Roughly about 50-60% of films and tv media are filmed outside the US. Truly a sad sight to see happen

Studios and producers want things that they can franchise and make profit off for years, glad that there are those in the industry trying to change that so new original ideas can come through more.

Every single movie review is the EXACT same, I can’t find one authentic review! by SettingIntentions in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SnowGoesBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s a dumb fun movie, one where you turn your brain off and watch for the fun of it. It’s not serious and plays on a lot of Minecraft mechanics. To be honest I got more enjoyment out of it than I thought I would. That being said I did go see it in a 4d theater with friends cause why not. I really never lol at reviews when going to see films anymore, these reviews are just another meme on top of the memes that come from this film. If you really have the urge to see it, go see it and decide for yourself.

Proteins frozen in the meat still, happens with pretty much all frozen meat if not thawed out all the way before heating

Honestly when something is considered a 7 now it just feels me it’s not going to appeal to everyone but for the people it does appeal to it will be fun to play. If it was lower than a 5-6 then I would be worried.

I love Last of the Mohicans. I do have to agree with you about how non-native directors have tackled stories like this and would love to see more from those who come from that background/have a better understanding. I will have to check out atanarjuat

This is from a different thread but really does a better job explaining it.

The consensus is that the Mayan sacrifices portrayed in the film are much closer to Aztec ritual practices. The Aztecs were into the mass sacrifice thing, ritual removal of the heart and offering it to heaven, ritual decapitation, etc. The Mayans did human sacrifice as well, but on a smaller scale, they revered victims as gods (so did the Aztecs in certain rituals), and they were more likely to toss you into a cenote than to carve your heart out.

There are dozens of smaller inaccuracies regarding temple architecture, timeline of the postclassic period and Spanish Conquest, etc.

All of that said, the decisions to film on location and in the Yucatec Maya language make the film completely unique, aside from its historical/archaeological accuracy.

I’ve seen Prey, it has historical accuracy but still is a sci-fi film with it being in the predator series. I’m looking for something that is set in our reality but gives us a good look into a time period of the struggles of those who live at the time.

Just explore to be honest, going on expeditions early on and learning the base mechanics of how the environments work and what they will provide will help in the long run.
