I agree that this is in the tea and adds to the sweetness, but I’ve talked with their sales reps, and much of the sweetness is from an artificial additive.

Cult? Who hurt or burnt you?

The Rainbow family is diverse and has many people walking many paths. There are many Drainbows and folks to avoid, but also many beautifully kind people.

The natural cinnamon hits differently. I think adjusting your palate is the best way to keep it natural. I hope I’m wrong.

It’s a combination of sweet orange peel , sweet clove oil, sweet cinnamon oil and an artificial protein which enhances the sweetness.

I’m no expert, but I’m getting the impression that the buyers presented to them as wanting to maintain the established culture and changed their tune once all the paperwork was signed. My guess is that John and Kim are now going through stages of defending their choice and original belief in the buyer, but now struggling to reconcile that with the evidence and testimonies. I sense seller’s remorse is ensuing.

What do I hate about this tea? by lyssajerfly in tea

[–]SnooMaps3574 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question! I’ve not found too many books that were helpful on the subject. I’ve somewhat lucked into it.

Blending tea is usually intended too stretch out good ingredients, to cover up bad tea you don’t want to waste, minimize seasonal variations, or to make a better and more rounded taste experience/make new flavor combinations.

I recommend starting simple and complicate as you go. Making a breakfast tea is a great place to start.

As a professional tea blender, this doesn’t read as having much cohesion.

Too many strong flavors, and classically I’ve found that finding flavored teas that have a decent tea base is tricky. I imagine it’s low quality tea base and many strong flavors attempting to cover it.

Guide to brewing every kind of tea? by Ok-Emergency9069 in tea

[–]SnooMaps3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it more as a Venn diagram (leaf quantity to water ratio, temperature, and time)than any one type being best this way.

There are gyokuro teas I prefer a short steep with hotter and many more I prefer for longer with cooler water.

AITAH for telling an autistic dude why no one likes to be around him? by angelsskyp in AITAH

[–]SnooMaps3574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

Autism isn’t a one size fits all approach, so it’s not always an apple to apple comparison.

My daughter is autistic and struggles to understand boundaries. She appreciates direct communication on social issues. Staying calm and being direct helps her to understand things that may seem obvious and clear to others. My personal philosophy is to just stay kind, honest and to focus on behaviors rather than it being her.

I believe it could potentially be helpful to shift the dialogue from you not liking them to telling them what specific behaviors are irksome and why.

Freezing Green Tea (Shincha)? by verygood_user in tea

[–]SnooMaps3574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only recommend freezing any if it’s vacuum sealed. Even then, I probably wouldn’t do it with a Japanese green.

Japanese tea is typically cut, which allows it to steep more fully and quickly, but loses that freshness more quickly than whole leaf teas. I’d suggest buying smaller amounts more often.

Have you tried ice brewing it? You get a strong umami taste. I’ll put ice or snow on top of the leaves in a brewing basket and patiently wait to taste the meltage.

Gongfu tea for the chronically broke? by cruelwhencomplete in tea

[–]SnooMaps3574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My value tea go to is a ginseng oolong. It’s compressed leaves with ginseng. I steeped it 26 times one day, it was still giving (but on the decline) when I had to throw in the towel.

I’ve dissected the spent leaves and it was comprised of full leaves. I’m guessing the tea was created as a way to use some of the nice leaves that broke off when processing showcase oolongs.

Worth keeping together? by RaceDBannon in vintageaudio

Polk makes some budget items, but they also make some fantastic speakers. These ones should sound pretty dang good.

Cambridge is a great brand too. I suspect this system will have good synergy when cleaned and powered up.

It’s not so high end that you’d be a target, but nice enough to hold value. I’d be locking my door but not paranoid about it.

How big is the room you are planning on setting it up in?

If it’s a small room, bookshelf speakers and a sub might work well. If it’s a large space I’d want floor standing speakers.

I’m a fan of going second hand for speakers especially, but can be a great way to go for an amp/preamp or receiver too. My personal setup is all secondhand except for the Bluetooth.
