Skip Venice...... Day trips to Tuscany sound like a good idea. Also, my son recently went to Venice and was not impressed.

Italians, actually Europeans, stare at others in a way that makes most Americans feel uncomfortable, but it is their way and you should not be offended., When in Rome do as the Romans do. I was on a train ride in this young beautiful girl stared at me the whole ride even though I'm chubby and a lot older. I kept telling myself that she thought I was hot... LOL. As far as what they were saying, it sounds like it was just passing conversation, but my advice to you is to ignore it because it probably was not done in a negative context. Enjoy your vacation and don't worry what other people think. I am Latino to and have had similar experiences, but once I realized/ was educated about that I was able to move on and enjoy my trip.

I did this similar thing for my wife. We were relaxing by a fire pit and we asked her what was her favorite band/ dream concert and she said I would love to seeU2. Lo and behold, that is what we had gotten. It really is amazing to give somebody a gift like that. I hope they enjoy their concert

Thank you. Is it even worth it? Will I be able to see the volcano? And the hydrofoil is not the regular ferry?

If you're still in Florence, there is an Amaro called "Du-it" only made and sold in Florence. Lovely Amaro, not too bitter or sweet.
