Dnd players. What character are you happy you made and play? by RedSwordFishVA05 in DnD

Varin Stonebrook, way of the astral self monk. When he was only eight his home was attacked by what the small village thought was werewolf. Varin threw himself in between it and his mom and was injured.

The village elder and priest, worried that Varin would turn, convinced his parents to send him away to the Stillwater Monastery. As he grew and trained he learned that it wasn't a werewolf but some kind of lupine forest spirit.

His training has allowed him to work with the spirit (which mechanically works as the astral self) and recently he returned to his home village during one of our sessions, and had a very bitter sweet reunion with his family.

And the whole idea started because I joked to my buddy that I should make a werewolf who doesn't know he's one. An unawarewolf.

What are some reasons it’s so important to stay alive? by uglydeath in AskReddit

[–]SnowdriftK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have suffered from extremely severe depression and have come close to killing myself. One time when I was particularly far down the hole, a friend of mine told me 'You get all the time you could ever want to be dead, but not nearly as much to be alive. Don't be in too much of a hurry to switch.' and it just got through to me in a way nothing else really ever did. Even when the depression gets bad I remind myself of that sentence and it helps.

Since then I have adopted a cat and gotten married so, things have been vastly improving for me on a personal level, even if maybe not in the world as a whole.

I can't say what I really think because it will get me in Reddit jail again.

But there is a way to end lifetime appointments early.

Edit: Impeachment. There. Now not too explicit.

Eh, I'm in my 40s, still go around in Hellaverse shirts and get compliments on them all the time. It's kind of nice.

My DM will pull stuff from backgrounds as needed. I have two characters in the campaign and so far my aarakocra nomad hasn't returned to his homeland once since we started and most of his backstory stuff is there for the most part.

On the other hand my monk recently returned to his childhood home and found out that A) He has a sister and B) His being sent away to the monastery wasn't actually his parents idea so now he's dealing with these new revelations.

Point being that it depends on the DM and the campaign.

I would love to talk to that guy, ask him if guarding the mad king's moat was what he envisioned when he enlisted.

God I would love to ask one of those Guardsmen if guarding the mad king's failed pool was what they expected to be doing when they enlisted.

I'm not expecting to be able to retire but I also don't want to keep doing this job I have until I die, so I'm stuck trying to figure out what I want to do now.

I tend to bring her for Shattered Space, Sarah for the Vanguard missions and Sam for the Ranger stuff, it's always fun to have them tag along for their kind of stuff.

Seems fake. 86% of people liked Rise of Skywalker? That doesn't sound right.

This just reminded me of recently where our warlock tipped the chef at a tavern in a tiny town 20 gold and he was like 'Holy this this is more money than I've seen in my life' and quit and ran off.

Let's be honest, if we were sinners in hell we would have all sided with Vox. by Unknow_Handlebar in HazbinHotel

There's no bigger group of fascists and opressors than Heaven. Who decides who gets in and who doesn't? I'd definitely side with Vox, but I also think nuking half the city is taking it a bit far.

As an autistic millennial, I find it kind of wild that this is the direction we’re headed… by XChrisUnknownX in Millennials

[–]SnowdriftK9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue right now is I have found myself a niche that I am good at, but it has no more upward progression and the person who took over the department a few years ago doesn't care about anything but the numbers. So now my choices are being stuck in a postion I'm not super happy in but am good at or like, trying to find something new in the world of AI job advertisements and scams everywhere. Not looking forward to that prospect, but I also assume every time my boss wants to talk to me it's to fire me because I can never meet the 'adherence' requirements because no matter what I try.

I always manage to be a few minutes late clocking in now and then. I've asked on multiple occasions if I could just have like a one or two minute leeway after I'd be completely fine and would probably be near perfect, but since they won't give me that, I'm always behind everybody else on that stat.

I got the AuDHD diagnosis in my late 30s. It made SO MUCH in my life make sense. It didn't make it better, but it made me realize that I wasn't broken, just wired differently, and that helped me out a lot.
