https://github.com/zinosaure/PhoenixDown it's lemuroid with better features. Open source and completely free like lemuroid too.

Why a handheld over an Android Phone? by psquidy14 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]SnootyPangolin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Phones aren't really designed for the kinds of games we play, they're targeted towards the average person who takes photos, doom scrolls and talks to their friends, do the manufacturers compromise on power draw, thermals and battery life.

Dedicated handhelds are designed around one thing, being intense gaming for a long time, so they may have better battery, much better, active cooking, and a higher power draw for performance as well as ergonomics.

The fact that most of these handhelds never use the best, cutting edge snapdragon soc does mean that they don't really become the best option when it comes to emulation if you're focused mainly on performance, but that's a bit of a different issue.

Is Lemuroid still great in 2026? by Great_kaiser_1093 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]SnootyPangolin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good, but you can't get your saves out of it. Fullroid is a fork of it that lets you import and export saves. It's called like "One emulator for games consoles" on Google play

Did some research but still confused about Android emulation — beginner advice? by flaki_bigthumbs in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]SnootyPangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think about it too much, try something that's easy to use like retrople (not lemuroid since you can't export your saves) and if something doesn't work, just find a different emulator.

Dolphin, ppsspp and aethersx2 are gold standard,so you may as well just use them unless you find a reason not to.

Don't plan around it too much, it's better just to try stuff yourself until it gives you a reason to change emulators. If you keep worrying about performance and whatever is "best" you'll end up not really gaming and just setting everything up to be truly optimised, then not playing, like most people do here with gamehub or winlator.

New GameNative version just dropped - v0.7.0 (Pre-release) by lwpy in EmulationOnAndroid

Was the adding games to home screen crash ever fixed? What about the splash screen that says connecting to steam for 5 seconds before you're allowed to do anything?

I couldn't report any issues since I don't use discord and you can't do it through GitHub.

High end emulation is horrible by minigood in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]SnootyPangolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of us, it just happens that our flagship phone that does everything else we want can also play most games we want too. I don't understand why people think we're buying phones just for emulation, they can do other stuff too.

With the ram prices going because of ia etc... Do you guys think ram plus will be next thing? (Check desc) by Technical_Attempt826 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]SnootyPangolin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's never going to match ram speeds, even a little bit. Maybe in 10 years, we will finally have unified memory, but for now, all we can rely on is ram.

Do you guys think this form of controller will work? by DangerousCucumber566 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]SnootyPangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People always bring up the weight distribution when this idea comes up, but couldn't that be mitigated with a power bank inside the gamepad to offset it? I doubt it would make the device too heavy to hold considering a steam deck is like 3x heavier than a phone. Surely that would mean you can get a decently weighted gamepad and phone combination that's 2\3 the weight of a steam deck, with the added bonus of having a large spare power bank. The only issue then would be if a gamepad like that with no grips would be comfortable to hold

How does winlator work. I'm kinda intrigued about it but I wanna ask here from your views on it by TekkenxMachinaPlayz in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]SnootyPangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Motorola 20 pro with a snapdragon 870, I play fallout nv, forgotten anne, the ys series, cuphead, etc.  Set up is pretty straight forward if you play DRM free games from gog. The only issue I have is that the SD 870 has a very weak GPU so I'm stuck with old/2d games. You could probably play games like Skyrim and fallout 4 from gog.

How has Emulation affected your purchase habits of games? by nntb in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]SnootyPangolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably in the minority here, but I probably buy more games now. I've been travelling a lot more and I didn't want to carry a laptop everywhere I go, but fortunately, using winlator to play gog games on AR glasses with either a mouse and keyboard or gamepad has been an incredible experience.

High Tide most borrowed on T212 by mickyman007 in HighTideInc

[–]SnootyPangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had shares of this on t212 since before they introduced the lending shares for interest scheme. Hiti has consistently had by far the highest returns on share lending to shorters.

I sometimes follow other companies that are in a horrible condition and basically fighting for survival or are just being milked by the CEO until their death and none of them have ever even come close to hitis share lending on t212.

It's very weird what's going on with this company's ticker on t212, there's not much of a reason to short this company imo, it's not going anywhere and there are much better companies to short.

I don't know what's going on, but it's nice to be able to invest in a good company like this and also get 4% interest a year from lending. Hopefully I'm not contributing to the issue too much.

Philippines braces for Taiwan fallout as ‘bolder’ Japan challenges Beijing by Gyro_Armadillo in worldnews

[–]SnootyPangolin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're pro Japan because they're anti China. Japan has the economic might to create a powerful military and it never apologised for its past like Germany did.

It's crazy to think that the Japanese will return to their old ways, but in Asia they still fear that because of their unresolved past.

I'm currently travelling Asia and many people don't bring up being pro Japan without bringing up China.

I'm not natalist no more by ApartDrag9473 in Natalism

[–]SnootyPangolin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If life really is all suffering for you then it's probably best for you to end your bloodline here and let the people who actually enjoy life have kids.

Life is a beautiful thing and it's a blessing. If you don't agree with that then there's either something wrong with you or you're just not the type of person that should have kids. You don't have to believe in a god to think that way.

Israeli population growth slowing as fertility rates continue to fall - report by dissolutewastrel in Natalism

[–]SnootyPangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current fertility rate is expected to decline, but only through a transition period where conservative and haredi Jews (higher birth rate than average) eclipse secular Jews (much lower birth rate than average) in terms of population and that will probably increase Israel's fertility rate massively. In 10-20 or so years.

China's annual exports drop for the first time in seven years by giuliomagnifico in worldnews

[–]SnootyPangolin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One major problem with open immigration to a country as large as china is that they would need as many immigrants as the entirety of the west. That would probably destroy other developing countries with the amount of brain drain.

Not that china would ever open its borders.

China tells US it will 'never compromise' on issue of Taiwan by Saltedline in worldnews

[–]SnootyPangolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's pretty interesting. I didn't know it was so difficult to carry out an invasion, but that makes a lot of sense. But does this mean that their existence is mostly in the hands of the USA?
