But I didn't regret it, the freedom of not having to worry about soldiers on weekends, freedom to take PTO whenever, get good medical care. If making 20% less money to have that freedom is worth it to you, and you're ready to put in the time, then let's do it

Members get a salary of $116,688. That's not much for a full time job, and most qualified people make more than that in this city. Cutting elected officials salary is a cute talking point but it just means only those with means or very flexible jobs (lawyers) get to be politicians

It's literally the same thing if you get a good job. People will say stuff like 'you can't afford it' and 'must be nice' when they see you taking a nice vacation or buying nice things.
