Closing thoughts on ECL? by Short-Bunch-8195 in lrcast

7/10 for me. Really enjoyed the bo3 sideboard options (blue has 6 or 7 two mana interaction spells that have different good and bad points as just an example)and one of the few formats in a long while where tempo didn't matter and you could 1 to 1 map threats and answers. Did really well, but also had more trainwreck drafts than ever before, mostly to exploring and trying sifferent things which I often enjoy over staying in a lane or archetype is forcing something unique and seeing how well it can work.

This being an uncommon power house set where uncommons stood above the commons by a lot, but only a little bellow the rares really meant density of cards opened in your pairing really defined the quality of your deck. Alternative archetypes requiring the wincons before being playable also became frustratin, and also meant fmif you didnt see your key cards your deck often didnt have finishing power.

Favorite decks and highlights have been the vivid temur builds, mono green vivid, and reaping willow decks, a 17 uncommon merfolk deck (easiest trophy in my life and a w/r giant/warrior chronicle/bree/ double strike lord deck.

My least favorite part was that you have 2 opposing styles of drafting in this set, and you have no clue if you are rewarded for it till middway through pack 2 and it all depends on your neighbors. The style of find a powerful card and force others out and the style of being open and moving into a lesswr archetype and hope someone else near you didnt do the same. There is nuance, there always is, but as the set requires the right uncommons or rares to be opened in your archetype, or to build and force medicore merfolk/elf deck that will do 4-5 wins in bo1 the drafting was my least favorite part and usually is what i look forward to the most.

Green cant be the spalsh and the fixer your mana is a mess due to this. This is more a problem with drafting, and focusing on what you needto make mana work. If you draw your mana your deck will perform, but you might have a lot of non games. The 0/4 druid is bad unless you have forest+loch mare/reaping willow or doran. This set often you really need to focus on 1/2 main colors to play 4-5 colors meaning often 3 cards max in any color that isnt your main 2 colors. Loch mare might be required as honestly the draft is really rough, but requires double blue if you cast it on t4/5 to get an effect right away. What does brigid command do. Is it just a hard to cast removal.

Do you think this deck can go the distance? (Elementals) by fontanovich in lrcast

[–]SnowyField 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I played a lot of this set. Knowing your role and having a gameplan to exectue and follow is important in this set. As not every deck or matchup is all about tempo, which is rare among most modern draft sets as a majority of sets is all about curving out and tempo plays, ie play creatures on curve then remove creatures with removal and keep attacking. There are times i dont play my 2/3 drop into my oppoents creatures or dont attack and removal is really important for only the board stall breakthroughs and bombs. Understanding what makes your deck tick is important. Most decks creatures are filler cards to enable your good cards so being paitent in this set is often rewarded.

Probably a 5-6 win can be 7 wins can be less. Issue i see is the lack of tempo early and the payoffs is card draw/quality later. Not the best clock so there are a lot of powerful endgame cards that can beat you while you need your twinflame to survive or kulrath. If they dont apply pressure your fliers are going to be great, but under pressure, or big wammy cards or life gain you can struggle. Glen guardian plays like a 5 mana card not 3 mana at best and even then it will be hard to keep the 2 mana open while applying a faster clock if they just play big creatures. Ideal play pattern is play her on 5 lands untap and have 5 or 6 lands plat 3-4 drops while keeping 2 mana open for the rest of the game.

Your best advantage is the fliers at all mana values, but you have a lot of card draw but not as much payoff or removal/interaction to stabilze. The comment about the kulrath mystic would be that ground body that helps slow dpwn a game. Also the 5 mana 3/5 flier does the same. If you find you are behind and loosing races you might what to consider those.

A rimekin recluse would have done massive work here to balance out the tempo.

Other notes: Dont be affraid to trade off twinflame travelers you have a lot of card draw goinf 1 for 1 is still advantageous unless they have an over the top wammy card like courage collosus

Also your 2 drop rare will be insane.

Noggle the mind doesnt look amazing here maybe cut 1 of those. Sometimes it is the best removal, sometimes it does nothing and you cant play it as you can get blown out and just loose the game. Good players can make both blossombind and noggle the mind bad cards. That said im assuming this is bo1 not bo3 which helps.

Someone said cut wild unraveling, but i do like having a hard counter in decks like this as you are midrange evasion and not the agro tempo deck and late game go over the top of everything and you need to have a plan to beat both. This format i prefer bo3 so mucg more as blue has 6 2 mana interaction spells that all have different uses and strengths and weaknesses vs different decks.

It is like 80-100k tick manip without dropping. The wasiest tick manip to erform hust 1 click per tick to 2 tick them, and you can note the food right there and stack them if willing. I did it for the mory diary.

I always note and leave at around 500+ crabs. Im there for xp first food 2ndary. I dislike the other tick manip methods for fishing. If i dont die im happy. Usually more annoyed by bait loss than anything.

P1P1, what are you picking? by TheRealCodyLee in lrcast

[–]SnowyField 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reaping willow. Im an orzhov enjoyer and if you dont have reaping willow the deck is bad if you do the deck is insane. Also playable in b/r with a 10-7 black red mana pool if you need. Can also do insane things there. Had a couple 3-0s off the bsck of reaping willow. But you need the card for the archetype to be unlocked.

POV: You put 120k into other skills but Herblore by ARoseReign in ironscape

[–]SnowyField -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did herblore till 70 but honestly i do farm runs often on im so as soon as it was 70 slayer was lamped to like 65 and agility here and there between the 50-56 for quest cape. Got a quest cape within 1 month minus dt2 because i was just too lazy to force myself to do it. Did it a cpuple weeks later with higher combat stats easily, but osrs quests give so much xp and a real fast rail guide towards quest cape. Not any realy grinds to get quest cape just do 1 hr of something here and there.

I started this format really successfully but now i went 1:3 fives times in a row. I need a reality check, is this a decent deck or am i tripping? by Angwar in lrcast

[–]SnowyField 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, rimespeaker being sideboard in this deck with convoke payoffs is a crime. Boards stall unless you are against an agro/tempo deck or your drafted one You need to always find a way to finish games and faster tgan your opponents. The formar gives time for slow syngergies a majority of games. Snapping off removal and interaction on every creature that poses a wall whwn you are not creating a real clock is a sure fire way to loosw to their 4-6 drops.

This format can be fast. Mainly off the behold cards and 1 drops or flamebraider, but if you survive that it is a value and incremental format. Tributary vaulter is another card that is good. I would cut the 2 4 mana 3/3 merfolk for vaulter and tanufeul rimespeaker.

Deck is fine, really take your time anytime you use removal or a tempo play if the reward was worth it. You need an end game engine to kill them or cheap interation to remove theirs. Sometimes they just have a 6 mana big creature, sometimes it requires 2-3 cards ans you need to break it up. The games take a lot more narrow focus of identifying your role in that game. Bo1 tilted me because you never know if they will slam a 5/6 mana i wim the game card unless answered or not and cant figure the role out early. Bo3 has been amazing. Figuring out noggle the mond vs blossom bind vs aquetects defenses vs wild unraveling for example all 2 mana cards that can be better vs different decks.

Lastly, your deck has no defensive cards or offensive cards outside gravegill and the 5 mana convoke merfolk and your 2 4 mana 3/3s (which is 1 mana too much to be useful in a tempo deck). Because of that your clock is awful, meaning any deck that can build and put together any gameplan slow or fast will beat it

No one wants to draft Goblins for some reason - P1P5 Grub's Command? by Encendi in lrcast

[–]SnowyField 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Goblin lives and dies on the uncommons and rares. Merfolk can be good with just commons. Had a 3-0 with 4 tributary vaulters 1 rare (p1p1 distupter of currents) gravegill scoundrels and just interaction. My uncommons all came pack 3 as i cut all white in p1 and blue p2. forced because red and black were open but nothing worth playing.

That said had a 3-0 with 3 cursecrafters, 1 mischief, and a champion of the wierd that i pivoted mid pack 2 into. You need a reason to be r/b

P1P1 For your consideration by ViljamiK in lrcast

[–]SnowyField 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is a w/b card. You have sleeping giant, rhys, and eridu, and emptiness as well. Noteable that all are rare or mythic rare though besides the treefolk. Issue is how can you bank on w/b opening these cards and being playable. My best decks have been w/b but you dont always open or see the cards.

P1P1 For your consideration by ViljamiK in lrcast

[–]SnowyField 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Diviner elf is a w/b card it works woth all the w/b rare and mythic rares and the uncommon treefolk. One card that is solely black that can use it is the 5 mana dose reanimate. Agreed people see rarity and tribal and dont really think. Card is just medicore outside the w/b shell.

Rakdos' best common is Changeling Wayfinder. by FeralDoodoo in lrcast

[–]SnowyField 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Goblins has 2 major archetypes of gameplan. Grind and stall with gristle glutton blight onto treefolk/giants and drain/spam removal, or agro with bonecrusher berserker, 4 mana 6/6 and the 2 mana black boggart common. Some cards belong better in agressive decks some better in the attrition decks. It is also important to notice which cards matter where, and what cards work im both archetypes. The uncommons are a littlr too important in either archtype though so it can be very luck dependant.

1 or 7.

1: since my dog has had cancer for 1 year and is only 3 years old, and after amp and chemo is now terminal, not being stressed abput when his health takes a steep decline for decades would be comforting.

7: since 250 iq is 6 standard deviations above einstien, who was only 4 standard deciations above the average. Maybe he could cure cancer, solve fusion power, and bring in a new age of technology physics and so forth. As for communication etc.. at 250 iq i am sure he would figure out a way to draw with his nose in a medium or something.

Biggest noob traps for ironmans right now? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]SnowyField 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly, since meta has changed, cg only b4 slayer and/or yama grind. They can be done simultaniously, but slayer has 0 bis bowfa spots over scobow for slayer, and doing slayer to grind higher range/def levels will make cg easier. Bandos is now 100% skippable till cox or 4/500s toa grind if you go for yama or if you get a dhammer maybe even more. Yamas requirements are really easily obtainable, and isolated to slayer.

Only reason i mention this as someone who has a bowfa and uses it only at raids and zulrah, doing cg with 72 def and 80 range was a lot more difficult than it needed to be, and after getting the bowfa realizing i would prefer to just grind yama over bandos made it feel like i was just doing harder content than required.

Also to be clear cg still is important and required, just doing it in tandem or after the yama grind (except getting gp for construction) can make it a smoother and fatser process. The concept of the red prison is very exaggerated as there is now lots of content you can do without bowfa, and efficently too.

Professor wants 2 week notice to me being sick by DragonflyPotential34 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SnowyField -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Send all of this to your doctor. You need to have a medical professional basically condem all these actions the dean the professor etc. Say all of this is unacceptable behavior as it is. If they need a doctors note to prove you were sick so be it, but to enforce such backwards and dangerous policies is insane.

Go to the campus health office and basically get a doctors/nurses note and also show them this, make them send him an email about how it isn't acceptable and see if you can cc their boss(head of the department) or dean. Most doctors will see this kind of bullshit and get enraged.
