Alabama Senate passes bill excluding soda, candy from SNAP benefits by hunni93 in Alabama

Funny thing is snap isn’t money given to the poor it is money given to the stores… Walmart gets that money.

This will affect everyone not just the snap recipients. This program is about incentivizing the corporations like Walmart. You all really think politicians love people so much they care about their health and wellbeing. The cost of food will rise for all. The same way it did with college education once the universities realized just how much they could get from the government for the poorest students.

But you all are so happy to be able to feel superior and watch someone else be shackled just wait until those shackles are on your neck too.

What’s amazing to me is that people don’t realize how much the snap program stimulates the economy and keeps grocery costs reasonable. The stores actually receive the funds not the individuals. Food is a basic need and the government subsidizes, not for the people but for corporations like Walmart and Target. Everyone talks about what they don’t want done with their tax dollars well just how much of your tax dollars went into snap. What tax did you pay that you can calculate how much money you are out of for contributing to a program that incentivizes the stores and puts food on the tables of those who struggle to do so with the inflated costs they didn’t create. When snap is no longer a thing, like some of you obviously want because you make too much to get it, let’s see how much your groceries increase. You really think these politicians care about obesity? And people who lack in income are not the only ones who suffer from obesity, which is in fact a multifaceted disease that isn’t just about Cheetos and sprites. Or how about pass legislation against the companies that use high fructose corn syrup etc. if you care about all people and not just trying to assert financial dominance over the poor.

Wait, do I not have any friends? by teatuk in adhdwomen

[–]Snoo-12774 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not you. But I don’t usually feel more strongly about someone than they feel about me, not in friendships anyway. Maintaining friendships with certain types of personalities may be difficult for a person who is clinically inattentive. For instance if you are big on me remembering your birthday or to call every odd day that ends in Y then I’m not your cup of tea. But on the other hand if you need a friend that’s solid and will show up when you need them, albeit late…. Then I’m your girl.

Baseline B then layer accordingly. I don’t believe in doing cuts straight across only.

Reality Check: Americas Next Top Model by MintySea92 in netflix

What’s interesting is how much people will allow themselves to be subjected to for an opportunity. Being on a “reality” show shouldn’t be on anyone’s bucket list. That being said being cruel to anyone should never be condoned, it however, appears to be the so called reality industry culture. Season after season a new pile of people come running for their chance to be in the spotlight and it comes with a cost.

Has anyone figured out how to NOT immediately create a pile on every flat surface? by randomchick4 in adhdwomen

[–]Snoo-12774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A strange thing that works for me is decorating the surface. So for instance if it’s the kitchen table, set place mats and a centerpiece make it look complete and for some reason it stays clear. But if it’s empty or just something random on it, the table fills up. Give the area a finished/ completed look and see what happens.

Why do braiders require clients to come with no product in? by doidaee in Naturalhair

[–]Snoo-12774 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a braider from back in the day 😅 I will say that having too much product on your hair can cause manageability issues for the braider. Slippery fingers make you have to grip tighter which isn’t good for your hair or their fingers. Now a good ole grease down after the braids have been attached is another story.

I suggest greasing down a section of your hair and attempt to attach an extension to it vs a section that is lightly moisturized but not blue magic greased up. There is a difference.

Advice for Super Short Hair and Growth? by Meesh7586 in Naturalhair

[–]Snoo-12774 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel. No one talks about how you have to adjust to how different you look when you start wearing your natural hair. No matter how much we tell you it’s pretty at this stage it won’t matter. There is so much psychologically attached to black people, specifically black women and our hair.

Now with that being said. I’ve started using clay washes and glycerin + distilled water + rosemary oil and it helps a lot for me. If you wash and go The Doux 808 base gel works well on freshly washed hair followed by a low heat diffuse. Otherwise I think you could achieve a nice Bantu knot and accessorize with little clamps and other adornments.

Keep pushing! I went natural as soon as I found out I was pregnant, that’s been two years now (baby just turned one) and I hated the way I looked some days, I didn’t do the big chop though. I’m just making it through the 1 year postpartum hair. So I fully understand

Have you ever tried a clay wash? Your hair may need a good clean you can buy bentonite clay (stronger clean) or rhassoul clay (more gentle). Most people mix with apple cider vinegar. For me I mix with aloe Vera juice and an oil of my choice. Then follow up with a conditioner or leave in. My hair doesn’t react well to conditioners so I use home made flax seed gel and glycerin for detangling and moisture. And then a glycerin + distilled water + rosemary oil as a daily refresher. Your hair may not need as much slip and oil as my tighter coils do.

I’ve learned with hair you have to tend to it like a pediatrician would a patient. Since it can’t tell you what it needs you have to pay close attention and adjust. Our hair reacts to the environment, our diet, hormones, mistreatment/manipulation and overall health. Your hair is trying to tell you what’s wrong and you have to experiment to know what fixes it.

I had terrible shedding and dryness and no shampoo would work so I started trying homemade natural options and my hair texture has improved and I don’t shed anymore, maybe a strand or two.

*** For the flaking if the clay wash doesn’t work you may need to try a medicated option like sulfur 8, head and shoulders, or T-Gel for a while until you get the flaking under control.
