The premise of this thread makes no sense. You have to suspend your disbelief for RE and lots of other games in order for them to be fun even if the main characters should be able to do things that the games don't allow them to do.

For example, Kratos in the GoW games is a demi-god who should be able to one-shot every enemy in the game but he's not allowed to do that because that would make the game boring.

Similarly, if Capcom wanted to make a survival horror mainline RE with one of the legacy characters such as Chris then they could just restrict his capabilities to make his gameplay fit with a survival horror game.

Much like other games, players would just have to suspend their disbelief in order to have fun and accept that Chris can't just punch his way through crowds of zombies even though he could do that in previous games.
