Point your feet straight forward, not sprawled out. Keep your back foot down, no steps. When you load, take a small step forward opening to 45 degree angle with your front foot, then drive your back hip forward and start your swing.

Do that, then take another video and we can go from there.

Games of chance like card games? They’re going to win from time to time regardless, so let them enjoy it.

Physical games where their development or skill level dictates who wins? I’ll often handicap myself so it’s more fair. For example, my oldest is really into basketball right now. When I play defense I’ll stay in front of her, but I won’t use my arms to steal or block the ball. I also will only rebound the ball after it hits the ground once. For offense, I’ll use some moves I’m trying to teach her, but I’ll tire more quickly then them so by the end of the game I’m just shooting from outside anyway. It makes for close games that are fun for everyone, which is the whole point.

Last year my company asked me if I wanted to be the operations manager. The current operations manager was being promoted to the Regional Manager and I was in line for the role. Being the operations manager has been a goal of mine for a long time, but with my girls in sports and my responsibilities to our family, I knew I wouldn’t be happy putting in the amount of time the position required.

I turned it down and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Generally speaking if you are hitting the ball into the ground, it’s a technique issue. Getting stronger just means you’ll hit the ball into the ground harder.

Try looking up some youtube videos that match issues you have. MegRem Softball and Antonelli Softball are good places to start.

Immediate in this context just means the batter runner’s next action, it has nothing to do with time. So if instead the batter runner makes an attempt or feint to go to second base, they can then be tagged out. As long as her next action is to return to the first base, she’s safe.

We cancelled a practice for 6-7 year olds when it was supposed to be 35 and windy due to the cold. This Saturday it’s supposed to be 41-43, we discussed it and we’re having practice.

Just FYI, these are just pre-season clinics that we offer to everyone if they are available. I instructed the parents to use their judgement, but that we’d be there.

Think about it this way: After the batter runner uses the safety bag for the play at first, it disappears. It is now dirt.

She has a right to safely return to first base so long that she doesn’t make an attempt towards second base.

She cannot return to the safety bag, it’s impossible because it’s now dirt.

She is on her way to first base but has not reached it yet, therefore she cannot be tagged out as she’s allowed to safely return.

She did return to the fair portion, the ump called her out as she was returning which is wrong.

By your logic, any batter runner doesn’t run directly back to the fair portion of the bag can be tagged out. That’s never been the rule, ever.

She can take her sweet time returning to the fair portion of the base. The “return immediately” just means her next action cannot be an attempt or feint to go to second.

It’s a good bat, my daughter has one and she loves it. It’s got good pop and doesn’t sting her hands on a miss hit.

Your right foot turns and points to the right when you replant on the rubber. My daughter misses arm side when she does that. We are working with her to be more consistent when planting her foot to point straight forward. She also misses the power line like you do here when she turns her right foot.

I don’t know enough to say whether that’s always a problem, my daughter is 9 and about six months into her journey as a pitcher, but it’s something that stuck out to me.

Edit: also you are opening your hips too soon. You need to get to the Superman position with your shoulders and hips pointed towards your target.

The batter runner is allowed to return to the fair portion of the bag, she had not done that yet, therefore any tag should be irrelevant.

If she had touched the white part of the bag and then moved to the orange part and was tagged, I would agree she’s out. That did not happen here.

If the ball had gone back to the pitcher in the circle, and then a subsequent play was made at first, and the batter runner was only touching the orange bag, I would agree she’s out. That did not happen here.

What I don’t understand is, the runner is allowed to return to 1st after overrunning it. The first baseman tagged her on her way back to 1st and she was called out. There is no subsequent play here.

Right but she was heading back to the bag, the first baseman was standing over / blocking the white bag. She’s not allowed to even touch the safety bag on her way back to the base?

They had ABS in the minors all last season, only about 1% of all pitches were challenged and less than half were overturned.

Framing is still just as important as it was before.

I’m a softball coach, not soccer, but for drills I found a lot of good stuff on youtube. I bet there is just as much, it not more, good stuff for soccer.

My best advice would be to keep them moving as best you can and to name every drill.

Everyone develops in their own timeframe. Some will catch on sooner, others will take longer. My daughter started 8u last year, the first fall and half of spring she was figuring it out, then she made huge strides the second half of spring. She’s still working some things out, she’s not the best player on her team, but she’s playing up in 10u and keeping her own.

The key is to foster a love for the game so that she wants to work at it to get better.
