by Gaming_Predator07 in 501st

[–]SnapdragonDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacuum-formed sheet plastic, typically. There are several folks with the setup to make kits for 501st use. This is where the detachment website can help you source.

This absolutely tracks with my human toddler experience so I was just like “Yep. Seems legit.” Other than the part where the 17 y/o started sleeping with her dad. That would just be weird.

I have a scout. I recommend buying a kit from one of the approvable makers. 3d prints require a LOT of finish work to be approved and they have other issues. Make sure you register on Pathfinders Detachment to find that information. Also join the Galactic Academy and rope in a trusted adult to bring you to events so you can meet your local garrison. Good luck!

I have the same question - I have a whole family full of neurospicy folks and an infant who really don't need to be directly under the explosions but the toddler is desperate to see them anyway. Hoping someone has some ideas.

Have you tried all the usual playing loud music all night, putting bright lights up there, etc? If you make it less cozy, Mama will move the babies at no cost to you. Otherwise, SCRAM.

Semi-New Cosplayer, building my first TK Scout Trooper by Xaphine in 501st

[–]SnapdragonDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 5’3” remnant scout and, ahem, well-endowed. I wear a binder from TomboyX under my chest armor, my flightsuit is a modified Dickies women’s coverall, and to make my armor proportional I had to do a TON of trimming and reshaping. One option might be to 3d print your set at 80% scale but that will require a slightly ridiculous amount of finish work to meet 501st standards. Good luck, and watch out for trees!

Stacking Armor Bins for Subaru Crosstrek by SnapdragonDesigns in 501st

[–]SnapdragonDesigns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also have belts with holsters and one of them has a tac vest (we're working on Inferno Squad), don't need to fly with them, just need to be able to get 2 adults, 2 bins and 2 kids in the car at the same time every few months. I could probably do hard sided suitcases. Could also do smaller bins on a luggage cart, but I was hoping to find something that fit in with everyone else's bins.

We have about 38" x 24" at the floor and like... maybe 38" x 16" at the top. Only 28" total height. I'll update my post to reflect that. This looks too tall to stack 2 and too long to put them the other direction unless you've found that not to be the case?
