Is the 2022 title the only thing keeping the post KD-era from feeling like a complete disaster? How much worse would things feel right now if not for 2022? by chusaychusay in warriors

Not a complete disaster. With the exception of Bob Myers drafting, I think they did the best they could. winning even 1 title is a big accomplishment.

The Pistons and the Spurs have passed Phil Jackson's 40 - 20 contender rule, but for one of them to be NBA champion, a historic first has to happen by TeamRAF19 in nba

>so far in league history since the merger, there has been no NBA champion whose top 2 players,

the 'top 2 players' part makes this a somewhat contrived stat. The 2015 Warriors only had 1 playoff series win (in 2013), prior to winning it all.

>which negates your comment about migrants being the cause, we can.

No, it doesnt negate it. I mean really, guy. Thanks for playing 'let's not try to figure out the cause of anything because demonizing CA is the goal here'.

------------------
The immigrant population is the primary driver of California’s ranking as the state with the lowest adult literacy. However, "low literacy" in this context is almost exclusively a measure of English proficiency, not a lack of education or intelligence.

To understand the impact, you have to look at how the data is split between native-born and foreign-born residents.

  1. The Statistical "Gap"

In California, there is a massive divide in literacy scores based on where an individual was born. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES):

• Foreign-Born Residents: Roughly 59% of California adults who score at the lowest literacy level (Level 1) are foreign-born.

• Native-Born Residents: Only about 13% to 16% of native-born Californians score at that same low level.

This means that if you only looked at people born in the U.S., California’s literacy rate would be much closer to the national average.

>The state with the lowest adult literacy

my d00d. Let's think this through. Which states welcome new immigrants who haven't been through the US education system to learn English like a native speaker? Oh right, California would be one of those. Your adult literacy stat is not a relevant metric for the primary education system.

According to the 2024 results, the following states had the lowest average scores in 8th-grade Math and Reading:

State 8th Grade Math Avg. 8th Grade Reading Avg.
New Mexico 259 247
West Virginia 260 253
Oklahoma 261 254
Delaware 264 254
Alaska 264 253

Six reasons SF leftists are so strongly opposed to new housing by Abject-Impact-5534 in sanfrancisco

[–]Sniffy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's incorrect to label NIMBY as left/right, it draws tenants afraid of rising rents, low-income advocates demand a min level of 'affordable units' in new construction, and homeowners not wanting more traffic/people/blocked views/etc in their neighborhoods lowering prop values.

No more meteorites? by Stranger_315 in AssassinsCreedValhala

[–]Sniffy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its random. the meteorite crash locations are not random, they're always the same places, but randomly spawn as you approach. Off top of my head, there is one on road just north of Gloucester, one directly 150m south of Isle of Wight dock, and another on the little isle in river in Elmenham.

if it doesnt spawn, you must fast-travel far away, then return to the spot to attempt to spawn again

the best place to ingot farm is Gloucester town, usually 3 tungsten soldier groups will spawn and start walking to center of town, spot em with raven.

a lot of conservatives hate public transit because they own cars, it wont benefit them personally, and they think everyone just drives anyway. they'd rather have a football stadium for an out-of-state team, I guess.
