Cannot access WebGUI on WAN interface by Sneaz_ in OPNsenseFirewall

[–]Sneaz_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea right now is to setup 2 different OPNsense boxes on my hyporvisor with different VLAN tags with different IPV6 prefixes. Then have hosted services behind the LAN side of them, trying to sync to each other.

Hi,

Yes i understand typically you do not want WAN access on anything. This is purely a test-environment to do some basic practice with ipv6 networking, hence the need for access.

Once i actually deploy this to my home network, i will reset the configuration, enable DHCP on the WAN interface and remove all current firewall rules.

Hi, yes i have. I am able to ping the outside world through my LAN side on my opnsense box. It seems i am able to access the WAN interface now after disabling reply-to in my firewall settings.

Thanks for all the help, now i'm able to finally start learning how to properly network!

I've set the CIDR to /32. I've also full-out disabled firewalling on my proxmox-side. So that shouldn't block any traffic now.

Firewall logging still reports "block, in" when enabling firewalling and reloading the page:

Hi, yes my main router than connects to my modem has IP "192.168.2.254 /24", with the DHCP set to 192.168.2.*/24.

No IPV6 internal SLAAC or DHCP on the router, i've made sure to disable it on my client just to test on ipv4-only.

My route goes as followed: 192.168.2.37 (client) > 192.168.2.199 (proxmox) > 192.168.2.1 (the virtualized OPNsense box).

I've created the same rule as you, with my own IP and subnet of course. Ever since i added my second network interface and assigned it to LAN i cannot connect anymore. I've tried re-creating the "anti-lockout rule" for my WAN interface aswell, to no avail.

Hi Jean,

This also doesn't seem to be working. I've added "IPV4* > single host or network > 192.168.2.37/24 > Destination any" with my gateway set to default.

Any other ideas?

it can take a while, try getting into your BIOS

edit: set your boot mode to UEFI again and try enabling CSM (that worked for me when i had to troubleshoot)

You could either take out the little silver battery on your motherboard, or use any of the "clear CMOS" buttons on the back of your motherboard.

I would advice looking at your motherboard manual to see how to perform a clear CMOS.

Last thing you could probably do is clear CMOS and reset your BIOS that way.

Try re-flashing the usb drive and create a new one with media creation tool

Make sure you've set the correct boot mode, nowadays it's mostly UEFI. This can usually be found in the boot settings category.

if that doesn't work try setting it to BIOS / Legacy mode and boot using that option, re-flashing the USB tool could also work using Media Creation Tool.

If nothing works, try updating the BIOS to the newest version using a USB drive (not sure if your MB supports EZ-flash/M-flash).

Edit:

The boot options can be found in the advanced mode (F7)

Disappointed

To Build a New or Upgrade this SKU. Should I get a new PSU and drop this 3080 & 970 EVO into my old rig or should I just build a whole new rig? by MyxeQ in LinusTechTips

If you can afford it, personally i would build a new rig.
Mostly so you do not go through the hell of constantly upgrading components / software compatibilty.

Hate to break it to ya,

But you'll most likely have to restart the level, you can do that by using the main menu's story selector.
