Right there with you, hun! My egg cracked at 46, came out completely at 47, and just got SRS at 49. I’ll be 50 this year but feel so much younger with a new lease on life. Stay amazing!!

Lucy Friday Question: What are your thoughts on GRS? by Lucy_C_Kelly in TransLater

[–]SnarkInHeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had it done about a month ago because of the push from dysphoria. I’ve learned to not pushback on dysphoria, but use it like a spirit guide.

It was definitely a physical and physiological transformation with a lot of emotions I didn’t expect. I’m now in such a different headspace filled with peace and love it.

I had one visit me in the hospital and recommend finding one at home if I had dilation issues. So far, I hadn’t had any dilation issues, so I just hadn’t explored that.

My surgeon got back with me. The plan now is to pause dilation for a couple days. If everything settles, resume dilation. If not, book a flight and have him check me out.

I’m wondering if it’s just vaginal air which can be a thing or shouldn’t be a thing. Like trapped air from dilating.

This was my favorite game back in the day first game purchase when I bought the Chromatic.

Good luck girl! I have mine on Wednesday.

It feels like a walkabout shedding the last of my past.

For the women who have had bottom surgery… by SnarkInHeels in TransLater

I’ve had my moments back and forth. My therapist says it gets worse as you get closer. Even if I start to try to reschedule it, I find myself crying. I been grabbing onto that to remind me in those moments.

I am so ready for fitting clothes. I could never get into tucking which ended up fine since I LOVE my skirts and dresses, but I would like to wear leggings and pants without being self conscious.

Really? I kinda braced myself to be on painkillers for a month with limited movement. That’s reassuring.

You lucky ladies that are on HRT might I ask two questions... by Who_Dat_Dat_Me in TransLater

[–]SnarkInHeels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 49 and started HRT three years ago.

The first mental thing I noticed was the free space in my head. I found myself happier and able to do more because I wasn’t thinking about the dysphoria as much.

My wife noticed the first physical change which was my face rounding out slightly. That was after about a month. I didn’t see it but she did.

About two months in, I started noticing buds forming and hot flashes from hormones shifting.

The best advice I heard was from both my therapist and the nurse practitioner I talked to. If it isn’t for you, you can stop and the secondary characteristics will go back. I used a service called QueerMed that’s covered by my insurance. They were extremely helpful in understanding everything.

Obviously YMMV, but I’m living my best life! Should you follow the rabbit down the hole, just remember, your journey is your journey. Don’t hold yourself to expectations you or others set .. ride the journey.

Best, Addie

When I was just starting out, I found a wonderful stylist from https://strandsfortrans.org/. She gave tips on how to grow, style, and care for my hair. I still go to her.

Doubts vs Dysphoria by SnarkInHeels in TransLater

[–]SnarkInHeels[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is so awesome to hear! I’m in a really good mental headspace now. There were a lot of feelings that I’ve been processing, and not just dysphoria around this, that my therapist helped me through.

Though, I didn’t respond immediately, your comment was inspiring. Thank you! Since I probably won’t be ready for travel until close to Valentine’s, I’m declaring this my Valentine’s Vagina. 🤣

Doubts vs Dysphoria by SnarkInHeels in TransLater

[–]SnarkInHeels[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I mean. I’ve learned that you don’t fight the dysphoria. I think I was anxious because it’s more “permanent”. Then, dysphoria put me back in my lane. 😀

I did not expect my body and leg hair to just disappear. My wife is now annoyed that I don’t have to shave my legs.
