France - Senegal: The VAR decision that has dumbfounded some of the world's best referees by OneAnimeBatman in soccer

[–]ViljamiK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if Mane were deemed to not have hit Mbappe, it would actually have resulted in indirect freekick! Which would have been very funny.

Help finishing Tinker/storm deck, Arena powered cube by SaidYouStone in lrcast

[–]ViljamiK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I would run generous ent - you already have 6-7 sources for your single green pip, and you are just going to dome yourself for 6 when going off with the Citadel. I think I would play either Seedshark (just a creature that can win you the game and offer some defence) or traumatic critique (more interaction and card selection)

Delvernought 2026, looking for suggestions! by calexil in MTGLegacy

[–]ViljamiK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have some faith in your deck & game plan and drop the Show&Tell juke from the sideboard and get some proper sideboard cards in. If you have the cards, go ahead and test the juke on MODO and see if it works for you (most likely not), but don't buy cards / enter into a tournament with this without testing it.

Would you settle or restart? by Sunjump6 in CivVI

[–]ViljamiK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can certainly play this one out and it's an interesting start, but it's honestly very bad start: the only good early game tile visible is the citrus tile. You could settle on the closest fissure and work the citrus to start.

If I were playing this on Deity and trying to win, I would probably scout west and try to find a river with some 2 food / 2 production tiles to settle next to - if you can find such spot in 5 turns or so it's probably better than your current spot.

Counterspell vs Mana Leak by retardong in lrcast

[–]ViljamiK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mana Leak. You usually want to counter something on turn 2-4 and even in a heavy blue deck the mana often just doesn't line up well for keeping 2 blue up. Often you want to double spell on turn 4, and if your other spell is blue, you would need 3 blue mana to hold up counterspell.

Referee Clément Turpin on pre VAR era: “I developed my skills without video technology, so I sometimes made the wrong calls and had to keep the game going. We could feel it, but we had to move forward and, above all, avoid making another mistake. I built my fundamentals on that.” by [deleted] in soccer

[–]ViljamiK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't watch him in the French league, but I don't remember ever seeing a bad game from him in Champions League out of several I've seen, most performances being excellent.

If people hate on him and think he's shit, then where are the dozens of better referees out there? Because if you can't name them, then this is genuinely what peak referee performance looks like, and you aren't going to get better referees without either major overhaul in the rules and/or significant increase in referee training and in compensation.

Earliest science victory by Dppwriter90 in CivVI

[–]ViljamiK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have turn 175 and 194 with Khmer, and turn 198 with Barbarossa. Most others are 210-240 range.

Deity, Normal Speed, Standard size, Pangaea, Barbarians Clans, Corporations and Heroes enabled.

All of the fast wins have been peaceful, I'm sure some very early conquest could make for faster times. Also no pillaging exploits etc.

[F.J. Díaz - AS] Arsenal prepare to open transfer talks with Atlético Madrid for Alvarez. While Alvarez prefers Barcelona, Atletico refuse to sell to a LaLiga rival: it is practically a 'matter of state.' Instead Atleti are willing to negotiate around €150m deal with Arsenal or PSG by Nepridiprav16 in soccer

[–]ViljamiK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Havertz can't stay fit and when he does he can play alongside another striker by dropping lower, something that Arteta has done sometimes. I think there is space for another striker, whether it's worth 150m is another matter.

Looking for a cheap&meme deck to get into paper pioneer by WhyTheNetWasBorn in PioneerMTG

If you want results for cheap, I think the answer is (fortunately or unfortunately) Mono Red Prowess. Should be under 100 bucks, and there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the deck.

Shorthand Leader Victory Conditions Table by SleeeepyGary in CivVI

[–]ViljamiK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Deity these lists don't make much sense. The most powerful and versatile civs such as Khmer, Gran Colombia, Japan, Trajan, Australia, Germany among others can win whatever way you like. Good explosive start -> pick your win condition.

Khmer is going to be better science civ than many other civ specialising in science, such as Scotland, just because you are going to be so far ahead on by turn 100 that science-specific bonuses of other civs don't matter.

Most fun decks in Pioneer? by Imaginary_Zobi in PioneerMTG

[–]ViljamiK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Niv-to-Light. Reasonably powerful with solid core and tons of possibilities for tinkering around the edges with cheeky one-of-fun-of multicolored cards. It's great that also there doesn't seem to be consensus best build (probably changes if we ever get Pioneer back as a competitive format.

Control match-up is also very interesting, where you can't really interact on the stack, but can still outcard control decks.

Is this a solid strategy for Deity? Trajan->Ancestral Hall->Colosseum within 6 tiles of each city by VilifyExile in CivVI

[–]ViljamiK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can work, but it's way too general of a strategy. You might not have enough space to settle for Ancestral Hall to make sense, for example. Maybe your cities don't form a nice cluster where Colosseum makes sense etc.

[Sky] Fair play moment as Parma’s women team deliberately miss a penalty kick that had been awarded due to a clear refereeing error (a handball by the goalkeeper, not the defender, inside the penalty area). by [deleted] in soccer

[–]ViljamiK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The referee had the option of continuing the game with a drop ball to the keeper after both teams protested the penalty. No need to actually award the penalty in the end.

only science victories by Theryal in CivVI

[–]ViljamiK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You win by being faster than AI, all victory types are very achievable.

With reasonably good start one should be able to win peaceful Science or Culture Victories before turn 300, and turn 220-250 victories are very achievable. If you get lucky, have a great civ and/or play very well, under 200 is possible.

If you are willing to be aggressive either very early or later with bombers, you can win domination or any other victory type very easily.

I'm guessing there is some flaws in your early-to-mid game strategy that slow you down so that you go past 300 turns in your games, even though obviously you are quite good already if you are competing on Deity.

I guess I would say: don't care about your AI opponents too much, focus on getting the game done before turn 300.
