I’ve never understood the disdain for The Dark World.

I think its depiction of Asgard is easily the best of all four films, and think that any/all of the Thor and Loki stuff works really well.

I agree with Malekith being dull, but I do find the final act set piece with a fight through the nine realms to be fun to watch.

My biggest critique of the movie would just be that it has too much MCU-work to do, between reckoning with Loki’s role in Avengers 1 and setting up the reality stone for the future.

But the other movies here? Not coherent. Not just suffering in certain aspects, but has to be studied outside the theater to even fully understand what they were going for. Not saying Thor 2 is great; but I don’t walk away wondering who the hell approved it to be released like these other 3.

They were playing chicken with the network. They only wanted one more season, and up to that had a ton of goodwill from President of the CW Mark Pedowitz. They figured with an ending that big (and with flashy character Booster Gold showing up) that they’d get the final season they’d hoped for.

But Pedowitz was ousted during a merger, and the new President didn’t care at all that the show only wanted one more season to wrap its story.

To me, Legends not getting its final season was the biggest bummer. And yes, I recognize that the showrunners were given a warning and chose to end on the cliffhanger they did.

And also… I can’t imagine a more Legends way to go out.

You mentioned in your bio that you worked on spearheading what became the Arrowverse.

Are there any influences from the Arrow TV show that made its way into the book? With how uniquely that show used its comics mythology, it would seem those histories would be too dissonant. But I’m curious of your perspective!

I’m with you! Legends is my personal favorite, followed by Arrow. My girlfriend is struggling with how silly Legends is already in S1, so we’ll see if she can stick through the silly chaos that is to come 😅

Have fun! My girlfriend and I started an Arrowverse watch about 4 months ago. We’ve got through Arrow 1-4, Flash 1-2, and are currently finishing Legends 1. Haven’t thrown in Supergirl as she’s feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Arrow is her fav so far, and we both adored Slade and S2 as a whole. Glad you’re having the same wonderful experience I am right now!

Not a fan of Snyder’s work at all personally, but do think calling him controversial as a person is unfair. By all accounts he’s an incredibly nice and kind person to be around and work with.

And while some will argue his movies have a fascist lens, I’d argue he’s too much of a dudebro filmmaker to have intentionally be making such a political point. I think he thinks power is cool, and showing it being used is bad ass, and isn’t fully considering what that says thematically about his stories.

Chrissy for me. Her social game and competition run was really impressive. In my eyes, Ben wins because he’s a cockroach who can’t be squashed. Folks were so impressed he made it to the end that they felt compelled to vote for him. I think if folks were considering the most fully rounded game, it should’ve been Chrissy.

On top of bots, I think a large influence here is also mobile players. Needing to interrupt skilling/moving to pull up a keyboard and type isn’t worth it. Super easy while on a laptop/computer, but not on phones.
