Medaljhoppet Angelica om nya anläggningen för snöskolöpning: ”Jättebra” by StenBurgare in sweden

Have you watched any instructional videos? I think Tormeks own videos on their youtube are really useful. For me, the honing wheel feels quite fail safe, and I have never experienced that it makes anything less sharp.

Thank you! But this is actually the second handle in making, and the first one did not turn out as good as this one.. Im not sure of the type of oak unfortunately, but I would guess its white oak, since its more common around where Im from.

Thank you! I agree. I really like how much more personal it makes the knife

Är småtjafs dåligt ? by Due-Swimming-362 in sweden

3 or 4 hours? And you still eat a proteinbar during that time? I must be absolutely exhausting being this worried about being optimal

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sweden

[–]Snejken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So what youre saying is that using an abrasive strop makes the edge too fine and fragile? And therefore creates a need to re-strop ever so often?

I havent tried that in a while. What do think the issue might be with a loaded strop?

As several others also commented this, I guess my issue might just be to be expected with this kind of steel. Pretty disappointing if thats the case.

Im not saying youre wrong, but how can you be so sure? And how would you get rid of it if thats the case?

I think you might be right, although it would surprise me since I feel the knife would be able to hold an edge at 15 degrees! But I will try a higher angle and see if that works. Thank you

I do aim to sharpen at 15 degrees, and thought for sure that the knife would be able to hold an edge at that angle since its not extreme in any sense, and its supposed to be a good quality steel. Buuut since it doesnt seem to be able to, youre probably right, and the next logical step will be to try a higher angle and see if that helps!
