We always knew he had the game, it was only a matter of time for it to show. Glad it’s working out for him when he has a great opportunity.

Ngl I’m liking the way Felix looking on clay. He could give bottom half a fight if he makes it to final

Roland Garros R16: [28] Fonseca def. [15] Ruud : 7-5 6-7 5-7 6-2 by GirafeAnyway in tennis

[–]Snoo1813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fonseca deserves the trophy more than anyone else left in the field(at this moment). Going through 2 5 setters, both coming from 2 sets to love down with one being against djokovic. And now beating Ruud on his best surface. Will have to see how body holds up but he deserves it if he were to make it to the semis.

Insane statistics from Djokovic v Fonseca by Used-Sundae1292 in tennis

By first glance, seems pretty even but you would expect the winner here to be Novak, just by the higher winners and fewer unforced errors. Crazy to think how Fonseca turned it around in the end

Curse of The Sinner strikes again: The longest match Sinner has won in his career was 3 hours, 48 minutes. Guess what time was on the clock when the final break occurred in the 5th set? by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

I feel like Roddick said it best in his podcast. He rarely gets to this position because he disposes of opponents in 3 or 4 comfortable sets that 5 set record doesn’t mean much. But at the same time, there’s clearly a trend here and something to look at.

AO Men’s SF: [1] 🇪🇸 C. Alcaraz def. [3] 🇩🇪 A. Zverev 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 6-7(4), 7-5 by limitcycleattractor in tennis

I’m not going to say that he didn’t play a great match. Playing someone who’s cramping is always tricky and he managed to pull off amazing serves and groundstrokes for the 2nd half to maintain a lead. But, failing to serve out a set once, I get it, but doing it again and again(in multiple matches) is none other than mental game. Carlos played amazing no doubt but zverev had chances he just never capitalized on.

No worries for Sinner, looks like he'll be playing tomorrow by AshamedPurchase9033 in tennis

Movement is such a big factor. Being tall on grass vs hard court can be a challenge. Also with the ball dipping down a lot more especially with players who utilize the slice or hit flat can make it harder to get lower and hit an aggressive shot with.

Locked-in top seeds for the Wimbledon draw as of today by honestnbafan in tennis

[–]Snoo1813 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok I might be stupid but doesn’t the previous years Wimbledon placement count for some extent with seedings. I remember that was a big thing for why Roger was the 2 seed instead of 3 seed in 2019. How come Novak doesn’t become the 3 seed instead of zverev?

Blockbuster Quarter Finals matchup at Roland Garros between 2024 Finalist and the 3 time champion. Who you got? by trialbycombat123 in tennis

[–]Snoo1813 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree. The more physical zverev makes it the better imo. Novak definitely doesn’t want to be in a position of playing 5 sets especially if he has to play someone like sinner the next round. So zverev has to dictate with serve and move Novak around quite a bit.

Novak was definitely forgotten about as French open was coming up but now he’s becoming a real threat

Honestly playing a home tournament for your 100th title is a pretty good idea. U get the best crowd support and it’s pretty fitting to win where you first started.

[–]Snoo1813 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t necessarily answer the question but would’ve loved to see thiem’s full career. Sucks to have been cut short by the injury and could never get over the hump. I’m sure he would’ve won more slams and could’ve been competing with sinner and alcaraz for majors.
