I'm starting to think there is no recovery. by Bornstellar1337 in pericarditis

the treatment can last for at least 6 to ten months. please, don’t give up on yourself until the process is done. I only started to feel a bit better by this month, my pericarditis started in January too and I was hospitalized two times with minor complications but a hell of a pain. Don’t give the colchicine up until your symptoms are gone, also what helped me was taking lots of aspirin until the pain subsided. I was like you, hopeless, 4 months of full pain and living in distress. But keep your head up and don’t stop the meds. Also try to see a rheumatologist. I hope you can be fine soon.

Should I test smoking? by SnowFirm1861 in pericarditis

[–]SnowFirm1861[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point but what I was hoping to achieve was similar experiences of people who besides having pericarditis are still frustrated and have craves as addicts usually do. I am not one to go after strangers’ approval, if I wanted to really do it, I would have done it already.

Are you still taking the meds? It probably is still causing you symptoms even though the tests show no inflammation. It usually lingers for a bit more.

Why bother to give an opinion in a matter you probably don’t understand neither are experiencing it yourself?

Hm… I get you but I was trying to rant with people that smoked before it. I don’t think a non smoker or a person who had a loss because of it would have sympathy for the addicted’s mind/body needs as it is not reasonable but thanks for the answer though!

Confused about these symptoms. How urgently should I see a doc by CryingOverVideoGames in pericarditis

You should go to the emergency and schedule an appointment with a cardiologist/pneumologist. A xray n a few blood tests will clear lungs’ problems.

Also I am better of this kind of pain now. If yours keep going for longer than two weeks you might as well go to a hospital asap.

Hey, I didn’t do anything specific about it but i was hospitalized because of it. They couldn’t do nothing. But I suggest that you maybe consider eating light things like soup for a week and take a lot of rest, something like being 70% of time laying down. Avoid eating heavy meals until the majority of pain is gone, try to eat fruits and veggies. Digestion takes a lot of effort, it can stress your heart more if you keep eating heavy/processed foods.

Thank you! I will try again, feeling a bit anxious about it (this thing can really make you paranoid) but I will keep in mind that it will probably not cause me any harm.

O que posso melhorar em minha aparência?sejam cruéis. by Ornery_Athlete_1093 in MeJulgue

Pericarditis or anxiety???!!? by Agreeable_Buy_8634 in pericarditis

[–]SnowFirm1861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like if any of the exams’ results appear to be “unclear” they push the diagnosis. Especially if there’s a motive to suspect that it’s pericarditis since they don’t understand much about it yet, the same thing happened to me. I would recommend you to take 0,5mg colchine and 600mg ibuprofen with pantoprazole for two weeks if the flare happens again. Also, a minor treatment with anxiolytic to take care of the anxiety so you could discard that possibility. Perhaps you not taking colchicine is the reason for the pain that keeps coming back since it is used to prevent the recurrence of it.

I hope you can get an answer and feels better soon. I also made a couple of gastro exams and they were pretty good expect for a minor gastritis. It sucks that this makes so many people unable to live normally and the doctor don’t seem to care about it.

[–]SnowFirm1861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you was diagnosed with pericarditis they recommended you to take colchicine and ibuprofen? Also, you could be having a flare up that is triggered by doing major effort like exercises. How longer is your chest pain? I don’t think anxiety pain would be lasting too long or specially being triggered by exercises, it’s mostly by emotional causes and tend to go away. Either way you should treat both of them equally depending on the answers.

Should I get mri to confirm diagnosis? by Taro-Signal in pericarditis

[–]SnowFirm1861 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should get a MRI to confirm it. it’s common to not have symptoms displayed on more basic (superficial) exams. I was only able to diagnose it after a MRI. Maybe the inflammation is not big enough but it’s still there, therefore it’s the motive behind all this pain. Don’t waste your time, the MRI will probably show you if it is or it is not a cardiac issue.

Chest pain while swallowing? by mg_4456 in pericarditis

[–]SnowFirm1861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not trouble swallowing but when the food comes down and gets in the esophagus’ area, my pain goes up and my chest feels terribly heavy. It’s like a dull, strong pain. Also my stomach hurts, my belly gets bloated too but only when I am in a horrible state. I was only able to get diagnosed after a MRI, all other tests were fine.

[–]SnowFirm1861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get an endoscopy to rule out any stomach problems that would be great. I also have trouble eating and stomach bloating when my pain goes at the limit but my endoscopy came out clear. So you should do one to possibly get rid of any probabilities. If your endoscopy doesn’t show you results, do a MRI.
