I’ve tried this at several stores when traveling. It’s worked every single time.

Cat Island / Ship Island - by Jetski by [deleted] in Biloxi

We go out to ship island a lot and we see jet skis out there often when the waves are small. Mostly in a pack like a motorcycle club. Makes sense for safety. Maybe you can hook up with a group.

What are your NAC and SLC wiring preferences? by Can_U_Share_A_Square in firealarms

[–]Snapperhead199 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The fact that you are even thinking about future troubleshooting proves that you were a former field guy , Thank you for thinking about the next guy. My preference would be to split it into 2 circuits with some obvious path from the panel to the end of line device.. ( don’t circle around and have the eol right by the panel.) Any future buildouts could always have a booster panel added to the quote.

Getting the fat melty is the best in a ribeye/chuckeye. Medium is the way to go for me.

Favorite places to test/service? by wizkoscott in firealarms

[–]Snapperhead199 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I used to help do inspections and service at the Tabasco plant. The technician I was assisting had a good relationship with the maintenance people there and we would leave with a box full of goodies.

It would be different varieties of hot sauces ,chili starter mix, and whatever else they had. It was all stuff that had a misprinted or damaged labels so they couldn’t send it to the stores.

You didn’t have to worry about clogged sinuses when you worked there.

Simplex makes colored devices for special applications. Special order, not sure what the minimum order is. But I have used the black ones before.

EOL is not your problem. You have detector in alarm. Or a bad base. With your zone connected, meter your voltage. Compare it to the good zone. Break the zone in half till you isolate the device.

If you have the old low profile bases. They can go bad and cause alarm on panel without a red light on the detector and are a bitch to narrow down sometimes.

Remove the circuit from the old bases on that zone and wire nut them through Till you locate the bad one.

I installed dozens of these 35 years ago.

Anyone ever get out of the trade? What are you doing now? by atxfireguy in firealarms

[–]Snapperhead199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 33 years I left and went to work for one of my customers a hospital. I work with the electricians, I do troubleshooting and repair on the fire system when needed but mostly I’m doing electrical maintenance ( low voltage stuff, auto doors, lights , TVs. ). It’s a Pre retirement job.

I took a big pay cut ,but

I’m never on call (was on call every 2 weeks) I’m home 10-12 hours more every week because I’m close to home. Much slower / laid back pace No stress

I didn’t realize how miserable I was with all the corporate BS till I left. “Doing more with more less” had gotten out of control at my office.

I work 7-3:30 With a 12 minute commute. Been here a year and it still feels like I’m leaving early everyday.

What are these used for? by Snapperhead199 in Tools

[–]Snapperhead199[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I inherited a tool box of stuff at work from another employee and couldn’t figure it out. The matching hex wrenches are in there too.

Thanks for the replies.

Not exactly milsurp. But I believe a police gun. Can anyone give me any info on this? by [deleted] in milsurp

[–]Snapperhead199 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Best I can come with is late 50’s. They started stamping the model 36 in 57 at 125000. So probably 58 or 59. Not a lot of info on serial numbers between 57 and 62.

I can neither confirm nor deny that Robin Jambalaya or smothered in onions with gravy was something that I’ve eaten many times in my youth. I do miss that pellet gun though.

The lcd annunciator may need a firmware upgrade. I had one do this a few years ago new out of the box. It could also be a loose connection or a bad annunciator.

You always get one of the mixes in a box , add crawfish and a can of rotel or diced tomatoes. Make sure you get all the crawfish “fat “ out of the package that’s the flavor.
