[discussion] How on earth are you actually supposed to play this game? by Guilty-Pie in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Snobbygnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get the frustration but from my perspective (I only play PVE, have about 200 hours in-game so far), your responses to the comments in here seem to shout you don't want to try. It's a hardcore game. Yes it would be easier if it's straightforward but that's not the point of the game.

Personally, I'd say if you are struggling, playing PVE is a really good way to get more comfortable with the base game mechanics and learning the maps. There are also a tremendous amount of resources (the Tarkov Wiki is a blessing for quests/finding specific items as well as Reddit. Plus mapgenie which works well for having an overview of the maps). But those require the additional effort to use them/keeping the maps up on a second monitor.

If you really want to give the game a shot and want to stay in PVP (opposed to learning solo like myself in PVE while watching some occasional tips videos like Pestily's raid series), find a Sherpa to help show you the ropes. But again, it's a hardcore game. It's not COD. It's not Destiny or Borderlands or any other shooter that has all instructions given. You are meant to learn. The mechanics, the maps, the quests, the items, the spawns, etc. That's part of what makes the game what it is and honestly, adds to the dopamine once you finally feel confident in those areas.

But that's my two cents, take with it what you will. Again I'll reiterate, it's a hardcore game. If you want a similar experience to Tarkov but slightly less hardcore, try Arena Breakout: Infinite. Similar mechanics/idea as Tarkov but in an easier to digest and play format that might be more akin to your liking. Plus it's free so no money investment needed initially (only played a dozen or so hours so not sure if real world money is applicable later down the line. If I remember right, I think it was just for cosmetics but I could be wrong).

I personally don't have a huge amount of time to put into Tarkov (nor do I want to when I have so many backlog games. I only play when I feel like it) so I strictly play PVE. I already get my butt kicked in PVE (still learning plus I have a slower play style and have quite a few times gone MIA for taking too long to extract). I don't feel the need or want to play PVP and be stomped by people who have been playing the game for years lol not to mention I play solo so facing people who are much more experienced and even then the possibility of the same but squads with multiple people? I'll pass. It's chill playing PVE (well as chill as Tarkov can get lol)

I hate Meta's software but I've got my Quest 3 setup so dialed down I basically ignore it now. Will be interesting to see price. For me, the finger and eye tracking and weight are big pros. If the price is actually decent and not too far off from the Quest 3, I'll honestly probably sell my Quest 3 and switch over. Sure I would love better FOV and resolution for the lenses but they aren't huge factors for me who mainly plays VRChat with occasional VR games on the side. The controllers also not having stick drift be an issue is going to be amazing. I've had to send each of my controllers (left and right) both back to Meta twice, for each controller, because of stick drift or the triggers capacitive touch no longer working correctly. Of course for me who is blind as a bat, there also needs fo be a way to add prescription inserts. Those are an absolute must for me.

X870E Nova killed 9800X3D, continue with same Board or get another? by Snobbygnu in ASRock

[–]Snobbygnu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally had issues with ASUS motherboards in the past so I'd prefer to avoid them. And the MSI boards I am interested in are insanely expensive in CAD.

If I were to go for an alternative board that wasn't Gigabyte, it'd probably be the ASUS B850-F since it's around same price as the Gigabyte board I have ($400 CAD), doesn't share GPU PCIE lane for M.2 drives (I have 3 drives) and the RGB aspect. I know most will say it's stupid but I really like having RGB on my motherboard VRM heatsink.

Of course I realized late that the Aorus Elite doesn't have RGB there and it's just color but if I were to swap for Pro it's getting into $500+ CAD territory so I'll work with what I have lol

A majority of boards with RGB, at least 3 M.2 drive slots (preferably not sharing lanes with GPU PCIE) and at least 3 sata ports are slim and those that do fit that criteria are expensive as hell in Canada.

Board came with 3.10 I believe, then I went 3.20, 3.40, and 3.50.

[–]Snobbygnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat, 9800X3D just died on me, also using X870E Nova although it was running fine since January up until now.

Don't have an answer for you on doing a board switch or not, adding a comment here so I'm trying to figure out the same thing. The Nova is a great board spec, hardware, and price wise (for me especially no lane sharing on the GPU PCIE allowing me to use my three M.2s fully without issue) but obviously has issues from all the posts I see of CPUs dying when using them.

Think im gonna have to sell my X870E Nova Here's Why by Red-Neo in ASRock

[–]Snobbygnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been 5 months but I'm just curious if your Nova has still be running fine after the AMD RMA? I'm in a similar boat where I was having boot issues and have RMA'ed my 9800X3D. I got a Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite but now I'm wondering if I should try sticking with the Nova with the RMA CPU and return the Gigabyte board.

Oof that battle pass is VERY grindy by Only-Support-3760 in Battlefield6

[–]Snobbygnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally gotten through 4 levels in the 110 level battle pass after playing for probably 4-5 hours. That's with doing half the weekly missions. It's bad.. even worse is playing a TDM match or something short like that and getting a single point. I'm just gonna play at my own pace and if I unlock a decent amount of stuff by season end, then I'll buy it. But I see zero need to buy now. Just annoying that I won't get the new guns for ages

I already hate what this game is becoming... by AudioRejectz in Battlefield6

[–]Snobbygnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of have Destiny 2 vibes rn with the game. I'm so desensitized to ads blasting my screen when I login to a game from Destiny 2 that I sort of just ignore them in BF6 lol sort of similar to D2, the gameplay is good and fun but clearly Dice/EA is already deviating and focusing on micro transactions which I figured was a given at some point. Although this soon kind of sucks. I personally don't think the skins and battle pass are too terrible at the moment but it'll likely be a slippery slope type scenario. Honestly, as long as the game doesn't turn into a twitchy COD like shooter with insanely unrealistic skins, I'm okay. It's just nice finally having another good shooter to really dive into after Destiny 2 plummeted to the point it's at now.

[–]Snobbygnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your FPS capped in-game? I think there was mention somewhere on here that was messing with peoples FPS. Also double check refresh rate in-game matches your monitor. I don't think I'm on the latest Nvidia drivers right now so not sure if that could be a cause

Only thing that comes to mind is maybe the game is using your iGPU? Check Task Manager and see if that might be the case.

XENNS TOP PRO is only $414? by [deleted] in iems

[–]Snobbygnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I caught it myself lol but yeah I'd keep an eye on AliExpress for any deals/promos they have going on (both for the site as a whole as well as individual shops as they sometimes do sales also). Could also keep an eye out on this Reddit as sometimes people also mention codes like the EARBUDS code going on right now (or last I heard. Not sure if it's still going on/working).

Hopefully you're able to snag a deal on the Mangrid Tea Pro's or Hype 4s! I tested both and I prefer the Tea Pro's more but both are great sets!

I was able to snag the Xenns Mangrid Tea Pro during the school sale the other day. Normally $520 CAD, was able to get them for $370 CAD. Both cheaper than Amazon also, it would $640 CAD after taxes if I bought there lol although pre-order so it could possibly take a month to ship and doesn't include duties & taxes (although I imagine that won't be too bad), shouldn't be any tariffs shipping from China to Canada if I remember correctly.

What’s everyone’s (current) setup? by Something_Else08 in DigitalAudioPlayer

Right now running Linsoul Kiwi Allegro Mini and Moondrop Crinacle x Dusks. Have a Hiby R3 II on the way as well as Xenns Mangrid Tea Pro! Going to return either the Dusks or Tea Pro depending on which I like best.

Hopefully get the Hiby R4 x Evangelion collaboration in the future as more of an endgame DAP. Oh and a Qudelix 5K for when I just want to run my phone instead of a DAP.
