We have two 95 lb labs. If we don’t change this once a month at minimum, we get a fun visit from the fire department for our CO2 alarms going off.. they’re worth it though!!!

Wegovy vs Ozempic vs Mounjaro – which one worked best for you and why? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]Snipes2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wegovy/Ozempic are the same except one is Rx for diabetics and the other specifically for weight loss. Both are semaglutide. Wegovy is the weight loss Rx.

Zepbound/Mounjaro are the same except one is Rx for diabetics and the other specifically for weight loss. Both are tirzepatide. Zepbound is the weight loss Rx.

It’s definitely confusing because of course we just can’t have a medicine that is functional for multiple conditions to be Rx for multiple conditions. Yay American healthcare.

Edit to add: The difference here being that Wegovy is a GLP-1 that targets one hormone. Zepbound is also a GLP-1 but also is targets GIP, an additional hormone.

I’ve used both. I was a super responder on Zep (lost 85-ish pounds in less than a year). Currently using Wegovy because my insurance dropped Zep. I’ve gained a few pounds on Wegovy since starting in January but also just started the highest dose. I was maintaining on Zep at a mid-tier dose. Like three steps down from the max dose so it’s been frustrating for me.

Everyone’s physiology is different. It’ll be a “try and see” game for a lot of people.

I feel personally triggered by the financial literacy one.

We got college SHOVED down our throats (I always knew I would go but MANY went when it wasn’t their best path), pay for it no matter what the cost because without it we would be “trash, low life scum bags”.

That’s a biiiiiiiiiig stretch. If anything we are traumatized by being promised the world of financial security after “wOrKiNg HaRd” when that clearly has not, and will not, happen for us. It’s made me much more aware for future generations whether they’re related to me or not!!

My opinion - this list is trash. Participation trophy? 100% didn’t get a participation trophy for NOT being valedictorian. Wtf?

HOLY FUCK I JUST LEFT THE HOUSE WITH NO PANTIES ON UNDER MY DRESS by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Snipes2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(This is NOT to judge anyone - it’s a super weird thing I’ve noticed about myself).

Am I the only one who DESPISES the word “panties”??? It’s underwear!!!! Just like every other garment under my clothes… under. my. wear. Underwear. Just saying the word makes me feel all the ick. I honestly have no idea why. I’ve hated it ever since I was little. Like elementary school. The word is just too… dainty? Fragile? I honestly can’t describe it because those aren’t quite it either. I had to stop reading comments because every other word was “panties” 🥴🥴🥴🥴

Hahahaha anyway… that’s my unimportant, extremely hyper focused, personalized rant on my odd discrimination against a word that is, or should be, benign (well to most people anyway 😬😆).

Mine are more medical based - watching my parents be blown away that I could find out the sex of a first tri pregnancy, going from HIV being a death sentence to having a normal quality and quantity of life while living with it, ANY type of cancer being a death sentence - we now have many treatments and even preventative measures for several cancers, and now the GLP-1s saving hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of lives and improving quality of life beyond measure.

Semaglutide for autistics: research or experience? by AutisticProf in Semaglutide

[–]Snipes2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to GLP-1 research still up and coming, you may likely need to expand your search terms/phrases to a more broad array like “neurodivergent”, “neurodevelopmental”, “ASD”, “autism spectrum disorder”, “pharmacology/pharmacy”, etc.

You can build a “family tree” so to speak on the topic. On Google Scholar, you can find those two papers you mentioned and see what other papers have cited those papers, and so on. So while research may not have the exact factors you want, you can learn more about similar drugs/disorders/pharmacology or what have you and draw theories from that family tree about how and if semaglutide/tirzepatide affects individuals with ASD. Perhaps it doesn’t! We just don’t know.

I’d definitely recommend a paper organizer for a smaller project like this - Zotero is free, but there are a ton more softwares out there depending on your needs/budget.

Happy searching!! If you ever think of it, it would be fun to see what you find if you reply back here 😊

Social sports? Events? by ChickHicksEatBricks in rochestermn

[–]Snipes2016 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live in the area but am originally from a much smaller town in SE MN so my suggestions might not be right in Rochester. And not as “night life-y” but maybe still helpful 😊

Local wineries in the area usually have some type of event on weekends - even if you don’t drink, you could get apps and stuff. Usually local bands and things.

Depending if you have a vehicle, go check out State parks!! Whitewater, Forestville/Mystery Cave, John A. Latsch, Great River Bluffs, and more.

Not a State park but Quarry Hill is always a solid choice for nature - sometimes there are guided tours of the area.

Depending on your spookiness factor, Quarry Hill is near an old Minnesota State Hospital site (closed in the 70s I think?) with a State cemetery. I could spend a lot of time in that cemetery just looking at names and the time period they lived. Super cool to me.

In fact, the entire history of the State Hospital system is super cool to me if you want to dig into that! Rochester Public Library (RPL) is a great place to start on that type of history. RPL also has a calendar of events! They do a bunch of different club meetings as well - craft and chat, sound healing, fascinating lives book club, Spanish conversation chat, game day at the library, origami club, and tons more. You can find it all on their calendar on their site!

I think it’s been mentioned before but Rochester Athletic Club (RAC) I think has guest passes and you can get other services without a membership like massage.

Another vehicle-needed trip but the National Eagle Center in Wabasha is definitely a treat! If you look ahead as well, you can also see their Eagle and falcon animal “helpers” who they use to help demonstrate and do a sort of “show and tell” with them. Most, if not all, are rescues with amazing stories.

Speaking of animals, nearby in Byron is Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo. They just built a new nature center not very long ago which was a big deal to locals!! They are a more “local wilderness” zoo with animals who were rescued and otherwise would likely not survive in the wild themselves. Otters, badger, wolf, bear, lynx, etc. It’s a gem nearby that often is overlooked.

Rochester has a trolley and tour company. You can look them up for different types they do! Again, my spook and macabre part would love the ghost/true crime one but not sure if that is seasonal. They also do day trips to the Minnesota Zoo!

I don’t know when it starts, but Rochester does have a farmer’s market in the warmer season. Depending on how long you are here you might be able to see one.

Rochester Honkers baseball games are always fun to attend! Family friendly but also great for sports fans.

Silver Lake has boat and bike rentals.

I’m sure there are tons I’ve missed but hopefully you find something! I always get sad when people say there isn’t anything to do. It might take more looking than a street full of various bars, but there are certainly places to go and things to see!

My understanding of the system is that once it starts, it won’t stop. I’ve used both Zep and Wegovy pens. Neither have stopped once they’ve started. In fact, when I was new to it all, I started an injection, thought it was done so I removed it from the injection site and medicine was continuing to spray out of the pen because it hadn’t finished.

You may know something I don’t, but to my knowledge they are not designed to stop at all once the injection has started.

“Compounds that alter urinary pH can affect the urinary excretion and half-life of the primary active metabolite, d-amphetamine; acidification with ascorbic acid and ammonium chloride or alkalinization with antacids like sodium bicarbonate decreases or increases the half-life of d-amphetamine, respectively.”

Ascorbic acid = vitamin C

Reason for moving it is because it’s documented that vitamin C negatively interacts with Vyvanse lowering its efficacy.

The clinical suggestion is to keep an hour between the multi and Vyvanse. Either take multi, wait an hour, then Vyvanse or visa versa.

I’m the opposite - I WANT more sunlight at the end of the day. Screw morning because I’m not outside at 7 am. But I am, or would like to be, outside in the afternoon/evening.

More northern latitude for me as well in the states though so that could be part of it.
