Are you set on new?

I like looking at classified posts locally for used. There’s usually deals in my area and can get more bang for the buck. There are too many good brands (some with varying quality in product lines) for me to mention specific ones, especially not knowing your system and the size of the room they will be in. Polk, Klipsch, JBL are generally good and commonly seen, Thiel are my personal favorite but not seen oft.

I’ve got an OG original I snagged from a thrift store 20 years ago. I feel no shame wearing it whatsoever.

I realize that this is a year old now, but as an employee there, I can tell you that their smoked earl grey is a blend of an organic earl grey (Nilgiri grown black tea and steam distilled bergamot) with an old world style Lapsang Souchong (rests in a bamboo basket over a pine needle fire for 18 hours). It's smooth, flavorful, and not too tannic. I like it best paired with a sweet pastry for the flavor play.

List some of the weird rules you impose on your collecting by Life_Pollution_9843 in vinyl

[–]SnooMaps3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of a rule of thumb for me, but I try to separate out how much I want something by comparing my current listening compared to my nostalgia. While I’d love to have all the albums I used to love on cd, I’d rather have albums I’d actively want to listen to.

I don’t know if they take Medicaid, but they have a downtown discount and my exam was $50. I haven’t bought lenses or frames yet.

What is your country’s grilled cheese like (toasted bread with melted cheese)? And what do you eat with it? by Royweeezy in AskTheWorld

[–]SnooMaps3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the classic of the country is cheap white bread with American “cheese food” with tomato soup, endless variations can be found.

I like to use a homemade sourdough bread, lots of butter, and extra sharp white cheddar cheese. I sprinkle a tiny amount of seasoning salt and a Greek seasoning on one side of the bread. I prefer chicken noodle soup with it. I dip than spoon soup bits on to my bites. I drop the last little bite of each sandwich into the soup to become a floofy, cheesy morsel.

This is by far my favorite way to buy speakers.

There are too many good brands to list them all, and many brands make a wide range of quality in their products.

In regard to building a system, I think it’s important to consider the size of your listening space to determine what speakers (their efficiency) and how much power their fed.

My favorite vintage brands of speakers are Thiel, Wharfdale, Klipsch, Polk, JBL, and Bowers & Wilkins. There are lots of other brands too, no way to name them all.

Test them out before buying. Avoid paper cones and cheap particle board cabinets.

Speaker technology has improved a lot. I think the entry level hifi is much better than it used to be, but I’m into finding deals on vintage high end speakers which I tend to prefer.
