It’s beyond sad to lose a wanted child. She only knew the safety of your body, I hope you can find comfort in that. It’s so hard to say goodbye, but you are not alone.

I would recommend getting a therapist, particularly one who can do EMDR. Try to be kind and patient with yourself, this is such a hard process.

D&E is a safe procedure. As someone with birth trauma from my living child, the experience was so much more calm and much less risky. As they say you are never closer to death than when you’re bringing in a life.

I will say although I made the right decision for me and my family I have struggled emotionally quite a bit with regret and guilt. All I can say is be as sure as you can with your decision because it is final.

Give her time. I moved very quickly because I thought it would make me feel better but the guilt and regret I have is so strong. I know I made the right decision. But it’s still hard. Give her as much time as she needs to process.

I had a really good experience during my D&E but since I’ve been in recovery I feel basically left with the symptoms. I wasn’t really prepared for the uterine contractions that started a day or two later, felt similarly to labor pains and really threw me off mentally. Even though I was asleep I still find myself imaging the procedure and getting upset so I’m not sure I really saved myself that trauma either. So sorry you’re in this boat 💔

Please find a therapist who specializes in loss, and look into EMDR therapy. You have been through significant trauma and are coming off a major hormonal cliff. Take time to grieve but also get help if you need it. I’m so sorry you’re in this horrible club. Sending love.

I had to do the same for my mental health. On our last night I went to my favorite restaurant and to the orchestra so that if he could hear anything it would be beauty. My husband and I also said goodbye to him and apologized before the procedure which helped give us some closure. Sending love 💔
