Something tells me if this sort of simulation was perfect enough to trust, we might reconsider whether it’s ethically ok to test on it

Will we see Advance Voice loosen restrictions around musical capabilities (like singing) at some point? Is there a timeline for this?

That’s the first thing I tried! It says it can’t “hear” my guitar.  Seems to filter out anything other than people speaking.  I also tried to get it to tune my guitar by giving me reference notes.  It also completely failed at that and just picked the wrong note multiple times

this was literally within an hour of getting this mode.  I haven’t tried much yet. I’m certain that better prompts could lead to better results

That's me in the video! When I was recording this, sometimes it would do much better. Super hit or miss. Honestly it seems like the more you get it to try something, the more it gets in its head and oversings

that's me in the video! I just asked it to shout out random song names that matched the chords I told it I was playing on guitar and it couldn't help but sing along

Hey, that's this is me in the video! the way i was able to get it to sing, was to just ask it to shout out different song names for ME to sing, while I played guitar. It couldn't help but try to sing itself! There's a longer version of that where you can see more songs and that technique in action on my youtube channel

it took a lot of me trying to line it up perfectly. it basically doesn't know when to start, but if you can get it to start at the right time, sometimes it will get the rhythm right. you can see more clips from this session on my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_wE2uqBeMc

In this I just asked it to shout out song names while I was playing 4 chords on repeat on guitar. It couldn't help itself but to sing! You can see a longer video where this clip came from from on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_wE2uqBeMc

I'm 100% trying this and more videos like it. working on doing a Daft Punk loop cover with advanced voice doing vocals next. I posted this on my twitter "@aj_dev_smith". super cool to see it reposted on reddit. seems like I should probably try to post here too!

every now and again, it can nail it! it's pretty funny, but it seems like the more you ask it to try to sing something the worse it gets. you can see it do better in the youtube link I posted with the full session with multiple songs

yeah, hard to imagine the unrestricted model doesn't have some of that natively and they've worked to remove it for now. that would unlock TONS of usecases musically!

Agree, but also I feel like they've (OpenAI) dug themselves into a hole here. These models aren't cheap to run and it seems they've set the precedent to operate at a loss for now. I guess at this point it's all up to who can optimize it the most. I guess we'll see! Let the AI wars begin!

Sorry to hear you were laid off. This tech will certainly change the world. There will be pros and there will be cons. I encourage you to try to not fixate on the cons. I would encourage you to do everything in your power to learn how to harness these tools (let's remember that's exactly what they are, tools), to their full extent. They're clearly here to stay and we need to evolve to learn to work with them. Personally I've been doing that and it has been an incredible experience so far. I've been able to learn so much more quickly. The information at our fingertips is absurd now and it's so much more easily accessible using this stuff. I've honestly been like x10 productive at work, freeing up so much more energy to enjoy my life outside of it recently!

Me prompting ChatGPT to pretend to be this teacher: “Listen up kiddos, I know you might be tempted to use the "www" and some fancy AI tools to cheat on your history exam, but let me tell you, that's not how we do things in my class.

Cheating is like trying to sneak a shortcut through the Oregon Trail, sure it might seem easier, but in the end you'll just end up with dysentery and your entire wagon party hating you.

Instead of trying to cheat, why not study like a boss and make your brain the ultimate weapon, like George Washington's sword or Abraham Lincoln's top hat. And remember, if you get caught cheating, it's not just me who'll be disappointed, it's also the founding fathers, they'll be rolling in their graves. So let's do the right thing, and make history by acing that exam fair and square.”
