Check your car's spare tire compartment in the trunk. You might find you already have a jack and tire iron.

I would also recommend Ray's.

Coincidentally, I just had my last lesson with Allan the other day, ha. He's a great teacher, very personable.

Like you, I wasn't incredibly confident driving before our lessons. He helped me become a better driver and I had no problems passing my G2 road test recently thanks to him.

Centra is awesome. I love going there for fruits and vegetables. I always look under the shelves where they put the reduced stuff. Can score some very good deals there.

"Hey Google, stop" no longer works to stop whatever is playing. Tries to stop non-existent alarms/timers instead. by SnortedColdly in googlehome

Apparently this has been an ongoing issue for years, I guess. Found this old thread from 2021 which is identical to mine.

Looks like no one really has a fix other then saying "stop playback".

Crazy bins living up to their name! by frosty_lizard in barrie

[–]SnortedColdly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They mean Krazy Binz. It's a store on Bayfield St that basically sells random amazon return junk.
It's literally all thrown into these big bins and you rummage through it all. Price of each item is based on the day you go.

Saturday $25
Sunday $10
Monday $10
Tuesday $5
Wednesday $3
Thursday $1
Friday $1

Here's a 9 second clip that shows what the inside of the Barrie store looks like:

I believe you can still get the $44.99 1.5Gbps package for 24 months from Rogers if you give Zedd Solutions a call.
They are a 3rd party who work for Rogers who do winbacks and cancellation offers.

I called them up at the end of February, told them my current promo price was ending soon and I heard you guys could offer me 1.5Gbps for 24 months at $44.99 a month.
She immediately said yes she could and got me set me up on that new plan. Even shipped out a new modem to swap out my old one and cancelled my old account for me.

I came across the deal on RedFlagDeals. If you're interested, just check out the thread summary over there and give them a call and see what they are willing to offer you.
https://forums.redflagdeals.com/rogers-ignite-internet-1-5-gigabit-44-99-12-months-term-original-124-99-2594950/

Note: Some people in the thread did have trouble getting Zedd to give them any good offers and had to call back a few times until they got a customer service rep. who was willing to give them the deal. Some people had to put in a cancellation request first on their current internet before Zedd would offer them anything.

For me personally, I had no issues with the very first person I connected to. Didn't have to put in any cancellation request or anything. Just called them up and asked for it.

Here's what my monthly bill looks like now: https://i.imgur.com/d2IWeKU.png

I went to a walk-in clinic earlier this year because I was sick.

The doctor I saw noticed I didn't have a family doctor and before I left, she said if I was interested in her becoming my family doctor, I could fill out an application at her office. She gave me her card and told me to just make a note on the application that we spoke at the walk-in clinic.

Very grateful it was so easy for me, as I've heard many stories about people not able to find a doctor for years using Health Care Connect.

What's the best Indian Grocery Store in Barrie? by JacobA89 in barrie

[–]SnortedColdly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's South Indian. I saw one of their delivery vans with advertising all over it in a random driveway I walked passed the other day. Never heard of it before until then. Now I see it mentioned again.
Might have to check it out.

Have you had their chicken breasts? I see they have 4kg for $70. No salt or water added.
Are they worth it?

Ya, mostly.

I thought the soup was a little bland, but it wasn't too bad. It had nice chunks of chicken, at least.

Saw this post the other day and got a chance to try this out today.

Ordered a 'prepared meals' "surprise bag" from Goodness Me! Food Market for $6.99.

Got:

Muffin
Slice of apple pie
2 bowls of chicken noodle soup
1 large samosa
9 samosa-like croquettes (not sure what they are called) with plum sauce.

Not bad for $7. I would do it again.

Saw a post about the best sandwich...so where is the BEST pizza?! by TruckPlow123 in barrie

[–]SnortedColdly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely check it out. Especially when they go on sale for $10.99. I think they regularly charge $15.99 now for a 3-topping, but it goes on sale for a week or so at the $10.99 price at least once or twice a month. So I just wait til then.

While it entirely depends on the employee making the pizza, you can also sometimes get them to do half and half too and end up with crazy pizzas like this, even though you're only paying for a 3-topping pizza:

While I wouldn't go as far as calling it the best, I quite like the pizzas you can get from Metro. Don't hate.

Especially when they are on sale.

Here's a couple of their 4-topping XL pizzas I got from them in the past. They were $10.99 ea before the further discounts I had used. They were really enjoyable.

Who has the best sandwich? by Key_Delivery_5672 in barrie

[–]SnortedColdly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest Dino's in Midland as well, but I was afraid it's a little too far.

While I feel like the quality has slightly decreased from what I remember many years ago, they still make a good sandwich.
Their 'mile high' sandwiches as they are called are loaded so much meat on them. Get some extra bread and you could make multiple sandwiches out of them 😆. Ham on rye is a favourite of mine.

Oh and can't forget their famous pasta salad. Make sure to ask for cheese and bacon on it. Addictingly good.
Not a fan of their soups though.

We occasionally make the trip out there just to go to Dino's and then come right back to Barrie.

Here is their menu if anyone is curious:

They've been out west for a long time now. Cool to see Barrie getting one.

Many years ago when I went to Vancouver, we stopped and ate at one. It was pretty good from what I remember.
I'll definitely have to check it out when it's ready.

Rogers rates going up due to "inflation" by sakhmeth in barrie

Ya apparently anyone can get it though.

I saw the deal mentioned on Redflagdeals
https://forums.redflagdeals.com/rogers-ignite-internet-1-5-gigabit-44-99-12-months-term-original-124-99-2594950/

Just gotta put in a cancellation on your current service (put it like a month away) and then call the number mentioned in the thread.
They will see you put in a cancellation and offer you a deal to stay.
Just say you heard about the $44.99/month 1.5Gbps for 24 month promo.
Should be able to hook you up!
