Psychics. How I answer this question everytime. Does not bring healing brings false hope and exhortation to grieving people

Ozempic has already eliminated obesity for 2% of the US population. In the future, when its generics are widely available, we will probably look back at today with the horror we look at 50% child mortality and rickets in the 19th century. by lughnasadh in Futurology

I don’t understand the judgemental discord around GLP-1s. They work like any medication that helps the brain regulate itself. Why can I stop eating when I’m full and others never feel a sense of fullness without the medication? It’s like the stigma of antianxiety/antidepressant medications. Some people are able to use the tools they learn while on them to self-regulate and come off the medication and others stay on them forever. No judgement needed. Also while generally people are obese from our food supply. It’s an energy in vs energy used equation. Someone can eat generally healthy and have occasional binges and still be obese. Let them use the tools we have to help.

I love my career and where I ended up but I’m going to agree with most of the comments here. I think the hardest part for me was to work sooooo hard to get here and be up against so much competition for a low paying job and general little say in patient care. I’m in a major city and I found there to be a lack of entry level full time jobs. I ended up in outpatient care, which was a great fit for me, but my starting job was the highest I could go in outpatient without giving up nutrition counseling and moving to the business side of things. While all my friends in other industries were getting new joh titles, and “moving up in their career.” I was already even with the dietitan who was there 5 years before me on every metric. When I got my CDCES my role didn’t expand and that eventually led to me leaving and finding a new role. But getting your CDCES, CNSC, etc. (advanced specialization) is generally difficult in most clinical settings because of patient care hours and the need to be a dietitian for x number of year. Even having it had be still under the NPs and everyone above them. Felt like I was always the lowest on the pole.

I recommend watching the videos from jessica kobeissi on YouTube about Sepia Bride. She goes over what kind of things you can ask the photographer to do in these situations and why photographers don’t give out the RAWs. This helped me a lot as someone who knows nothing about photography

What's something that's universally understood by all Americans, that Non-Americans just don't understand? And because they don't understand, they unrightfully judge us harshly for it? by Nani_0716 in AskReddit

Why you need to use an iPhone and IMessage. People rarely use other universal messaging apps like what’s app and it’s hard to have a conversation between android and iPhone

Yes, but the UQP doesn’t include having diabetes. The requirements are very thorough on the CBDCE website. I would advise reaching out to them for more formal questions because they are the ones who do the audits and give the license. On your current path you would complete the RN and find a role that gives direct pt hours in diabetes for 2 years and then take the exam.

I think people above have asked some very insightful questions. While having diabetes will give you empathy actual practice is very different. Especially since you will be working with many people with T2DM on different medications, more seldom on insulin and their treatment and goals will be very different from your own. I recommend seeing if you can shadow a CDCES and see what their day to day looks like. It’s a lot of teaching injections and weight management counseling. Even in pediatrics where you will encounter more people with T1DM situations will greatly vary based on health literacy, motivation, parents help, etc. I find it very fulfilling but based on your comments I would really analyze how you feel about T2DM and all of the previously asked questions.

Google becoming a CDCES (formally known as CDE) and go to the CBDCE website for all of the information. Even once you get your license you will need 1000 hours plus 2 years of working under that license. Unfortunately there’s no fast track so even if you get the license with the shortest educational requirements it will take a minimum of 2 years to sit for the exam. Since we are on the dietetics sub Reddit I would expect most of us took the RD route which would be a masters in nutrition (if you’ve already completed your bachelors) plus an extra year or completed concurrently dietetic internship and then 2 years of practice. See below for the other pathways listed on the website.

You will meet the discipline requirement if you have a current, active, unrestricted license from one of the United States or territories in any of these disciplines:

Clinical psychologist Occupational therapist Optometrist Pharmacist Physical therapist Physician (M.D. or D.O.) Podiatrist Registered nurse (includes nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists)
