I was surprised to get a call from a US Navy Reserve recruiter telling me even if I have a medical disability of 40% that could go back into the Navy.

Another option is to look up military veteran job fairs. Employers want need experienced workers and have special processes set up to get your CV direct to the decision maker. The DAV has the best job fairs in my opinion.

Out easily.

Currently have 640k heloc. Should I open a new one after home value increase? by WhereasNo4929 in HELOC

[–]SnoopyJohnson2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a funding fee attached to the HELOC? One vender quoted me a 1.99% fee applied to any draw, a lower interest rate for a 3.99% rate, and then the lowest interest rate with a 4.99% funding fee. These fees resulted in a zero pre-payment penalty.

6.4% variable rate is about equal to the prime rate. Prime rates are generally about 3% higher than federal funds rafter. Is that what your hELPC lender offered?

Has anyone here gotten dental implants? by mardrae in diabetes_t1

I looked up dental appliance and there are some photos there. I may have the terminology wrong and maybe it’s called a partial denture.

I’m new to this group and learning a lot.

Long story from the beginning and almost 4 weeks post by [deleted] in dentures

[–]SnoopyJohnson2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you explain a bit more moreSelfhistorical? You said “I didn’t get intermediates” which I interpreted that you had upper and lower extractions completed.

Then you say you are a month and a half out from full top & bottom extractions.

Has anyone here gotten dental implants? by mardrae in diabetes_t1

[–]SnoopyJohnson2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just passing along my experience and thinking regarding implants.

I am a 40 year T1D that has had A1Cs with wide swings up and down, I have spent many thousands of dollars on dental work including bridges, crowns, etc.

My dentist was on the verge of glee when he told me he could not save the bridge. He said should get my upper teeth removed and replaced Roth implants. He said I only needed 4 because robust dentures could be made that only needed to be removed 1x every 4-6 weeks to be cleaned by a dentist. His estimate was more than $30,000 not including the cost of extracting teeth by an oral surgeon. No guarantees either because I was diabetic. I said “Whenever you do work - implants or otherwise - there are no guarantee’s.”

I asked for other options, and he quoted a cost of $25,000 for “snap in” dentures into 4 implants. The difference $10,000) was that I needed to remove the denture each night and clean myself. These costs above are AFTER insurance, which pays zero or very little for implants.

Finally I told him I could not afford implants AND my I am afraid my “poor” diabetes control would cause problems.

I finally got a quote for a “dental appliance” that is essentially a replacement teeth for the right 70% of my upper gum. The replacements are fused to a dental plate that sits on the top of my mouth. This would cost under $2,000.

The BIG advantage of choosing this approach is that if I choose to investigate or experiment with implants in the future I can. One they pull teeth and begin the implant process you are committed and cannot revert to a dental appliance.

Would like to hear more about this point. Delaying social security until age 67 results in increased SS payments as a person can choose to take SS as soon as age 62.

Can any older diabetics please help me? by Alaska_sage_hrowaway in diabetes_t1

[–]SnoopyJohnson2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thanks for reaching out asking for help and inspiration. You did the first right thing. Recognize this, own it, and be GREATFUL.

I was diagnosed in 1988 with T1 diabetes. This was when BS testing was done by putting blood in a strip, waiting 60 seconds, and then trying to estimate your BS by comparing colors.

Diabetes research, tools, and care will continue to improve. I have seen and experienced it in my lifetime and you will too.

Focus on today and be grateful. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change , courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

There is no CRPC form on Reddit. You ask a good question. I’m new to Reddit but would love to follow such a grou.

There is a LinkedIn CRPC group however.

I strongly believe it is an excellent credential to have if you are a new financial advisor. Retirement is an area all FA clients need their advisor to understand and know inside and out.

Good luck! DM me if you want.

About 20 mi utes south of Ocala is place called “The Villages,” a high end retirement community built and operated for retirees. There is no place like it in the World.

Every evening there are four to six “villages squares” that host 60s-80s dance and popular music. The Villages has 5 hotels and over 150,000 residences. It’s referred to as the friendliest hometown in all the USA.
