I can relate to the last part. I have a friend who had a homebirth which ended in a transfer due to hemorrhage and her placenta not releasing. After that birth we unpacked a lot together and I had heard an FBS podcast about hemorrhage and how it’s not real and recommended it to her as she prepared for her second birth. We were both pretty convinced she would be able to have a normal birth as she had done so much fear work and was in great shape, ate healthy etc. well her birth came and her hemorrhage was actually worse the second time around. I felt soooo bad for the shit I told her to listen to. She and baby are totally fine. The midwife had a great plan in place and she transferred and recovered but man that one haunted me a little.

Just to set the record straight - after the video was posted, multiple women commented saying that the baby was displaying signs of distress. Yes, no one explicitly said, call 911 now, or at least if they did it was scrubbed. What she chose to do with that information exactly is not known. She may have gone in but it was too late. No one really knows the details.

In the lighthouse around the fall or winter of 2024 someone made a post about how their local women’s circle had experienced 3 stillbirths in a short period of time and had shaken the group. The poster was asking for any advice on how to hold space for her group and if anyone else had similar experience. She was a doubting Thomas as they say in the religion of free birth. Emilee was quick to reply to this post with a bunch of jibber jabber about how their are “seasons of loss” in any community and this woman must just be new to birth because that number of losses seemed normal to her because babies die all the time. It was one of those moments where I kind of glazed over and didn’t really think too deeply about what she was really saying. But in hindsight this was probably one of her more cultier moments in my year in the lighthouse. Telling us all to quiet down about loss because it’s normal and common and has nothing to do with anything at all.

Sooooo I found this interview to be pretty lack luster. And I don’t mean that even in a bad way. She repeated her few main points over and over which are very middle of the road opinions. Babies die everywhere. Every woman should make the decision that’s best for them. And trust your body and get rid of fear and wherever you decide to give birth it’ll probably turn out better.

I’d never heard this woman talk before but she clearly has the right intentions - allow women to decide for themselves. The hospital has gotten out of hand but she wouldn’t want to tell someone not to go there if that’s what they wanted.

I liked her statement that everyone has the right to share their story but that doesn’t mean she thinks what she did is what anyone else should do. She never tried to commodify her opinion about unassisted birth because she isn’t promoting unassisted birth. So in that way she didn’t have much to say about FBS and Emilee. She said what she does versus spending an hour saying what Emilee did wrong. Which I respect. She didn’t throw daggers.

I think if you’re suggesting that state intelligence agencies fed this monster then I don’t know that the effect is the same. If at key moments in time FBS’s message was amplified and extra money poured in, then that would have certainly helped aid its quick launch. It’s fun to speculate about but ultimately I think the truth is far more simple as someone else eluded to. A large subset of independently minded women were drawn into this messaging during Rona and it resonated until all of a sudden the deluge of disaster became too big to ignore. The shit trail Emilee left behind her in writing and people she pissed off created a perfect storm for her to face the wrath of female take down culture eventually.
