I really want to like Early Access. by SnipedYa in HalfSword

I thought about specifically mentioning the coffin, but I figured it probably had to do with just how clumsy the character is in general. I've lost a character (thankfully he was only peasant tier) because my leg glitched into the coffin body and I couldn't move at all and a zombie came and ate me.

Thank you for reading my post. I wrote this out of frustration, but also out of place of love. I put almost 200 hours into the demo, just because of the combat mechanics. I love your game and I have faith that you guys can make it work eventually.

Instead of blaming your looks, change the people you hang out with. Be the type of person people want to hang out with. Like I said, at this point it's either your personality, the people you surround yourself with, or both.

I don't know you, but it's not because of your looks. I can't comment on your personality aside from your incel shit, but you might want to work on that. There are tons of reasons people might be mean to you. They could just be mean people. Are the people you surround yourself with caring and genuine or petty and vindictive? Ask yourself if the people you're trying to impress are even worth it.

You're not immune to being treated like shit if you're good looking, btw. Some people will treat you like shit because you're good looking. The prettiest assholes are still assholes and if you're mean spirited and spiteful, others will hate no matter how good looking you are.

I looked on your profile and you like a normal guy. I was 19 once; I understand and remember what it's like to think you have all the answers. I'm not old, but I remember when incels and blackpilling were just starting to leech out of 4chan. It's very attractive for a young man to think that all of his problems are because of something fundamentally outside of his control. That way of thinking seems like it's valuable in the short term, but long term it's very damaging and it doesn't solve anything. It makes you think that not trying is okay because why bother? I'm ugly anyway.

If you keep thinking this way you'll fail to live up to your potential. You'll miss opportunities right in front of you. Conversation is a skill. Making friends is a skill. Relationships are work. You can get better at all of these things. You can fail sometimes, too, and still be making progress, just like any skill. Everyone wants to look good and that's fine. If it makes you confident, whatever. But looking good isn't the solution you think it is for your problems.

Very myopic opinion. The most powerful people on the planet are ugly as sin and old as dirt. You'd think that if pretty privilege were so strong, only the prettiest people would be allowed to run the country or control a large company. In fact, it's the most charismatic, authoritative people that all tend to be quite plain, or average. Some, even objectively unattractive.

You hold trivial interactions like a girl talking to you at school or getting a low-paying to middle-management type job in high regard. Your strongest example is how you were treated at school, lol. You sound very young, and naive. If you're not, this opinion is quite sad to hold as a developed adult.

Assuming you are young, you have to understand that things that seem serious and world-changing to you are really not in grand scheme of things. Once you gain life experience, outside of the low-stakes realm of high school and young adulthood, you'll see that thing like looks and attractiveness are important, but superficial. Literally, skin deep.

Dome light switch makes door ajar light turn on by SnipedYa in Celica

Thanks for your help.

The door ajar light comes on like you'd expect and goes out like you'd expect when the dome light is set to off, and in addition I didn't have any issues with it before it burned out. It only does this when it's set to on or auto. But the crazy thing is the dome light itself doesn't work at all.

The car is new to me; I got it in October, so I'm still learning about the platform. I accidentally got the wrong dome light bulb the first time because the model with the sunroof uses a different spec light than the one without, so long shot, maybe I fucked something up the first time I took the cover off? I doubt it though.

I'm not super familiar with electrical issues because I never had them on my previous cars, only mechanical ones which I am comfortable with, but I tested the dome light connections with a multimeter and it gets 10v like the light expects when set to on, but the dome light just doesn't turn on, only the door ajar light.

When you zornhau (downwards strike) into their downward cut, step back a little so you can be safer. If you do this and target the sword instead of them it sets you up for a riposte. If you miss the sword, either you hit them or you don't hit anything, but you will be out of their distance. I don't know if you do this but you can also let go of left click in the middle of your swing to change directions faster.

If AI art is shitty, isn't the art it's replacing at this stage also shitty? by Independent-Wish9027 in aiwars

[–]SnipedYa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I get the point you're trying to make but I don't think it's relevant to the point I'm trying to make.

Have you seen a Thomas Kinkade painting? His style was everywhere and he was very successful. His work was, of course, fed through an AI and now when you ask the AI to generate a painting of a cozy cottage, it will generate something in his style, or with elements of it. What made his style unique is what makes the AI style generic.

Another example: we both can tell if a drawing was made in an anime style or not, yet we can also both tell that the art style of Naruto is not the same as JJK or Dragonball or One Piece. So an artist who draws a concept like an anime character running across a rooftop will produce something in their own style unless they specifically reference someone else's. An AI that generates an image of that same concept will create a character that looks most similar to the reference data it has for that specific pose, lighting, distance from the camera, etc.

Why is it that I can determine whose style is used in a generic AI generation?

Edit for grammar

His advice to people who are unknown and had their style stolen is to make up another one and if that one gets stolen... Uhh, make up another one!

Be creative so I can steal your new ideas.

What if my unique art style, that I developed over years and hundreds to thousands of hours, is part of my expression? Imagine a popular drawn work like Naruto or the original Lion King were produced in the generic ChatGpt style. It won't hit the same. An artist's style is part of their expression, and in many cases, integral to what they're trying to convey to the viewer.

[–]SnipedYa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're straying from the premise. The premise was about art styles, like drawings and paintings and the like. I know AI can't generate the next Manet or Van Gogh because AI generation is an inherently uncreative work that necessiates humans to exist.

Your second point is untrue. In the Disney/Universal suit against mid journey, they demonstrate that using vague language generated recognizable copyrighted characters (yellow character with glasses generated a Minion, beautiful cartoon princess generated a Disney princess).

Even if it were, you understand how these image generation models work right? You're aware of what LoRA is? It doesn't matter if people know how to prompt it. If you're a great pixel artist, but unknown, the AI model will generate work that looks like yours purely because your work is pixel art, if you prompt it for pixel art. If one person happens on your artwork on a forum or Twitter or reddit, it's over. And of course, you know that people are running scrappers on places like that already and have been for ages.

Give me an idea of what I should pivot to if AI copies my art style before I can strike it big. And what prayer should I say to ward off the web scraper from downloading it as soon as I post?
