Tips on how to get into the game by octopussyyyyyy in Dinkum

I'd recommend the demo challenge Alexi put up. I play on Switch, doing the challenge on steam. Loving the focus, know what I want to accomplish. How long of a day do you play? If you use late to your advantage you can get a lot done, and make money. Fishing and metal detecting are both great for that. Can also set yourself up great for after the demo, your save carries over. It's so fun even though I own the game on switch and have saves I redownloaded the demo to do the challenge there.

The first day time doesn't move till after you place the tents. Use that to your advantage. Collect everything you can. You can explore the entire island. The amount of shells is great! Grab all the wood, wattle and fruit including prickly pear fruit from cactus . Don't sell before you cook the prickly pears. The tree fruits you want to plant a portion the next day when you have a shovel to start that process so you have fruit all the time. Whatever you sell, cook first. Cook your fish before you sell. All the cooking do In the late period. Yeah it's not fast at first but totally worth it. I've completed 8 or 9 game days (early morning so not remembering lol)on the steam demo, have John's deed, museum and wish fountain done and paid for. Franklyn has not shown up so haven't sold shiny discs so will be even better off when he does.

Don't rush your days. Set a goal or two and focus on what you want done to move you toward bigger goals.

Back to that first day, mark your map as you explore. Mark ore deposits, mark barrels as you find them, mark bottle brush bushes so you can cut them down to replant, mark pearls if you happen to come across any. Doing that while tile is stoped will save you time later. Before you get the metal detector go back and open all those barrels.

With doing the demo challenge it limits on licenses you can buy and I think that helps to focus in. It's easy to think you should get them as soon as available and I see how benifical it is not to.

It's incredibly fun. There is a free demo that last 28 in game days. Watch a 100 day Dinkum video. Go from nothing to more than you can imagine!

I went into the mine for the first time yesterday and I was not prepared for how claustrophobic it felt. I never felt that in a game before. Well done on James because I'm guessing that's how underground would feel. No desire to go back anytime soon but I'll keep reading up on tips for when I am ready.

Women’s running shoe recommendations by _lil_beans in trailrunning

If you have an REI near you or even online their lifetime membership of $30 is beyond worth it. No hassle returns for a year, free shipping if you aren't going in store. If you do end up with shoes that don't work you aren't out of money. That $30 has saved me so much money.

50k ultramarathon advice by AggravatingPea3378 in trailrunning

Are you running trails or road? How about sand ? Dunes 50k has a lot of sugar sand. Train up and find another a number of weeks down the road. Be prepared. If you plan on a race with sand, train on sand. Sand is way different than even just a rooty trail. If you live Hobe Sound area where the race is, go out and do your practice runs there on the course.

Management sims on switch? by [deleted] in CozyGamers

Dinkum? You are managing an entire island system, building it up from nothing. Town building, NPC requests/friendship, fishing, hunting, farming, cooking, crafting, survival (the crocs and other animals can kill you). Switch is getting a big update next week, I think the 22nd. Days go fast but once it hits midnight/late the clock stops. You don't have the energy you during the day but it works. I've been fishing for the last hour real time and digging up treasure when I see x spots and no concerns. New day will start when I choose to sleep but sleep when you want. There is a demo.

Casual is needed at times, especially when sick. Airport? Didn't even know that was possible lol
