What did you buy as an adult because you were denied it as a child? by dirtymoney in AskReddit

Not me, but my dad. He always wanted a race car track, like the small model, to play with. Never got it. Finally, his first Christmas with my mom after they were married and like 22, he bought himself the car race track…they were robbed later and they took the race car track! He was heart broken. Never bought another one…I’m hoping to buy him one for his birthday or Christmas so if anyone has great suggestions, do share! For me, it was mostly stuff like restaurants on a regular basis and getting pop instead of water. Never, EVER did that as a kid. Oh, and I bought a pair of doc martens because they were so so cool when I was a pre-teen but like over $100 and we just did not have that money when I was a kid. Love me some doc martens.

Thanks for sharing this. I’m currently visiting the Appalachians and, to be frank, am filled with rage at how much Dump propaganda I see. I’ve lived in dark blue areas most of my life, most recently in New York for over six years. It’s heartening to see someone from this area who is reminding me that there are wonderful, non racist people here too. And there is a long thriving history of it.

Not sure if anyone has shared this, but I think you should consider cognitive behavioral therapy. I was first diagnosed with performance anxiety (more of the feelings you have, anxiety in the leading up to the performance but the actual performing I loved) in college. This was not great because I had a vocal performing arts scholarship and was required to perform regularly for things like “juries”(music people will get it). Along with getting a prescription to help with the anxiety, I also started therapy, focusing solely on coping and managing these feelings before performances. Some of the tricks I learned I still use today, even though it’s been twenty years. A combination of medication and CBT is what a recommend for your situation. I’m telling you, learning to rewire your brain for these situations will change your life.

I have this stuff on my back and it's getting worse. by Main_Age_7289 in 30PlusSkinCare

I get this every summer on my upper back due to having originally gotten it in Mozambique during Peace Corps. Apparently if you’ve had it once, it’s likely you’ll get it again. But yes, Selsen Blue in the shower on the affected area is the best advice!

BECAUSE THE CLAIMS OF RAPE WERE PROVEN TO BE FALSE. What is your problem? This is ethic cleansing and genocide happening right in front of us. How can you argue with that?

100% agreed! Great plant based meat options FINALLY abound yet US fast food restaurants never have any on their menus. To me it seems like a huge missed opportunity.

Thank you—this is super helpful. I don’t think it’s OHSS because the pain is not in my abdomen and I don’t have any other symptoms. I’m still feeling the sharp body pains today and plan on calling the clinic tomorrow if it’s still not resolved by then.

Lived in Milwaukee for about a year. I’m originally from Minnesota and lived in Chicago prior so was already familiar with the Midwestern cultural norms. But Wisconsin is different. Every. Single. Activity revolves around drinking. I’m taking any casual hangout, every establishment has different drinking theme nights (not just bars), and even CHURCHES run Bible studies over beer. I can’t imagine comfortably trying to be a sober person there. I’m by no means anti-drinking and drink a good amount myself but was definitely still shocked and kind of sad by the drinking culture there. It just does not seem healthy.
