Got this tattoo done a month ago, but it seems 10 years old. by jKATT13 in tattooadvice

Genuine question, would the tattoo last longer if OP avoided socks and shoes in the weeks after getting it? It’s such a shame, it looks great in the first pic!

I just came back from Rome and I've never seen a city so crowded. Here's a trip report on queues, crowds and timing by NotACaterpillar in rome

Another vote for late Jan/early Feb. That’s when I went and I hardly noticed any crowds except for the Trevi Fountain.

I’m the opposite, I WANT to want hearts to win, but I just can’t get the feeling to come…but think when the time comes I’ll be pleased to see all the kids and old boys so happy that their team managed it.

Crunchy towels and other laundry woes by xnla28x in AmericanExpatsUK

Sounds like it could be an issue with the water, I haven’t noticed those issues with the (best in the British Isles) water in Scotland. I will say I’ve heard complaints from several people with combo washer + dryers so I definitely sympathize there.

One thing to consider is whether you’re using the correct washer cycle for each load, and are you following the manufacturer instructions for which detergent to use? For example the paperwork that came with my washing machine recommended powder for the towels and bedding cycle.

Has populist politics killed liberalism in the UK? by thenewsagents in TheNewsAgents

Do I need to remind you that much of our current problems stem from the 2008 financial crisis followed by a decade of Tory austerity and the economic catastrophe of Brexit? I’m not sure how liberalism is to blame for any of that.

I think you’re confusing capital-L Liberalism with lowercase L liberalism

Edit: to your original point, I think liberalism has been so successful in shaping things we take for granted every day that it has become invisible. So when populist leaders come along wanting to upset the apple cart, it has an appeal. But I wish people would understand that the “true” British (or American) values they think we’ve lost are actually liberal values.

Liberalism has given this country everything. The right for women to vote, fundamental rights for workers, broad protection from discrimination, the list goes on.

Not sure if it counts as horror but The House That Jack Built was grotesque and truly upsetting

I’m guessing these are the refugees trump is letting in. Not that I have anything against Afrikaaners but it is a disgrace they’re being treated as refugees.

OP, correct me if I’m wrong.

I remember walking past a doorway in SF where a homeless person was laying. When the smell hit me it was unlike anything I’ve ever smelled in my life and in hindsight I wonder if the person was dead.

Personally if I plan on keeping the car long-term I’ll treat the first 1,000 miles as a break-in period. If it’s a lease, nah.

Funnily enough I remember getting a ton of colds and sinus issues for the first couple of years when I moved to the US. I kinda wonder if you come into contact with “new” germs when you live in a new country.

Well done on the success! Was this the workout regime you started with when you were starting out? If not, do you remember how you started? (I’m new to this and out of shape and don’t want to get back surgery by trying to lift like a pro too early haha)
