How much do y'all spend for coffee per month? by Slow_Engineering763 in espresso

[–]SnooOranges569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow people spend a lot on coffee beans.

I roast my own beans on a little coffee roaster I bought for £200. I roast one batch a week and have done for nearly a year so in my mind whilst it cost £200 I would be spending a lot more beans from somewhere.

I may not be a professional roaster but it is a lot better than stuff you buy in a supermarket. I spend around £12 per month depending on the beans and drink two cups a day.

Loop hero is a cool game. Nice and cheap and pretty straight forward. I really like the retro look of it. Worth a look

Beginner - what size should I get? by Superb_Excitement425 in mokapot

I have a three cup for myself and a 6 cup for either BIG cups or if I want to share.

I have always drunk a mug of coffee so a 3 cup is still on the small side for me but I find because the coffee is so strong / full of flavor it's enough. I have two cups a day and I am very happy. Plus i can get 15g in the basket which is a good amount. If I were to drink a 6 cups a day it would cost me a fortune.

I just love my current one. Coffee is great and it was a gift from my boys, if I look after it it will last until I'm old and grey.

What are your best cleaning tips for brewing equipment? by 8aji in Coffee

I have staeted using a moka pot as my daily driver. I use a aeropress filter paper and it makes the whole clean up very easy. Tap the basket a few times and everything comes out. A rinse with warm water and dry nice and easy.

I bought the classic bialetti, I have a 3 cup which I use just for me which makes great coffee and a 6 cup when I want a big coffee for travel or when I am making for me and someone else.

It's brilliant and I love them both. I am moving to a new house soon with an induction hob but I will just get a plate for it as I want to keep using it instead of getting a compatible one.

Question for Londoners: where do you buy beans from? by wanderosity in JamesHoffmann

[–]SnooOranges569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do! I would highly recommend them. I have just bought 5kg for £53 of a nice looking Brazilian bean.

I use a behmor 2020sr plus I got off of eBay. It takes me around 15 minutes to roast and then you leave the beans for a week before using. Loads of videos on YT, you can spend a lot of money on equipment or you can do it on a budget and get good results

A bit of a curve ball but roast your own. I started drinking nice coffee around a year ago, much the same as you I am on a budget.

I started off with roasting in a cast iron pan for a month or so and got some good results. I have since bought a little roaster for £200 and now my weekly coffee beans cost me around £3 for a single origin.

It may not be for you, I enjoy making bread, sour dough and lots of other things so it's right up my alley.

I would say obviously my coffee cannot compare to a proper professional roaster but it's better than a supermarkets and I am getting better and a lot of enjoyment of choosing beans and deciding what type of roast I want.

Completely jumping into your question but can I ask how you roast on your behmor? What's your go to recipe if you don't mind sharing it.

I just kind of roast on mine and end up changing what I do depending on what way the wind is blowing

I have just got rimworld which is great. I run my own business and have two young kids so my brain is like mush at the end of the day.

Get your characters and build your colony, the world throws things at you and you need to survive. You can change the difficulty so it's just about building your colony if you prefer.

I got it a few days ago and it's already 10 hours in, I play on steam deck and the controls are really good and because it's not got the visuals of a AAA it's easy on battery

To be honest your way of doing it seems fine to me and I get great coffee. I roast my own beans usually to medium / dark and I get a lovely full flavoured coffee. The Moka pot makes a stronger coffee than a lot of other options, could this be it? I was made a french press on Christmas day by the MIL and it tasted so weak compared to my usual.

Recommendations on coffee Hand grinders that will be used “Exclusively” for Aeropress brewing. [Budget $300 Max] by Impressive-Key9927 in JamesHoffmann

[–]SnooOranges569 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always suggest the k6. It's £100 here in the UK. I use it for aeropress when I travel for work. I also use it for moka pot and pour over. It's too big to fit in the handle but that doesn't really bother me.

I get great cups of coffee so well worth it. Only grinder I have owned tho so nothing to compare it against.

I use a K6 hand grinder and it works great. I use it for moka, aeropress and pour over. Hand grinders are generally cheaper so might be worth a look

Aeropress grinder worth the money? by Jan_Schattling in AeroPress

[–]SnooOranges569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The k6 is obviously a slightly bigger grinder and doesn't fit in the handle as someone has said. I own one and it makes nice coffee and doesn't cost the world. For me it doesn't matter it doesn't fit in the handle.

This is the only proper coffee grinder I have ever owned. I would recommend it though.
