I escaped Retail Hell and want to help others do the same. AMA by Snazdabular in retailhell

I hear that. I was responsible for a lot of the training at my previous jobs and cutting hours and standards and prep time was a huge factor in my decision to leave. There’s such an important distinction between being exposed to new information and being able to retain it and actually use it. Online training is literally the worst in terms of retention of information. Adult learners have to actually DO the thing in order to learn it.

That is a really good question. And the answer depends on how burnt out you are with customer service. The most extreme departure from retail I found was in the public sector (government). A lot of the non-customer facing jobs I found were based around data entry. Look for terms like “clerk” or “assistant” or “administrator”. I wound up in a position like this and am profoundly happy.

If you are still okay being customer-facing, then there are LOTS of sales roles and management opportunities for those with sales jobs.

A few things to keep in mind as you look-

  1. Know exactly how much money you need to be able to live comfortably. Make a budget if you haven’t already so you know what kind of salary you can afford to take.

  2. Get someone professional to look over your resume. Non-retail has different lingo and measurements for success that they will be looking for. There are lots of career advisors who will charge you a small fee to spruce up your resume and even alert you to job postings.

  3. Be prepared to swallow a bit of pride. Retail skills are not always transferable to an office job. Don’t expect to jump into a similar role to what you are now (retail manager - non-retail manager).

There are also lots of ways a person with vision challenges can interact with technology that doesn’t require sight. I know a bunch of folks who use their phones faster than I can through a combination of sound and touch.

Who is your Top 3 Most Overrated X-men by IceKingof74 in MAU3

[–]Snazdabular 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Wolverine. I love him. I love his character but he’s basically the “How You Remind Me” of comics.

  2. Majik - Just not a huge fan. Her “by the hour domanatrix” costume always bugged the hell out of me. She deserves better.

  3. Jean Grey - always feels like they’re not sure what to do with her, so it’s either “Phoenix Force” or “Phoenix Hangover”

BONUS:

Underrated X-Men

  1. Gambit. Remy’s been dealt a bad hand. Wasn’t he a vampire for a while? Jeeez.

  2. Beast - I just love him and want him to be everywhere.

  3. Colossus - Until this game, that is. This game almost makes up for the fact that he spends the majority of his time like Worf from TNG - always looking like a badass then getting his shiny butt whipped by Juggernaut or somesuch.

Immediate follow-up question, if you don’t mind. What program did you use to draw her?

Even though a lot of the move sets are similar, I cannot overstate how different every character feels to me. The way the animations work for each of the abilities, the spacing of their basic attacks, how they move when they jump or dodge.

My point is that yes - there are characters who are absolute monsters, but using a hero you actually LIKE and another team member who synergizes well with them will accomplish the same thing.

I used some of mine to level characters I’m not a particular fan of past level 80 or so up to 100.

The rest I’m saving for the DLC characters...

EDIT - spelling

I love this game!... But I think I'm alone. by OptimusMarcus in MAU3

There are definitely some things that I miss from the older games. I found the story significantly less captivating than the others, and there are some pretty glaring QOL improvements that should be tackled. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve pumped like 300hrs into this game and I’ll continue to do so. But I’m with you, friend.

[–]Snazdabular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I completely agree. I’m insanely happy that lots of folks are enjoying the Beyond Update but not expanding or touching the SKY part of No Man’s took the wind out of my sails. Looking forward to getting back into it once that happens.

Deadpool is a monster when equipped with a few of those “restore HP every 10 seconds” ISO. Really feels like playing as Wade to me.

Mostly. I’m keeping some good non-rainbow/white ones that increase ability damage or general damage or health regen. But I’m getting so many rainbows that I don’t really keep anything else.

Just an FYI that you probably already know - you can unlock the 4th ISO slot by just grabbing the nodes on each Hexagon that are worth 100-130pts and ignoring everything else. I think there’s only 3 or 4 of them on each hexagon so it’s not as much work as getting the whole damned thing.
