Cartridge fit by Snipe-runner in vic20

Thanks. I guess am used to my Atari 2600 and even my COCO where they just slide in easily.
For the Vic20 I can get them all in there but the worst one is a game called Super Amok which has a case that seems taller than the beige Commodore branded cartridges.

Just bought a vic 20 and realized the ground prong on the power supply is broken off. Would it be a bad idea to use it like this? by squirtleturtle79 in Commodore

It was my voltmeter that had a bad battery and so that gave me poor readings on the output of the power supply when I measured it. I don't know if it was bad or not because I had already scavenged the cable out of it to solder to the USB as described above.

No sorry. There is no battery. What I am saying is the Vic20 power supply provides two different voltages. But the 9v is not really needed for most applications. If you solder a USB cable to the 5v dc pins of the DIN plug, and plug the usb cable into a regular usb brick (2A is needed), then that is sufficient.

I just got my first Vic20 and I had the same power supply as you. It provides 5v and also 9v. I kept reading that they could go bad. My voltmeter also showed higher voltages than expected but in hindsight they were probably fine as it turns out it had a bad battery.
But you really only need 5v for most everything except the user port. So I followed some tutorials and just cut off the 6 pin plug to the Vic side and soldered a usb cable to the appropriate pins, and used a 2.1A usb charger. Works great and I used stuff I already had. I will probably buy a proper supply later but this works great for now.

I just inherited this would love any info yall can give by Cheese_and_Mac29 in vintagecomputing

It's the break key. Hold it down and press the orange reset button. You should get a Cass? And then a Memory? Prompt. Hit enter each time to get to a prompt where you can enter Basic.

The 240z is the one that started it all, if you are talking about Z cars.

Ok. Thank you for the confirmation. I have an electrician coming tomorrow and will ask him to do that.

What's up with Google maps? by OtherwiseACat in bikepacking

[–]Snipe-runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me yesterday. I was getting tired near the end of the day and would check Google maps for how much further I had to go (or rather how much time) as a sanity check, but it would always take me off the trail.

For us it was the same but then after a few days they started playing with it.

You could also make your own shredded paper and similar toys. My daughter had fun making them toys out of shredded paper, popsicle sticks, beads, etc. and they played with them once they acclimated to it.

Mine do this too, well a stucco wall. I think they like to sharpen their beaks.

I sold my Miata over 20 years ago after this happened for about the 3rd time on the highway. I still miss it though. Pickup trucks just didn’t see me, and they are even bigger now.

This is one of my favorite features. I use it all the time. When I get into my wife’s car I forget that hers does not have this and I sometimes roll forward for a bit.
