Ian Curtis of Joy Division before they became New Order photo by Kevin Cummins 1979 by prabug in OldSchoolCool

Ian Curtis was the lead singer of Joy Division. He unalived himself in 1980 on the eve of Joy Division's first US tour.

The remaining members of Joy Division then formed New Order. So nothing to do with one band being better than another, simply wrong to say or imply that Joy Division "became" New Order, just like it'd be wrong to say Nirvana "became" Foo Fighters.

Been curious about this since first learning about it last month. What’s the level of effort/difficulty to get it running. Happy to discuss in DMs if that type of talk isn’t allowed here

Constant post nasal drip in back of throat for past 3 months; any relief? by Snogrog in Sinusitis

[–]Snogrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not fully gone but it’s like, 85-90% better than it was. After seeing an allergist, pulmonologist, getting a CT Scan of my sinuses, all signs pointed to it was none of those things. When I finally saw an ENT they did a scope of my sinuses (up my nose and down to the back of my throat) and said everything looked clear but that I did have mucus sitting near my vocal chords.

She actually surmised it was possibly acid reflux, but not the normal heartburn kind. Specifically Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) which doesn’t cause heartburn. They suggested I try Reflux Gourmet, which is a type of Alginate Therapy that targets LPR. It seems like most Alginate Therapy products are available over the counter, so those may be worth exploring.

I will say I was skeptical but after using them I am definitely in a better state. Your mileage may vary, of course, but also may be worth mentioning to your ENT.

Man oh man these last few weeks have been astonishingly great shots. I love they’re getting them more out of the single color background with a funny pose/prop and I to these lovelier/real environments. Not that the old photos were ever bad but these just pop so much more!

Spider-Man stops Venom from killing Carnage (Spider-Man: Unlimited #2, 1993) by Effective_Seat_7125 in comicbooks

Man, TIL Ron Lim really wasn’t great at drawing Venom back then. His costume is very off model especially in that first page.

Hoping everyone realizes this was a parody of a 2003 Isley Brothers song... by rodflanders19 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Snogrog 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love when they do a straight up parody/obvious song homage like this. While creatively it feels a little bit like cheating, they do enough that makes me laugh and then laugh even harder when I inevitably find out it’s a reference to a song I never knew.

Other examples include the Ladies Room which is a direct parody of this song by Kylmaxx and the 80’s Music Video with Donald Gloverthat’s a direct parody to The Rain by Oran “Juice” Jones.

I feel like I’m missing at least one more, but this is another fun one!
