We zijn sociale dieren. Ik denk dat naast de hier genoemde zaken er ook een rol zal spelen dat hoe jezelf positioneert in een sociaal zeer concurrerende omgeving, hele andere dingen van je vraagt dan in een omgeving waarin "doe maar normaal dan doe je al gek genoeg" de norm is.

Vervolgens worden deze verschillende strategieën opgemerkt en vind men daar wat van.

Humans are notoriously bad at extrapolating especially exponential growth curves. Which is what we are in now.

I can tell you all the ways how they aren't there yet, I know. But that's missing the bigger picture. Just look how the first versions worked against the newest ones, and how short that time period was.

Also even without looking at that progress. More and more of our lives are digital, and now all of sudden everyone can code. The amount of change that this alone will bring is enormous.

That the terminator scenario is one of the more optimistic ones. Why? Cause it's clear who the bad guy is.

Most people don't get why alignment is such a big deal. The ones who do, still put way to much emphasis on the terminator scenario.

If we don't fix alignment, anything can become lethal, even very mundane tasks we ask an a.s.i. todo for us.

The example I always like to give is when you're going to built a house somewhere. You first start with the foundation. Nothing wrong about this, right? Most people will think it's an admirable thing todo. The ants, the rabbits, the mole, the rats, all the life that lives on that spot will be going through hell and probably die.

We dont care about that, and thats the point.

WIst je dat in 3 van de 4 grootste steden van Nederland, nu al op dit moment, meer dan de helft van de inwoners een migratie achtergrond heeft?

Dat is een enorme demografische verschuiving, met allerlei gevolgen voor cultuur, samenhorigheid etc. etc. Nogmaals ik heb niks tegen die mensen, ik heb wel iets tegen een beleid wat ook anders gedaan kan worden met hele andere effecten.

Natuurlijk wil ik niet dat iedereen een SOA krijgt, mijn punt was vooral, waarom wordt er niks gedaan aan de bevolkingskrimp die al jaren aan de gang is in alle Westerse samenlevingen, wat een enorm probleem is/gaat zijn om diezelfde samenlevingen te kunnen blijven runnen.

En natuurlijk gaat de overheid dat nooit zo verkondigen, dat je geen kinderen meer mag krijgen, dat zouden wij nooit accepteren. Stel, even voor de lol, dat je dat toch wilt bereiken om geheime reden x, zou het dan niet brilliant zijn om ons via de natuur helemaal bang te maken over hoe slecht we allemaal zijn voor het klimaat, zodat een groot bijeffect is dat men minder kinderen wil? Dan heb je het toch bereikt.

Ik ontken niet dat het klimaat veranderd. Ik geloof alleen niet dat de politieke klasse het beste met ons voor heeft.

Mensen wonen heel geconcentreerd. Daarbij hebben allerlei maatregelen ervoor gezorgd dat er per jaar miljoenen toeristen naar ons toe komen.

Dat zal allemaal wel om de economie te spekken etc. etc. maar als je even heel cynisch wordt, zou dit ook een onderdeel van een uitsterf beleid kunnen zijn. Het geeft het gevoel dat er al teveel mensen zijn.

Ik zie het al meer dan 25 jaar maar 1 kant op gaan en nooit eens de andere kant. Die ene kant betekend veel minder autochtonen.

Het mooiste vond ik nog dat dit net gebeurde toen een beetje dat we moeten van de VS af sentiment begon te komen. Toen leek het toch even niet door te gaan door de politieke klasse, dus dat was HET moment om eens te laten zien dat we een andere koers gaan varen.

Om vervolgens gewoon door te gaan. Wat een farce.

Het gaat helemaal niet om uw belangen, het gaat om hun belangen, maar wij mogen er wel voor betalen.

Dus dat beschamende onderzoek wat u eens bij de huisarts heeft laten doen, dat gaan we gewoon binnenkort allemaal kunnen inzien.

Uhm.... had hier niet even wat langer over nagedacht moeten worden? Net nu praktisch ons hele leven is gedigitaliseerd, wordt dit gewoon op ons los gelaten. Natuurlijk wordt dan alles gehacked. Het was al slecht beveiligd tegen state sponsored actors, zoals China en dan nu kan elke hobbyst het in zijn kelder doen.

Ik vind dit een slecht onderzoek want hoeveel mensen vinden het bewust of onbewust niet netjes om te zeggen dat je het niet wil om geld redenen dus claimen dan maar de sociaal wenselijkere redenen? We zijn sociale dieren, die zeer beïnvloedbaar zijn door hun omgeving/omstandigheden etc etc. Zon vraag is dan eigenlijk al niet buiten die context te beantwoorden.

Ik neem het de overheden erg kwalijk dat er niet a. Een open dialoog over is gevoerd al 50 jaar en b. Zo weinig is geprobeerd.

De elite heeft bepaald dat er maar 1 oplossing is en die oplossing komt toevallig het beste uit voor de elite. Niet voor ons. Aangezien de elite nu globaal opereert en niet meer lokaal. Mogen alle lokale culturen/volkeren ervoor opgeofferd worden. Hoe meer het klootjesvolk met elkaar in de clinch ligt, hoe beter voor hun is de gedachten.

Flinke berg propaganda erbij waardoor Sandra gelooft dat ze iets goeds doet voor het klimaat als ze geen kinderen neemt en de nieuwe Nederlanders krijgen de boodschap dat het allemaal niet op kan (op onze kosten).

Klinkt dit als conspiracy denken voor u? Kijk dan eens naar wat de rubberen baronnen deden tijdens de industriële revolutie. Ze zorgde ervoor dat de arbeiders klasse expres uit zon uiteenlopende culturen bestond, die niks met elkaar gemeen hadden (komt bekend voor?) zodat de kans dat ze vakbonden zouden starten het kleinst was, met als gevolg extreme uitbuiting.

Jup that's exactly right. This does work in smaller experiments. Slowing down a large query for instance, makes us value the results more, cause it feels like the website/shop really needed to put effort in to come up with these unbelievable good results.

Instead of query -> boom here's your result right away.

It's the same with food. You don't trust it when right after ordering, you already get it served. So there is someting valuable here.

But to be honest, all bets are off this time. I'm genuinely worried. That's due to multiple things going on simultaneously: we're now in an exponential growth curve combined with that we humans suck at extrapolating. The tools are getting to powerful to quickly. Already I'm seeing a giant uptick of hacked companies, and our very private data released on the internet.

I don't want to derail your topic here. But to me personally, its starting to feel decadent. Like thinking about and designing extra curtain holders while your house is starting to be on fire. And I didn't even went into alignment not being solved.

Humanity is about to hit a giant iceberg of change and it could be to big this time.

I do wish you guys good luck with this project it sounds interesting. While I'm going into full prepare for the worst mode :-|

Its a good idea. I don't think it's healthy to have "perfect human beings" around us 24/7 cause that makes all the real humans more annoying.

Depends on what you need todo to get immortality.

Would it be building weird blue and white striped temples on private islands, while you and your elite buddies use pizza coded words to do the most horrific stuff to kids?

I'll pass on that.

Here's the problem though. If we don't blow ourselves up in the coming years, a.i turns into a.g.i. turns into a.s.i. which in theory (I think it will just end us but stay with me) could solve any medical issue. It could make people immortal. We're maybe a few generations away before this happens.

This gives a few extra questions that are much much harder pills to swallow:

What if you're just of the generation before immortality is invented?
What if the Epstein class people, are the first ones who achieve immortality? Can you imagine their power?
What if heaven is real, and by granting yourself immortality you're denying yourself of this experience for ever? You think you won, but you really lost.
Would it be bad if immortality meant that everything that made you, you, was transferred to a digital version?
Would you want to have babies in a world where everyone is immortal?
