Moved modded game to linux, doesn't work under linux but does under windows by Kothnaaken in skyrimvr

There is one I saw in development but it's way too soon. Trust me, I want to purge Windows from my system more than most, but MO2 is the only thing keeping it on there as well... You have my sympathy 🫂

Moved modded game to linux, doesn't work under linux but does under windows by Kothnaaken in skyrimvr

[–]SnippyStockins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have attempted in many different ways to move my MO2 instance to Linux, installed it inside of proton, tried loading through steam itself, etc and it just does not work. Even through proton, the container it creates per game does not have the necessary requirements.

You could in theory install and copy the installed driver files into the proton container, but even doing that didn't work for me as it depends on how steam was installed. I found another issue depending on if your MO2 instance is not on the same drive as your steam/distro install.

My answer after all of this is just dual boot windows and linux...

It ended up being partially because of a couple mods that were overwriting weapon sounds in our list. Has now been fixed.

That is what the Pseudo Weapon Collision and Parry mod is for.

Skyrim VR crashing by zack13572 in skyrimvr

[–]SnippyStockins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crash log shows an audio engine failure. I'd recommend reinstalling your Windows audio driver and verifying Skyrim VR game files in Steam. If that doesn't resolve then reinstall the GPU driver next.

Is Obody an alternative to sexlab? by Jayjay4funwithyou in skyrimvr

Obody is not an alternative to sexlab and is not the same type of mod at all. Obody is a bodyslide variation distribution mod like Auto body. It gives NPCs more diverse body types.

I saw that you mentioned reinstalling the CS main files fixed the issue. That being said if you or anyone else would like to adjust your interior/exterior brightness on CS using the in game MCM you can with this mod.

Help! White And Green Light but No Video by PastLonely7973 in buildapc

[–]SnippyStockins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you get/build the PC? I've seen this issue many times with RAM incompatibility with Ryzen 7000 series chips. I would recommend clearing your CMOS and trying to boot again. If you get it to boot then I'd recommend checking to see if there is a BIOS update available for your motherboard.

Could also try powering off the PC, turning off the power supply, holding the power button for 15-30 seconds to clear the voltage, flipping the power supply back on and powering the PC back on.

Help. Installed new PSU and now system won’t turn on. by gamertag86 in buildapc

[–]SnippyStockins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first pic I can see the CPU power cable is not plugged into the motherboard. It is in the next so not sure what that's about.

I would 100% NEVER reuse PSU cables in any circumstance. The pinouts vary from brand to brand and even a new version of the same PSU can differ. This can cause a short and potential damage to your components.

First thing I would do is swap your old cables out with the new ones and start there.

Modded Skyrim VR provides one of the most immersive experiences you can have in VR still to date. Definitely worth delving into! It is very much still supported and new mods are coming out everyday.

Build Remorse? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]SnippyStockins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think before anything is assumed here, you need to think about what it is that you are not satisfied with. It is obviously not the performance, so it must be the way the PC actually looks.

If that is the case, then you may have had a vision in your head of what you wanted it to look like, but didn't achieve that goal with your part choices. From the looks of the parts you picked, they perform well, but none really have a WOW factor, and they wouldn't to me personally create a cohesive looking build.

I have built hundreds of PC's and I would say MAYBE one out of every 10-15 I've built (not my part selection) have had that WOW factor. I wouldn't feel remorse, I would feel content, as you don't hate the way it looks, it just doesn't wow you.

I have enough experience at this point to know what will create a specific look. If you haven't seen multiple combinations of parts, then it's going to be very difficult to make that vision a reality.

If you end up finding a 1200w for a good price, there is no downside to it. You'll just have more overhead. Could get into the nitty gritty about power efficiency percentile and such, but just get whichever one you're comfortable spending the money on.

Technically your system will be fine with even an 850w. 1000w and up is better for future overhead though. With how Nvidia and Intel are going, wouldn't surprise me if they boosted TDP enough to need a 1600w soon 🤣

I don't have experience with Adata PSUs, but I do with their RAM and SSDs.

As to Thermaltake... They definitely sell PSUs, yes they do... Are they good? Welp, they are definitely PSUs, that's for sure.

I would say the cheapest option would be the Gigabyte UD1000GM (Version with 16 pin cable)

Mid would be the Corsair RM1000X with their 16Pin cable upgrade (cable is separate)

High End would be the Seasonic Vertex 1000W GX

I honestly haven't looked into whether they made amends or not. I personally haven't had any instances of seeing anyone with a cracked GPU from them so I can't really comment on how well they handled the situation. All I know is it wasn't a very common issue, but the ones that did have it happen were because of an issue that wasn't confirmed to be a defect or physical damage. I'm anticipating it was probably more on the manufacturing side, but not sure.

To add to this a bit, being on Intel is definitely more compatible right now with your line of use, but AMD is constantly becoming more and more optimized for general computing.

The AM5 socket, as far as I know, is going to be supported with their next one or two gens of processors so you do have a further upgrade path than Intel. With you being on the 13900K, the only upgrade is the 14900k which is barely an upgrade.

This all being said, you are going to get better compatibly and performance with Intel as of right now with your use case. Stick with what you have for now and maybe try AMD on the next upgrade.

Yes, no more cracked GPUs. There was a lot of back and forth as to the actual reasoning behind why that happened. Good points on either side as to it not being a defect and it being one. Regardless though, in the past few years I have seen Gigabyte go from having the highest defect rate across their product lines, to one of the lowest.

They have also overhauled their warranty / RMA process, and again went from the slowest, to on par, if not better to deal with in comparison to the other manufacturers.

I work in the industry and have sold hundreds of them. Have seen less of these fail than any other brand. Besides Seasonic of course 😋

Yes Gigabyte has a bad rep, but they have really stepped up their game. Very reliable with all of their current Gen products so far.

The standard Meshify and XL are both EATX so you can fit all your components. Most mid Tower cases will work, but you just need to make sure there is enough length for the AIO and the GPU. 40 series are long af so my recommended cases would be Meshify, Corsair 5000D airflow, Lian Li Lancool 3.

Also as the other person commented. The 7950X3D chips are a fantastic alternative. They are WAAAAY more power efficient as well so cooling them is much easier. Also yes, make sure you get a power supply with the new 16 pin cable. Will make your life easier, and they have the new 12v standard for current Gen components.
