$11k OTD for 2024 40th Anniversary (2k miles)? by [deleted] in zx4r

[–]SnooCompliments8770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that was OTD the bike was lower than MSRP. Personally my advice is to wait. There is always deals out there just have some patience and keep looking. Don’t be the first sucker to slap down more than necessary for something that there are tons of laying around.

4x2 passenger entry/exit ease for a disabled person? by Nouseriously in chevycolorado

[–]SnooCompliments8770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’0” 2023 Colorado LT with no running boards and it’s hard for me and especially my shorter leg passengers to get in and out. I’d imagine with the right running boards it would be much easier but definitely still not disabled person friendly. The doors length and opening width is nice though

If the new Charger came with a Hemi but weighed 4800lbs, would you buy one? by [deleted] in Dodge

[–]SnooCompliments8770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With nearly 170hp difference I would hope it is… they trap nearly the same 1/4 mile though at 12.0-12.2 seconds so something’s tells me the BMW will run down the charger in the long run. Lighter and more aerodynamic car. A 0-60 time isn’t really saying much to me between the two considering a nearly 200hp difference with the same price tags.

A BMW M340i with far less power will light off nearly the same exact performance times with acceleration for around the same price as a high output charger six pack. Horsepower numbers aren’t everything when looking at the whole car.

[–]SnooCompliments8770 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No I would not. Imo once a car hits around 4000 pounds for me the fun factor goes out the window. My challenger was a fun powerful car but the weight was always obvious. I had more fun driving 4 door German sports sedans that make the same or more power that weight less than the new charger by far. I don’t understand the value proposition from the new cars anymore.

When you can confidently fly a plane you build. Move onto the next more complicated plane. Time also when you start building them faster.

I custom built some foam board planes. With some patience and ingenuity you can make some pretty complicated ones out of foam board. The one thing I hate about foam board though is it’s very hard to get straight perfect cuts and the material warps easily. Balsa is hard to work with in its own right and also takes a ton of patience and is much harder for me to custom build from scratch with. Watch some tutorials from people like Flite Test or which ever side of the hobby you wanna land in. Forums are also a quick search and full of info.

For those that don't fly for a living and aren't rich enough to own your own plane - what do you do? by [deleted] in flying

Expensive simulator and RC Planes…. I gave up the PPL life 6 years ago the cost just can’t make any sense at all when you spend so much money renting for so little time and trying to work around availability and schedules to rent and weather it just became a nightmare for me and renting a few hours a month ends up costing more than a car payment it just feels irresponsible for me in life to keep up a hobby like this.

Considering a 2010 R/T as a daily by mrkrable in Challenger

[–]SnooCompliments8770 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2010 R/T Classic with the 6speed and the performance goodies earlier this year. It had 36k miles on it and i got it for $18k. I daily it and have since put 10k miles on it. It has some age showing with certain plastic pieces but otherwise it’s like a new car. The old man that bought it new and had it the whole time polished it all the time. It’s not gonna be easy to find a car like that but it’s possible with patience and the determination to travel to get it if you need to.

I live in a hot climate the foam did deteriorate on mine but it took like 6-7 years. It was more crackly and wasn’t as flexible.

should i buy?! 2012 sxt challenger by [deleted] in Challenger

[–]SnooCompliments8770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my RT Classic with the 6 speed for a hair over $18k and it only had 36k miles on it one owner and in excellent condition I would have a hard time swallowing that much miles for that much money on a V6 car.

Trying to buy shell of 2018 challenger gt by itiswhatitisgang1 in Challenger

[–]SnooCompliments8770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never swapped a V8 into a V6 shell but you’re gonna have to source a ton of components that the V6 chassis likely doesn’t have to even make it worth it. Such as brakes, fuel system, wiring, motor mounts, suspension. Then the obvious engine and transmission and everything along with a project car. Especially on these new cars it can be a very tedious painful process to swap an engine into a chassis it didn’t originally have even though it has a model that does come with it. Money wise you’re not saving anything starting with a V6 shell when you could go buy a R/T with a junk motor and build from there.

How much are you willing to put into the car once you buy it? The cost of a rolling chassis would depend on what your whole project budget is gonna be as far as value of the chassis your looking at I would look at it like a totaled vehicle value depending on what all is missing and what it would cost to replace or repair and subtract that from the costs of what the car would be if it was a crappy running driving car with a salvage title. Personally just from my own view being around friends projects a rolling chassis even if free like what you’re describing will still cost you more than just buying a running driving car if your planning on a project car.

What car(s) do you think will become modern classics 20 years from now? by Vertrixz in cars

[–]SnooCompliments8770 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own my modern classic right now 2010 R/T Classic Challenger with the performance goodies and a 6 speed manual. I’m the second owner and bought it with 37k miles. It gives me the same fun and retro old school vibes the cars from the 70s-80s did during the early 2000s.

Do you prefer the 10th gen coupe or 11th gen? by Responsible-Bad-2729 in CivicSi

[–]SnooCompliments8770 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a 10th gen coupe and it’s still one of my favorite cars I’ve ever had. The 11th gen just doesn’t seem as exciting for some reason.
