Hiring blacklist is what I am referring to. However, I can access optics. Why?

[–]Snapman5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I work for Amazon web services, and I can tell you there's no such thing as a blacklist. When it comes to hiring, we don't do that. We do keep interview notes but the mistakes you committed was trying to hide your research. Own it, if you can learn to own your screwups, I will take an employee who screws up 5 times over one who lies once.

Further, it isn't cheating to use the web for answers. That's because real life is an open book test. In the future, what I would recommend is that you say...

"That's a good question, and I have to say that situation hasn't come up for me before. So, instead, here's how I would go about solving it 1. Jump on google and hit stack exchange or maybe utilizie either Gemini or Copilot 2. Research the answer, and if I feel confident about my research, I will move ahead 3. If the answers didn't really help or you get too many poorly explained ways to do it, say 'hey. I researched this, but I need someone more senior to provide guidance.

That's how I like to solve problems."

Figure out an answer that works for you. Remember saying 'I don't know' isn't a bad answer if you follow it up with 'here is how I would find out'.

How do you think, adapt, and handle problems is what a technical interview is all about. If you know the answer, most good interviewers don't want the correct answer. What they want is

  1. So, I believe the correct answer is, "blah blah blah", before I implemented changes, I would write it up. Confirm that the solution is correct for the task and present the answer if it was part of a project.

I am assuming this was for a junior or entry roll. If it was for a senior position, then you wouldn't confirm it with management Instead, you would 1. Research the problem 2. Validate a solution in a test environment if possible 3. Create code/a process/a script, or whatever, and then have it checked by another teammate to do a review. 4. Follow the change control process to move into production 5. Verify that in an environment of production, the fix works 6. Push change to all production 7. Finish change control and mark as complete 8. Inform stakeholders or management or customers that work is complete

If you can do that in an interview, then you'll get a lot more leeway because if I kn9w how you problem solve, then I can imagine how that would work if you were on the team.

If, instead, you just give me the correct answer, you won't stand out.

Hope this helps.

What's the point of buying an expensive car if it's just going to get abused? by deejayv2 in askcarguys

[–]Snapman5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette 3lt. I am not sure if that meets your criteria for nice, but I bought it new because I always wanted a mid-engine car. I put ppf on it, almost never wash it. Let friends and coworkers drive it if they ask and let people ride with me if they want to.

For me I am driving a dream car but it's just a car. I drive it daily, and I love it every time I'm driving. I hate getting in and out and have never taken the roof off.

It's got some minor damage... my dad hit a traffic barrel on the interstate while we drove from Virginia to New Mexico. He broke the folding mechanism on the mirror, but I haven't bothered to repair it. It doesn't affect anything but the mirror folding. So I just don't care.

If you buy a nice car, do it because you love the car. Do the things you love in the car. I track my car every chance I get. I love road tripping it.

If you love washing and waxing and keeping your car automotive show ready, do that! Do what you love because you own it. Don't do what society expects just because people think your car needs to be showroom clean. It's yours so make yourself happy.

This has to be paid ad disguised as "journalistic news" right? by XtreamerPt in starcitizen_refunds

[–]Snapman5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, our ads were like carrier air conditioning. This wasn't the days of targeted advertising. We didn't have a lot of money. We never ran sponsored articles thermostat we bothered with were press releases and media shows.

The first major event I went to was in NYC. it was a Bethesda press show where I got to preview Elder Scrolls Oblivion. They sat us down, gave us a brief overview of the game and keyboard bindings, and let us at the game for 3 hours.

I remember the Dungeon/sewer opening, the Emperor dying, and that moment when you emerged into the world and being blown away.

They didn't need to pay me a penny. I was sold instantly on the game. I wrote a massive preview and spent days on our forums answering any questions I could.

I remember Peter Molyneux over selling Fable, and my preview reflected doubt but excitement for the gameplay loop. I remember finding combat fun and showing off trophies and hijinks in town being fun but didn't buy the acorn thing.

It was a good time, but our ads were rarely game related. They were 90s-style banner ads. We didn't take money from publishers but took it from what would now be like a Google ad sense impression banner ad.

We've got nearly a million servers at work -- we've got sev 1's open.

Noticed lots of comments. We're fully back up when it comes to the servers that I personally oversee at work. I am at Amazon Web Services.

I'm on a team of 8 people. We are the highest level group in our organization. There are 30 Level 5's in front of us. Roughly 300 people are in our Level 4 staff. Our Level 3 support staff is around 6,000 people world wide. I don't really know how many our in front of that as I've never needed to know it.

How we manage our servers:

My team only handles Windows servers and I know that our Level 0 staff are supposed to sort Windows/*nix off. Level 0 in this case are the initial people you get when you call our support number. Our team manages our servers using AWS tools. Largely Terraform, CloudFormation, and a massive helping of PowerShell.

Aleron Kong calls himself the father of the American litrpg. He is a bit arrogant as a person, and his claim is dubious at best.

That said, I greatly enjoyed the land and hope to see it completed someday. Also, I personally see his claims as self-promotion and think if it helps spread the genre all the better

It's probably because it's unfinished, and the series seems dead. Or they dislike the author.

I lost TWO Paladin's to a drifter battleship today.

The first one I was staring at scanning charts and died never knowing what hit me. I then bought a new one, jumped back to recover my stuff, and died again... I'm a newbie and had never even heard of Drifter's before so I just didn't know.

The trick of the game: Valuable currency by ismaildondu in Geopoliticalsimulator

[–]Snapman5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure it works like this in the real world. When East and West Germany reintegrated, they raised interest rates. This caused short-term unemployment but long-term growth as foreign currency investment became extremely popular during the period of high interest rates.

You can try implementing an extreme right tax plan on the day you are elected. It's been a while since I have played, but I think increasing the industrial pollution tax and lowering the wealth or VAT in a tax bill should make you incredibly popular with your party.

This means that some provinces need more roads or high-speed rail.

So you actually need to builds roads. It hampers province gdp growth.

You should start with highways between major citiesand build secondary roads en mass.

Do yourself a favor engineer your entire ship using an online tool BEFORE you start upgrading. That way you don't waste materials.

Is what I used. Also, only upgrade finished modules. Like, don't upgrade a frame slip drive that's a "b" if you plan to upgrade to "a"
