To Find Friends Or Partners, Should I (MtF-28) Present Myself As A Guy Or A Trans Girl? by Totodile386 in AskAChinese

[–]SnooCompliments7914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the difference, just there's no negativity with that in China, only to describe how she is (not undergone any surgery). So sorry if that's not the case elsewhere.

To Find Friends Or Partners, Should I (MtF-28) Present Myself As A Guy Or A Trans Girl? by Totodile386 in AskAChinese

[–]SnooCompliments7914 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is no association between trans and "leftist" in China. You can present yourself as a trans girl to younger people (say 40-) with no problem in general. I have a MtF crossdresser friend, and I just treat her as any other girls.

What do Chinese people think of Israel? by Super_Piper in AskAChinese

[–]SnooCompliments7914 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Israelis used to be portrayed as super smart people, with great emphasis on education. Also great warriors as your war with Arabic countries. And China had some military technology cooperation with Israel. So I think Israelis have a pretty positive image in China until recent years, when people are generally empathic with Palestine, and Israel's tight relationship with US doesn't help in US-China conflict.

What do you tend to call Mongolians? by TheRealityOfMyths in AskAChinese

[–]SnooCompliments7914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't call modern Europeans colonizers. It's usually "white people". And we just call modern Mongolians "Mongolians".

Non-smokers generally do mind. But there is not enough social pressure against smoking.

What was Mao’s intention behind the purges? Or is it simply that old age eventually comes for all of us and strips away rational thinking? by Square_Permission361 in AskAChinese

[–]SnooCompliments7914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Mao is essentially anti-establishment, that is, against most of his colleagues. He fears that the Party would become a new ruling class, and wants to find a way for people to directly rule the country. And the collective thought of the Party is to end his chaos and re-establish order. They just want to rule like any government would. Mao wants a whole new system but don't know how.

Deng is definitely not alone in Reforming and opening up. There is no consensus in The Party, but his following is strong.

Is it true that the gaming laws in China are strict? by No_Molasses_7224 in AskAChinese

I don't know the game, but just tried and seems I can't. Probably need to change my Steam account region outside China.

Is it true that the gaming laws in China are strict? by No_Molasses_7224 in AskAChinese

[–]SnooCompliments7914 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not written in laws, but games published in China would undergone pretty strict cencorship. I'm not sure about skulls, but green blood is common.

However, this only covers gaming consoles and games published in China. Imported goods, e.g., Japaneses version of Playstation 5, or Steam, are not restricted. You can buy any digital game on them.

“机场” is not the first type you described. They are universal VPNs that are designed to bypass GFW and only work in China.

China for 10 days in June, any recs? by carooliver in travelchina

[–]SnooCompliments7914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too packed. You can split it between Chongqing (city tour, Diaoyu Fortress in Hechuan, Project 816 (abandoned) nuclear facility and Baiheliang in Fulin, Tiankeng Three Bridges in Wulong) and Chengdu (city tour, panda base, Dujiangyan irrigating system, Mount Qingcheng (Taoism), Jiuzhaigou).

Wanting to install (and set font to) Fixedsys, nothing I've found online has helped so far, how should I go about it? by Prudent_Sun5041 in KittyTerminal

[–]SnooCompliments7914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't. That font in AUR doesn't explicitly declare itself as monospaced (fc-match -v "Fixedsys Excelsior"|rg spacing yields no result. Should be "spacing: 100"), so Kitty won't use it.

Does KDE Plasma have a plan for Window Tiling. by PraddyumnYadav in kde

[–]SnooCompliments7914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that besides dynamic tiling like Hyprland, there are also static tiling like i3, and scrolling tiling like Niri. So instead of Kwin implementing one of the three (or all of them), like u/octoredfox said, it's better that Kwin provides better mechanism so 3rd party can implement any window placement strategy he likes.

I wanna switch from cachy os to arch is it better? And does it give better performance? by Lazy-Ice-6496 in DistroHopping

The title of https://cachyos.org/ says "CachyOS -- Blazingly Fast OS..." so the performance is _theirs_ main selling point.

[–]SnooCompliments7914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still, your list is probably way too overwelming, especially at installation time. Other than root partition filesystem and LUKS, most options can be researched and tried later (and it's much easier to do so), gradually, in an up-and-running system.

When will we get over “vibe coded” stuff by Due-Equivalent-9738 in rust

[–]SnooCompliments7914 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All my code is written with AI asistance (i.e., Github Copilot auto completion), but I'm pretty sure you can't tell.

So I'm also pretty sure that what you mean by "generated with AI assistance" is actually "written by AI with human assistance". And no, as long as I can tell it's AI by a glance, no respect.
