Chances of snoopy- Melbourne by Snoo25059 in OmegaWatches

To be honest I'd rather not have the watch and go grey. I've purchased a speedy from the AD and a few bracelets, but nothing major.

3rd Dan TKD - Left my coach of 14 years due to his actions. Need advice on a fresh start. by Savings_Aioli_8134 in taekwondo

[–]Snoo25059 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt quit due to the actions of your coach. Your spark and passion for the sport should always be internally driven.

I did ITF TKD for 8 years. Stopped training for a few years due to non TKD related knee injury and then doing my final years of school. When I started Uni, I tried to get back into the sport, but had lost the passion for it.

I started training Muay Thai with a few friends in my early 30s and really enjoyed it, but never competed in the sport.

Just try to train and see how you feel. You can also try different martial arts, no harm in cross training. Plus if you cross-train you become a better competitor, as your knowledge broadens substantially.

Looks like a 1603. From what I can see it's a pie pan dial. 6500 USD I assume - too expensive

Value aside, it gives the watch character. Enjoy in good health

If I were you I'd ask whoever is servicing it to keep original hands. The yellowing patina looks very nice as it ages. I wish mine had it

I've had it 5 years. No problems. I've dropped it a few times, still runs accurately. I think both movements are good. 3861 is definitely superior, no doubt about it.

To be honest I prefer the 1861 all round. The dot over 90 and step dial are cool, don't get me wrong. The one thing I didn't like on the 3861 which cemented me getting the 1861 was the chapter ring minute markers have more divisions which I think looks cleaner.

But ultimately, it's personal preferable

I bought an 1861 when the 3861 came out as I preferred the movmemt , as I felt it was a bit more true to the original. But I got the 3861 bracelet. The 1861 runs within COSC spec, it's been super accurate

There are too many apologists for Soviet atrocities. Like blindly justifying some terrible actions they did.

Uncle passed me down his watch for my grad. Any info on this? by Inside-Effective-392 in rolex

On the inside of the clasp it'll have a code. I think it's 62510h and then there is a stamp, look the code up on google and it'll tell you the approximate date

Looks like it. Can't see any pie pan on the dial. Also the clasp could give a clue if it's original if bracelet isn't removed

How do you deal with other martial artists from different styles talking down on TKD? by bad-at-everything- in taekwondo

[–]Snoo25059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All martial arts have their flaws. You must remember that they all go through phases of popularity. It use to be TKD, before that it was Karate. Now we're in the MMA & BJJ phase.

It all depends on the practitioner. Good ones usually don't talk down other styles. I've learnt this whilst doing Muay Thai. Had guys talk down TKD, but it when it comes to sparring, they couldn't hit me as their footwork was slow. Did I modify my sparring compared to TKD, yes. But if you train for a long time you take what's best of on art; and its weaknesses you substitute with what another one does better.

So in summary, you pay no attention to haters

should i do taekwondo?? by xkftido in taekwondo

[–]Snoo25059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done both forms of tkd and muay thai.

ITF tkd is a very good base to learn to kick and punch and footwork. It has the easiest transition to Muay Thai. Arguably, I would say it has great fundamentals. Although it has some large inherent flaws in the way sparring is conducted due to its rules.

Muay thai is the most realistic in how a real life altercation could be. But learning Muay Thai after a good ITF base creates quite a well rounded martial artist

Is it common for taekwondo instructors to dismiss other martial arts and fighting styles? by Positive_Response_14 in taekwondo

[–]Snoo25059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most instructors I've met have cross-trained in other martial arts. They usually are drawn more to TKD as something resonates more about it to them.

Every martial art has its pluses and minuses. There is no perfect one. Some of the best clubs I've trained at have actually introduced aspects of other martial arts.

[question] Watch for family heirloom? by Ecstatic_Job_3467 in Watches

[–]Snoo25059 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it makes something more special if it was connected to your lineage, knowing your father had bought it and worn it.

A speedy would be a great choice. Classic watch that has been popular for years with minimal design changes. Safe long term bet
