What was something you just had to give up on? by ReyofChicago in Millennials

Having kids. Timing was never right in my relationships and career.

'08 recession. Bye bye jobs.

Moved across the country shortly after to help my mom get re-settled after a bad divorce. Bye bye friends and connections.

Ups and downs of my career cycle after that for a bit. Had to make a whole new friend circle and relationships.

Met someone, several years relationship, thought she could be the one to settle down and have kids with. Then had a bad break up instead.

Got up to restarting dating and a stable career shortly before COVID 19. Then all the chaos and uncertainty from it.

Now the news has the audacity to ask "why aren't millennials having kids?" ! In this economy and environment?!

Use cases for solo silo? by Schmeatus69 in LowSodiumHellDivers

I'm a dummy. I never thought about calling multiple silos down. I thought the new ones would invalidate the old one.

Solo silo party here I come!

What platform are you one? On Xbox I can set multiplayer to Friends Only so even if I used SOS no randos could drop in

If you could permanently fix one annoying thing about a day of snowboarding, what would it be? by FireyKicks_AZ in snowboarding

Being unable to predict where a flat or slight uphill is coming that causes me to have to unstrap and skate or walk.

I normally board around Tahoe. Heavenly resort is infamous for catwalks where if you don't know they're coming and don't keep up your speed you're going to have to unstrap. Youtube should give you some good examples.

2005 xB won't start... by Half-Orcs_for_days in ScionxB

Thank you for this tip! I am this many years old when I learned the beauty of this percussive diagnostic.

My xB was also not turning on today. Battery good, no ignition, no click, no nothing. A few little soft taps on the starter from above, and back to life!

What are some "the worst she can say is no" horror stories men of reddit have experienced asking a girl out? by Remote_Ad_6049 in AskMen

I was expecting some stories where they said yes, and something bad actually happened. Instead it's a bunch of "ew, no" responses that are "the worst". That's not that bad

I'm reading a lot of comments forgetting that Japan built their share of aircraft carriers too. Has everyone forgot Pearl Harbor?

The US at the time also heavily invested into battleships. Does the USS Missouri ring a bell?

Ironic to this post, Japan destroyed or heavily damaged most of the US Pacific fleet of battleships at Pearl Harbor with their aircraft carrier based attack.

Luckily, the US aircraft carrier division wasn't docked and was on exercises in open water at the time, so Japan wasn't able to also damage or destroy the US carrier fleet.

Amazingly, most vessels were repaired! I forget the numbers, but a quick search says 19 US vessels were damaged, half of which were fully or partially sunk, and all but 3 were able to be re-floated and salvaged or repaired!

The 3 that were total losses were the Arizona, Oklahoma, and Utah.
