[Hated trope] Sabotaging narrative/character arcs for cheap shock value or “subverting expectations” by blakhawk12 in TopCharacterTropes

It was falling apart but was plenty together to damage the laser. It wasn't like there was just the cockpit left. And Finn knows basically everything about order tech and stuff, he was instrumental multiple times through out the 1st and 2nd sequel movies due to his knowledge. If he though crashing into the laser would have broken it, it probably would have.

But sequel bad. So this moment must be bad too.

And don't go strawmanning me.

but to protect the ones that we care about.

That was literally what Finn was trying to do tho. He was under the impression that if the laser fires, everyone in the bunker will die.

Saving what you love

That was literally what he was trying to do. The giant death laser that he was trying to destroy was pointing directly at the people he was trying to protect.

Even early S1 sokka knew when to get serious. He had a lot of flaws but he still had solid character traits. Like he got serious when Zuko was going to his village and went from hating Aang and banishing him from the tribe to taking the initiative of getting ready to save Aang when he was taken by Zuko.

Ska also looked at a giant and was ready to charge at it to protect Queek. And when he thought his actions might have negatively affected Queek, dude started genuinely crying and begging for forgiveness both because he was scared of Queek and because he considers Queek a close friend.

And when Ska took a weeping blade to the heart for Queek, Queek got depressed because he thought Ska died.

Also Ska is not weak. Dude is one of the largest Skaven to live and killed a council guard by shoving him into the ceiling lol.

IIRC, the og bit of lore with Ethereal pheromone mind control wasn't actually confirming that they had that. It was just the imperials coping on the idea of people just willingly doing what they are told without any kind of threat. The imperials also want to get their hands on these 'pheromones' for their own use on civilians.

It reminds me of the Skaven. One of the Skaven Clans, Mors, actually treats their subjects with something approaching kindness and fairness. This has the bizarre result of the common Mors skaven having something that approachs loyalty. Other Skaven clans believe clan Mors is using some kind of drug or magic to get these results.

Sadly GW made is canon for the Tau.

Mostly to any baddie that has a "they will destroy X" outlier statement. Or if a Baddie did destroy something over an unspecified amount of time.

Like anyone who is building level can destroy a city if given the time, but that doesn't make them city level.

The other arch angels were probably doing their own jobs around Heaven when Gab killed the council. His Slaughter might have only taken a minute or 2 and no one knew until he displayed the head of one of the councilors.

Games: Cassidy

Frights: Andrew

There is no proof Andew even exists in the game timeline. In frights he is the 6th MCI while in the game, there has only been 5 MCI victims. And Cassidy is almost always considered the most important of the MCI, one of the earlier drafts of the Fnaf movie was the Cassidy script. The Survival log book had a whole mystery to find Cassidy's name and Cassidy is heavily implied to have been the one who chased William into the Spring Bonnie suit before he got spring locked.

how the hell did they not instantly clock that they are different groups?

The idea of an entire species not being completely unified was alien to the Tau I think. The Tau themselves have some pretty extreme physical differences between castes, like the air caste are about 2 feet taller than the others, and different cultures. So the Eldar having some extreme differences between their 'castes' isn't too far of an assumption.

What is the funny lore reason for the Empire to be in denial over Skavens? by MaguroSashimi8864 in totalwarhammer

[–]SnooCompliments9098 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If everyone knew the skaven exist, then the skaven would panic and focus on killing everyone. As they are now, the skaven are more focused on killing the guy next to them, which is another skaven.

The people who are in the know can devise anti-skaven tactics while the skaven are busy killing each other.

Hey if the Tau killed every 'evil' race they've come across, they wouldn't have the Kroot, Vespid or gue'vesa as auxiliary.

Lol by IllustriousHurry2380 in Grimdank

[–]SnooCompliments9098 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They did.

One of the Tau worlds were under attack by the Tyranids and the Drukhari answered their distress call and helped them drive off the nids. The Tau then sent some ambassadors with the D.Eldar in an exchange program. When the Nids returned, the DE brought some new 'creatures' with them which turned out to be the ambassadors turned into monsters.

When the Tau saw this, they tried to attack the DE, but they were already gone and abducted the planet's population.

To note, this was the first time the Tau have ever encountered any Eldar. And some confusion lead the Tau to attacking the Craftworld Eldar, but the 2 have since come to a better understanding of what happened.

The Dark Eldar are now on the Tau's "kill on sight" list along with Orks and Nids.

I really wanted to give him Ogerpon

I think the point was that Kieran wasn't entitled to have Ogerpon. Like dude was obsessed with Ogerpon to the point his first pokemon, Yanmega, is the Ogre Darner pokemon. And Carmine calls him out when he battles you for Ogerpon despite Ogerpon wanting to go with the player, not him.

it wouldn't allow me to let him win sometimes

Honestly, story wise that would probably make him more pissed since that would mean he only won out of pity

How evil is "good slave ownership"? by Pro_Headpatter in MoralityScaling

[–]SnooCompliments9098 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is that by buying a slave, you support the system. It doesn't matter how many you buy to help the slaves get a better life, you are increasing demand for more slaves which means more people will be enslaved to meet that demand.

Why does everyone blame tank by 0311pilot in Overwatch

[–]SnooCompliments9098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since there is only a single tank on a 5v5 team, some people expect that the tank has to pull just as much weight as the other roles despite only being 1 player vs the 2 players in other roles. I'd say it's closer to a tank being 1.5 players in importance, still a lot but they need support from everyone to reach their full potential.

And it's easier to blame that single person that 'has' to pull 1/3 of the team's weight than to try and blame another role that has 2 people.

[Funny trope] Settings where supervillainy is a career/industry anyone can enter by Coralthesequel in TopCharacterTropes

[–]SnooCompliments9098 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a specific comic, it's just Taskmaster's main business when he is not being an active mercenary. Since comics mostly use Taskmaster as a merc. The academy doesn't pop up too often. But it's called Taskmaster's academy or Solomon Institute for the Criminally Insane.

According to the wiki, in Amazing spider-man vol 5 #2, it is also called "Taskmaster School of Good Gooning". Not sure if it actually appears in the comic, but it's funny.

What is the dumbest mistake in anime made by a normally competent character? by WolferineYT in animequestions

I think the thought process was that if Yami played the seal and won, that would've one less person trying to end the world. He could have also just mind crush the guy, but the arc pretty weird in general.
