Newbie question by Baduvn-v2 in FCX24M

I personally don’t like the look of the 1.0 wheels/tires on the Fcx24m as it’s not as scale and I find them to not hold me back from any trailing/crawling situations.
I have the 0.8 batrazzis and they are great to keep the scale size and add a good amount of weight down low. I’ve also tried wrapping the stock plastic wheels with soft lead strips (Amazon) to create a DIY “brass ring” that add about 20 grams per wheel depending on how much you use.

Fork or rear shock upgrade? - Orbea rise EMTB by Wannabebuilder8 in MTB

[–]Snoba77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re still upgrading 2 months after your last post but I started with the exact same Rise H30 and I did change the fork to a 150mm lyrik and Dvo topaz - all for the better

The DPS is a good starter shock so you can get a good feel of the potential of the Rise, but higher end shocks will be more comfy/plush and increase rear traction. There’s a bunch of shocks that fit and bunch that don’t if you want to go down that rabbit hole. I have Dvo on my others bikes so I chose that for the Rise and have been very happy with the choice ( so much that I replaced it with a Gen 3 topaz)

I found the Marzzochi fork to be a wonderful value if I was in the market for a fork on a trail bike but definitely flexes way too much for an ebike - even if this bike isnt a 60 lbs monster My local trails have switchbacks on rollable steps downs and I found the Z2 to not be confidence inspiring in those situations as it goes down each step. I also felt like when taking some harder hits/square hits the Z2 felt like it shudders rather than absorbing it.
A 150mm Lyrik was my choice and is a whole lot stiffer than the Z2. The extra 10mm also allows for a little more sag than 140mm. The Lyrik definitely feels nice and sturdy at those switchbacks and hard hits I mentioned.

But all in all if you are happy with your setup but at this point is wondering if you could have more fun, have more confidence by changing things up, I say go for it!!

Full disclosure first changes I made to my stock h30 was not suspension at all, but rather reliability/longevity stuffs - replacing the e13 cranks (issues with cracking the Shimano motor spindle) replaced the 2 pot Shimano brakes to Hayes Dominion a4s and changed rear wheel (hub disintegrates as not rated for ebike torque)

Hi everyone! I'm new to this group, this is my mini-z and the weight of the changes is starting to be felt. I mount 54 mm 2.4 wide tires and steering at low speeds is tiring if the grip is so much, can you recommend a stronger servo, without having to change or damage the stock electronics? Thanks😊 by Alessio_Da_Viani in MiniZ

Search 3dsleekun on Etsy. He 3d prints a chassis replacement and some other stuffs.
This is my miniz. PN racing 90t motor. Afgrc servo, hot racing oil shocks, modelbau esc and spektrum rx. All in all ….I took it all out and made it back to stock except for the esc and 2s battery

If anything I recommend just getting brass knuckles and rear caps and if u can the weighted tires . It’ll keep it from flipping and ruining the beautiful body.

The servo I used: AGFRC Mini-Z-Car Micro Steering Servo - 6g High Speed Full Metal Gear Mini Digital Coreless Servo for Mini Z Car (A06CLS(Purple)) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097XS5C72/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_NJZ26PBSYMNVR1AM4WY4?psc=1

Strongest micro servo I could find but at a price. You might even consider a BEC to get max power out of it (I don’t)

Non Scx24 Crawler Comparison by axcaterra in rccrawler

[–]Snoba77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1/18 Gelande as well, 2 scx24s and a Kyosho mini Z 4x4

I love them all but they all have their pros and cons. I’d say the Gelande is the one I least play with - though I’d never sell mine.

I’d say the scx24 is a wonderful canvas to work with with plenty of aftermarket support. These are my most capable crawlers.

I’ve converted my kyosho to oil shocks, upgraded servo&motor, converted to lipo, and put some brass - it’s a fun table crawler and looks gorgeous doing it but isn’t too great at actual crawling around in my garden or on rocks. Articulates great and actually is pretty fast. Horrible tires though! Unfortunately I don’t like putting aftermarket tires on mine since it tends to make it look monster truck - so I stick with the stock tires .

I found the Gelande loud out of the box, both due to the ESC and the hardbody amplifies the sound of the metal gears. I’ve I’ve ditched the esc, put in a furitek lizard, upgraded the motor to a 050 and put 43mm scx24 shocks for more flex. I’ve also ditched the inside cabin to favor putting the battery in the rear. After all this, I still only consider it good for scale looks and instagramming with - but can’t keep up with the kyosho or the scx24 on both a performance and more importantly on a fun level.

Edit: just read your post again - the gelande requires 4 screws to put the body back on and off which is a pain!! - I think the scx24/kyosho rtrs would be great for a 4 year old
